If you love fishing and shrimping? If you love watching a direct west sunset over the water with someone you love or kinda like, If you need a convenient spot right off of 26 to launch a kayak Or if you love landscape photography. This is the spot for you Of course, it is free

For the location, this is a pretty good little spot. I do wish they had parking or benches, etc on the South/East side. It's really a tiny plot of land, but it has a fishing/crabbing dock, small boardwalk, and beach area. You might not want to go at high tide though because the water comes all the way up. Unless, you plan to be on the dock. Then, more power to ya! There is a bike corral, trash and recycle receptacles, water fountain, and even a handicap-accessible port-a-potty. There is always a breeze here so plan accordingly. I thought I had a unique idea of eating my lunch here on a weekday to enjoy the nature. Apparently, great minds think alike. Most of the parking spaces were full, but I managed to squeeze in anyway. Back in so you can see the water, birds, dolphins, etc. This is not a night time place though, so make sure that is not in your plans. Really cool little park to stop by or spend a little time. Bring a picnic and a friend. Just don't tell too many people about it.

Though it's not the ocean it is the Ashley river and that's good enough for me!

It is a favorite among Charleston locals and tourists alike. This park is ideal for a sunset picnic or a relaxing stroll, and it only adds to the romantic charm of Charleston. It won the 2007 Landmark Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, confirming its status as a Charleston treasure. You can stroll through the gardens, walk the esplanade, or spend some time at one of the many fountains. Spanning over 8 acres and located less than a mile north of The Battery, Waterfront Park has become a beloved Charleston fixture. It is home to one of the city's most photographed sites: the pineapple fountain. In Charleston's scorching summer months (and we faced that too), visitors (especially children) can be found cooling off in the shallow water of the fountain. Wide walking paths, dozens of benches, well-manicured green spaces, picturesque Palmetto trees, and a famous Pineapple Fountain adorn the park.
