The lobster roll was phenomenal I would highly recommend. He even accommodated and made it a hot lobster roll .

We had a nice late lunch here. The ambiance was very nice inside with a bit of a water view and a park view. The New England Clam chowder, was one of the better ones I have had lately. Not too thick or thin, decent amount of clams and bacon, potatoes while larger in size were cooked through. The mussels and their broth were delicious. The pork chop was spicy but good. The short rib dish was the favorite, with it's ample amount of red wine sauce and mash potatoes. Service was good (the restaurant was empty). read more

The food, service and ambiance are all second to one thing, the view! This place is quite a gem and needs to be visited more! It's a bit far from the village, but with ample parking and Billy Joel Park across the street, it's just amazing! read more

I went to this place for brunch with friends because we heard they had decent brunch menu. We went with the prefix meal option which was decently priced and it was bottomless. I ordered the fish taco thingies that were really bland and disappointing. My friend's did not enjoy their entree's either everything was bland and tasteless. The mimosas were not very strong and all around the food was disappointing. I only gave it two stars because the decor and set up were nice and the view was lovely. All in all I have definitely had better brunch experiences foodwise and I would not go back. read more

Excellent restaurant and venue. Crab cakes yum salmon burger the best. Would go again .

A gem... I recently moved to Huntington. I wanted a restaurant that had a nice view, good food, and nice ambiance without being over priced. This place is a quaint spot, it's not a modern sexy restaurant, if you want a place to take family this is it! The view of the bay is so nice and the lobster roll was pretty good. My husband enjoyed his food also. It was a quiet Saturday and we made reservations. The menu has a great price point and there is a lil something on the menu for everyone. read more

Cute looking place. Service was good. Love the outside view. Nice ambience. I would definitely come again

I am changing my star rating from 1 to 2 stars. The owner of this restaurant was very upset by my review. He managed to figure out who our party was ( I am guessing as a result of mentioning the broken table.). He contacted my Dad who had made the reservation, apologized profusely and offered him a generous gift certificate. He did NOT ask him to change the review ( in which case I would not have don so.). His sincere concern over this reflection on his restaurant was apparent and I feel confident he will make every effort to prevent problems in the future. My review still stands as there is nothing there that isn't true... But in deference to the concern showed by they restaurant I am changing the star ranking. I wish I could change it to three stars but I just really can't. I have to assume that the thanksgiving crowd was just more than they could comfortably handle. I'm not sure where to start... if you read my other reviews you will notice that I don't often go into detail... in this instance I feel compelled. We went for Thanksgiving 2012. a group of 7. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambience.. and hoped i would be pleasantly surprised... Surprised I was, but it was not pleasant. The wait staff was flippant and rude... a few comedic remarks upon sitting down,a broken table that was shrugged off by the staff with a "deal with it" attitude.. So far not a a great start but I was still willing to be open minded... Then came the food. We tried the mixed green salad ( unimpressive and it was spinach, not mixed greens).. the Ceasar salad was a litlte better. The stuffed clams casino were SANDY... seriously, improperly cleaned... or not cleaned at all. The flavor was ordinary. Mozzarella and tomato salad... rubberized commercial mozzarella and cello tomatos. Most of the food went back to the kitchen and the wait staff never inquired why. They never offered us pepper and they never asked us if we needed anything. The entrees were disastrous on all counts. The turkey was tough and dry. The seafood linguine was rubbery, about 50% calimari rather than the clams, mussels and shrimp as described... and the sauce tasted as if the chef dumped a jar of oregano into canned sauce.. UGH. ( i would add here that a good cioppino or boulliabase is my favorite meal. I could not eat this... even the pasta was improperly cooked!) The Lamb shank was marginally tasty although the sauce was a bit overpowering.. they managed to ruin this dish as well by ladling copious amounts of sauce over the lamb and "risotto"...Again most went back to the kitchen, and again no one bothered to ask. By the time desserts came, we were not hopeful. Rightly so. The tiramisu was NOT tiramasu... rather lady fingers, espresso and whipped cream. We were assured the apple strudle was without raisins and without nuts. One in our party can not eat nuts for medical reasons, the other has a strong distaste for raisins. The studel arrived with both raisins and nuts. I ordered the pumpkin pie and requested a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it.. I was refused and told to take a spoonful from my husbands dish of vanilla ice cream which was served half melted. We tried to flag down a server, but had no luck until someone came around asking if we wanted the check. We said yes, anxious to leave this nightmare of a Thanksgiving. The check arrived with a number of small extraneous items added to our check that we never ordered. Extra soft drinks etc... We had to flag down our waiter to get the items removed. Honestly I thought our waiter blushed a little when we showed him the "errors"... and they certainly didn't argue about removing them The service was abominable and the food inedible. No one in our party enjoyed their meal and our host was actually apologized at having brought us here for Thanksgiving. Be warned. read more

