In-house hummus made twice daily
Yudelka S.

HONESTLY, I NEED TO TELL THE TRUTH. IF I could give them 10 stars I would. Found myself in Farmingdale around dinnertime and called the restaurant for the wait time. Luckily the friendly voice told us to come right in, she'd hold a table for us. Arrived and most tables were taken but a nice table for 4 was provided, near the counter and away from the door. We were warmly greeted by co-owner Derya and assisted by Alfredo as well. Received waters and menu promptly. A delicious in-house hummus arrived with pita bread and it was spectacular. Lots of Mediterranean restaurants serve hummus but not like this. It's made fresh twice a day and I could've eaten a bowl of it. Throughout our meal Derya and Alfredo checked in on us often, along with another staff member(sorry I didn't get her name), and felt right at home. We quickly scanned the menu and decided to order. We ordered calamari and the seafood bisque (which was incredible) to start and a Whole Stuffed Lobster, the Shrimp Scampi and the fileted Branzino. My lobster was fresh and delicious, they're delivered from Maine. It was served with a corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. The Branzino also had the potatoes and spinach, very tasty. It was flaky and flavorful. The shrimp scampi looked amazing. over a bed of angel hair pasta with oil&herbs, my daughter cleaned her plate!!! Although we barely had room we did order both desserts offered, the strawberry short cake and the chocolate cake, sourced from a local bakery. Both were most and delicious, light and not too sweet. No coffee was available so we ordered tea. Bathroom was very clean. Overall I must agree with all the other 5 star reviews, you must come here. Ask for Derya the owner, she'll take good care of your group. Can't wait to revisit in warmer weather, when we can sit in the back terrace area, which fronts the paid parking lot.

Four of us had dinner on Saturday. Small dine in area. Good service. Our seafood was very fresh and tastily made. We started with crispy calamari (very flavorful) and baked clams. The group liked both. I had the lobster roll which had alot of lobster meat ($39) though the sides were lacking. Fries tasted heavy and dense with a very small serving of coleslaw. The sesame encrusted tuna was ok as it was a small thin piece though cooked well. The red snapper fillets looked very good. The starter house hummus was very good. It was nice to bring our own wines.

This is one of those stories that makes this restaurant legendary! My wife and son do not eat seafood, but we went here to celebrate a very big deal that we had just completed, and in order to celebrate the wins that we have in life, I always have lobster! When I went to order my lobster, they told me that they did not have any because there was an accident with the truck that was coming from Maine. We looked at each other and knew that was going to be a big problem and we explained that lobster was our way of celebrating life. This is where it gets interesting, Ihab runs out the back door to find a lobster to cook for me in order to allow me to have my lobster and celebrate! You can't make this stuff up! These people deserve an award for going above and beyond! The meal was amazing, very healthy ingredients, I especially like their sweet potatoes.. We will definitely be back! It's a beautiful restaurant with beautiful ambience, but more important was the love that these owners showed us. Thank you.

Red snapper

Food, service, ambience all terrific. Large portions at reasonable cost. Large patio in back for outdoor seating.

Blue Point Oysters were really fresh from the ocean !

The seafood is so fresh that it taste like it was just fished out of the water and onto the plate! The appetizers of oysters and steamed mussels were superbly made, the main dishes of seafood skewers and grilled branzino were out of this world good! The service was very attentive and professional while the atmosphere of the location was classy. Will be my go to seafood restaurant for fresh tasty seafood!

Our server, Gina V., was delightful, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. The owner, Joe, also stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect, which truly showed how much they care about their guests. The last time I dined here, I ordered the 4-pound stuffed lobster, and it was so memorable that I couldn't resist ordering it again. It was just as delicious as I remembered--loaded with shrimp and scallops, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. I chose the New England clam chowder as my side, which was excellent as well. The portions were incredibly generous, and I ended up taking most of my meal home to enjoy later. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp and flounder combination and loved it. He said the fish was very fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Once again, we left thoroughly satisfied.

