The dog park here is absolutely amazing. They have a small section for the small dogs and a huge section for the large dogs., it is right under the 526 via dock on the water. Everyone lets their small dogs play in the big dog park as long as all the big dogs there are well behaved. It's a great way to meet fellow dog lovers and let our furbabies have some great off leash play time. The way they have done the park is just amazing. It isn't just a fenced in 20x20 piece of earth. They have trees and shrubs and lots of things there to attract the pets attention. The only problem I have seen there is the occasional pet owner that doesn't have any respect for the rest of us, and doesn't pick up after their pet (Even though bags are provided in the park). So, while its gorgeous and I appreciate the city giving us such a beautiful piece of land to let our pets play off leash, you do have to watch where you and your pet step because there is always several large dog piles that have gone unpicked up. It's sad to me that people can come out and enjoy something so nice and beautiful , that is completely free, and not have enough respect to pick up behind their dog. No one LIKES to do it, but it is what we do if we want to play in public areas!! So while most people out there are quick to run and pick up, there always has to be one that doesn't, one that thinks they are to good to pick up poop, and it's someone else's job to pickup behind their pet.
The park is beautiful and I would like to thank Daniel Island for designating such a beautiful space to our fur kids. read more