If for nothing else come now and try the Artichoke appetizer they have on special. It has to be hands down the best artichoke we've ever had. The pork chop was amazing, even though a little over cooked; the veal was good. The flan was perfect and unexpected. The service was first class and worth coming in especially if you had our server Justin; super polite and knowledgable and made the best suggestions. read more

Harbor Mist has everything going for it - great food nice people excellent service spectacular views and a haunted history. The harbor mist restaurant is in one of the oldest homes on long island dating back to the days of whaling. The building is beautifully preserved and decorated in keeping with the history it's clean bright and nautical. The food is seasonal and wonderful we have tried everything on the menu. We have dined here many many times from lunch dinner holidays and sunsets. weekend lunch at the bar in front of the fire is especially nice. The owners treat you like you are a guest in their home and that translates to everyone that works there. A lovely gem in a beautiful historic building situated on the beautiful coast of the harbor. read more

A great view but stuck in 1980 North shore of Long island has limited number waterfront restaurants thus this location should be optimal. Second floor dining room with windows over the water in Cold Spring Harbor - this has potential! The young manager could not be more friendly and responsive - he can certainly run a busier place. Friday after Thanksgiving is slow but 20% occupancy is worrying - I think I know why. Time has stopped at this restaurant around 1980. The wait staff was uninterested, passed menus around in stacks and showed no interest in introducing specials. when asked what the daily soup was he directed me to the specials list. Drinks - order for a vodka Gibson straight up came on the rocks - fix was to take the ice out and pour the now watery drink into a martini glass - please don't! Food was from 1980 as well, old fashioned and tired looking. Plating is not the chef's strong suit. My wife and I ordered the same meat - flank steak - with different temperatures in different type of dishes. I received hers and she received mine. The common theme for both steaks was that they were so full of connective tissue that even a steak knife could not cut a piece off. The waiter was indifferent but the young manager acted well and agreed to replace the meat - sadly the kitchen was so slow responding that we had finished our meals and the re-fire ended up in a doggie bag - the dog loved it! The location has potential but the restaurant has passed its prime. My recommendation to the owner(s) is to contact the TV show Restaurant Impossible. Cold Spring Harbor and the North Shore deserves a great restaurant! read more

Excellent food. Great service. I would suggest making a reservation. The only problem I had was that the parking was a bit of a pain. But otherwise great experience and awesome views of the water. read more

Finshed visiting Cold Spring harbor Museum. GPS restraunts in the area. It was right up the road from museum. Seated upstairs, over looking the bay. The atomsphere was relaxing. Service was excellent. Ordered from the lunch menu. Food was excellent. This is going to be one of my favorites, when I am in the area. read more

Very nice place, inside was newly redone, entering and leaving by car, a bit dangerous, busy road, with high speed traffic. Staff polite, attentive, food selections plentiful, we went on Tuesday, with the half price full menu, my wife had the pork chop,I had the linguine with clams. My wife love her chip, clam sauce was excellent, plenty of clams, disappointed with the pasta, it lacked the cooked fresh consistency, and flavor, too bad as the sauce was excellent. Would rate decor excellent, staff top notch, food average. Would go again....but ask for spaghetti with the clam sauce. read more

Everything here is great. The food, the service, the view, everything was great. Ordered the mussels in marina- I could literally eat these for days, I was actually sad when there were no more left. For our entrees, I ordered the seafood risotto, once again I could eat this for days. The risotto was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend ordered the caramelized scallops, they were also cooked perfectly and perfect size. Will definitely be back read more

Loved the view, the fine food, and the exceptional service. I had the surf and turf which was perfect in Kebobs.

Went there tonight for Thanksgiving dinner and was not disappointed. The shrimp cocktail I had for an appetizer was fresh and delicious. The turkey dinner was also delicious and the turkey was piled high. The staff was friendly and attentive and there was a nice atmosphere to the place. It was a cold night so we were fortunate to be seated near the fireplace (with a real roaring fire - not a cheap gas imitation). I'd go back again. read more

Owner is RUDE ! After asking a simple question about he brunch he rudely hung up on me! Not even a thank you for calling or goodbye, just awful, I will never go there based on this experience with the OWNER, the OWNER no less. Just terrible read more

We went for mother's day. The prices were high for the food they served. The bread was cheap white rolls and they served bland, tasteless humus to go with it. The servings were small. The chef does not season the food at all. No taste what so ever. The service is slow. And, the puke peach color of the walls and tacky 1970's painting didn't help the ambiance. Too bad we could not even enjoy the water view on the second floor because of the many telephone wires that block the water view and take away from the beauty. read more

Excellent food, service and ambiance here at the Harbor Mist! Came for brunch after pumpkin picking. The new England clam chowder was superb--full of clams perfectly cooked, exceptional all around! Crab cakes, avocado chicken BLT and french toast very good. read more

How difficult it is to find a restaurant that has a water view with professional and friendly staff and lastly gourmet food. Certainly, Harbor Mist fits the bill on all accounts. I went to lunch with my girlfriend to celebrate my birthday. What a treat we had. We were first greeted by a warm and friendly waiter that seated us upstairs where we had the best view of the harbor. The staff were more than happy to please. We both had a salad with chicken that was light and simply delicious. I also had a Thai calamari that was outstanding. Thinking that I had enough to eat, out came the most refreshing frozen sherbet in an orange. While I couldn't finish everything, my husband was most delighted to have my doggy bag. Thank you chef Romone!! read more

High price for Mediocre food. Adequate service. Too many children or a Saturday night. Needs to be refurbished. Very average.

Excellent dinner last night. All of our dishes were well prepared and properly served. The Crab Cake appetizer deserves special mention. Crabby with little filling, in a delicious sauce. Probably the best I have ever had. Given it was New Year's Eve, the pace of service was reasonable and the noise level acceptable. read more

Been passing this place forever on the way to the cold spring hike and finally gave it a try this Tuesday evening to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The decor is lovely in all parts of the restaurant. Updated, modern, with a chic nod to the nautical. We were greeted upon arrival by Peggy who was very welcoming and had a consult about table choice. We chose to wait a few minutes to be by the upstairs window. While we waited, we had an interesting chat with Michelle about the interesting history of the restaurant. Service was efficient and friendly. We were served fresh bread with a delicious hummus, gratis. We had tuna tacos, clams oreganota, and clam chowder, all tasty. My daughter ordered linguine with meatballs which was surprisingly delicious for a seafood restaurant. Sam was pleased with his linguine seafood dish and the salmon was presented beautifully and cooked to order. Tiramisu dessert came with a festive sparkler that ended the meal perfectly. The dining room has a great vibe topped off with that harbor view. read more

Very nice place. We were a large table (12) and that's always difficult for the servers. I think I enjoyed everything around the food more than the food itself. The food Looked delicious. Freshly prepared and clean but was tasteless. The omelet, the salads, the meat, even the fries. It was all served beautifully but it was completely blan. Still the place was very nice, pretty and clean and able to accommodate bigger parties. Maybe the Chef forgot the spices that day... read more

Really nice place currently featuring a gal, Anita Starlite, who sang all valentine's evening. She made the food taste better and distracted us from the shaming we were receiving for three no shows from our group that was supposed to be eight. Oh well....still very solicitous service and tasty food in the end. Pretty to dine there at sunset. Oh...and those three 'no shows'? Don't accept any invitations from them. read more

Harbor Mist - Seafood Near Me - Cold Spring Harbor, New York

The brunch deal was a bit confusing because they give you a menu telling you to choose anything on it and you'll get two mimosas or bloody marys with it for $24, but then the menu has prices by each item, ranging from $10 to $18. We did the brunch anyway, choosing the more expensive choices (I had the steak sandwich and my mom had the pecan crusted tilapia). Both were generous portions and we both had to take home half of them. For the price/portion ratio, it was a good value, but it may be better to go ala cart and save some money. read more

Come here for the view, not the food and you will be happy. I've had better diner food. Crab cake was all breadcrumbs. Salmon is tasteless and poor quality. Salmon burger is even worse. Staff was lovely, although they did fail to put my salad dressing on the side. Salad was not the freshest either. The dining rooms are lovely as is the bar. The bartender didn't know how to make a Brandy Alexander so I take it he is not formally trained. Too bad this place doesn't set a higher standard for themselves. I will not be returning. read more

As a regular customer to this restaurant I've always had a great experience with all the staff but today was absolutely shocking and digusting. I brought my friend here for dinner who was visiting from Florida and we sat at the bar to eat. There was a bald bartender there who was beyond rude, distresputful and insulted both myself and my friend when we asked for additional bread he told us to get the fuck out of the restaurant. An employee telling customers to get the fuck out of a restaurant in front of other customers screaming and roaring was unbelievable. We could not believe it was actually happening Not sure if he was on something but the owners were not present today as they normally are. It is employees like this who destroy a restaurants reputation that the owners worked so hard for. Very upsetting experience. Not one other employee tried to diffuse the situation or calm this employee down who was acting like a crazed madman. In my years in New York, I have never seen anything like this. Shocking. To follow up from this horrific incident, the owners of this restaurant are lovely people and if where present on this day, this incident would never have happened. This review is only based on an employee who treated customers so badly that I hope will be fired who tried to ruin a quality restaurant that the owners created. It's very upsetting to see people like this destroy a beautiful restaurant that owners work so tireless to maintain and its reputation. read more

The view is breathtaking and the decor charming but the food was a disappointment. We had lobster rolls plated with a European mix salad and French fries. The lobster salad was literally swimming in mayonnaise with the ratio of bermuda onion and celery to lobster meat heavy on the vegetable components. The predominant flavor was certainly not lobster! The salad was limp and tasted pre-mixed. The French fries were the best part of the meal - crispy and tasty. I can't recommend this restaurant based on our limited selection. read more

Just had a delightful dinner at Harbor Mist. Sat upstairs by the window and looked out at he bay. The walls are a soothing melon color. It was quite a romantic setting. We had a 3 course pre-fixe and it was quite reasonable. The chopped salad was very fresh and the dressing was light. We both had the pork chop dinner. The chop was large, but still cooked well and tasty. The veggies were also flavorful. For a desert, I had the lightest and creamiest tiramisu I've ever had. On top of the very good food and pleasant surroundings, the wait staff was very professional; they helped to make it a pleasurable experience. I recommend going on a week night. It was relaxed and quiet; in fact we nearly had the place to ourselves. Given the level of service and the quality of the food, I am surprised the place wasn't packed. read more

Where to start? Sat for 15 min waiting for anyone to come by with water and possibly take a drink and food order. Literally watched waitstaff continually pass our table without stopping. Then luckily the evening improved as soon as Kate became our guardian angel. We were given Thai calamari and wine on the house. Then we were inundated with waitstaff asking us constantly if we needed anything. All our entrees were very good and the view is awesome. If they can get their act together it would be a perfect restaurant for a nice night out. read more