At first I was somewhat bummed we missed the DJ night on Friday and Sunday brunch but one of the coworkers said "you came on a good day, Achilleas is your waiter." I didn't know that meant much at the time but Achilleas absolutely did not disappoint. He brought humor, laughs and our food, what was not to love? He continued to impress us from remembering our whole party's names, orders and all small facts about each individual one of us. He kept us laughing so hard that even my friend suggested they advertise "Achilleas Night" on the front door. If you're curious, follow his instagram @theothersideofgreece - him and his wife have their own travel company. Now to talk about the amazing food... to begin, if you didn't order the French Toast Sticks for an appetizer, YA DONE MESSED UPPP!! Go back, and order two of them, maybe three (it's 6 huge pieces each - not the time to count calories) ! I don't do French toast but I'd never go against the crew and I'm glad I didn't pick this day to waver. They were perfectly sweet, crunchy, warm & doughy . Then just when I thought we were done, Achilleas slides out with two complimentary desserts, one for me (birthday) and another for my two friends that had a big engagement that we are still celebrating! The complimentary cake was surprisingly delicious. It was vanilla birthday cake served warm with a scoop of ice cream, sprinkles and whip cream and my mouth is still watering over it. Needless to say, we're all looking for reasons to get together on an Achilleas night again.

The place has a good amount of seating area including high tops, low booths, bar table, and a private room. There is also two unisex restrooms. I came with my boyfriend before an event at Farmingdale State College and we were on a time crunch. I made a reservation on OpenTable but it was not busy at all. We got greeted and seated immediately upon walking in. Then, a server came with ice water for the both of us before our actual waiter came to introduce herself and ask if we were ready to order. Shortly after ordering, the waitress brought us a plate of complimentary bread that comes with garlic on top and olive oil dip on bottom. We got the fried calamari which was perfectly battered (not too little nor too thick) and fried perfectly (not too burnt nor too pale). The taste was great and went well with the marinara sauce. The Clams Oreganata were delicious too - very meaty and flavorful with a nice sauce and lemon to squeeze on top. The Clams Vespa is very unique and creamy. It reminds me of a white Alfredo sauce with baked clams. They had a huge variety of drinks and it was hard for me to choose, but the lady recommended me the Sicilian Kiss which is a strawberry flavored cocktail. It is supposed to be on the sweeter side but the alcohol was strong too. As for our main entree, we got the Papperdelle Bolognese which was a veal, pork, beef ragu on ribbon pasta. Very well cooked and the taste and texture went perfectly together. We were so full, but never skip on dessert! I'm personally not a fan of cheesecake, but they have creme brulee cheesecake and rainbow cookie cheesecake which I would have loved to try if it wasn't for the cheesecake. But I was happy to find out I could order the rainbow cookie gelato that usually comes with the cheesecake. That was yummy! The texture reminded me of the cake mix Ice-Cream from Carvel and the flavor is not too strong. Overall, great vibes and service. Will definitely be back to the the pizza and other pastas.

That's the kind of place you'll want to linger long after your plate is empty. We had French Onion Soup, and it was everything you want from a classic. Rich, deeply caramelized onion broth with incredible savory flavor, topped with a toasted baguette that soaked up just enough broth while still keeping a little bite. The bubbling layer of melted mozzarella and Swiss stretched with every spoonful. There was a flavor I couldn't place, but had me thinking herbaceous Italian seasonings, which isn't typically the flavor profile of French onion soup, gave it a unique flavor and made every bite more irresistible. The Asian Chicken Salad was anything but ordinary. Crisp romaine and crunchy red cabbage were tossed with tender grilled chicken, crunchy cashews, and fresh scallions. We got the sesame ginger vinaigrette on the side, which struck the perfect balance of nutty, tangy, and slightly sweet. Every forkful had a fresh crunch followed by a burst of bright, savory flavor that kept us coming back for another bite. The Chicken Taco Salad arrived in a crispy tortilla shell that was almost too pretty to break into, but we're glad we did. Juicy marinated chicken, creamy avocado, fresh pico de gallo, sweet corn and black bean salsa, chopped greens, and a generous blend of Mexican cheeses were all tied together with a smoky chipotle-lime vinaigrette. Cool sour cream mellowed the gentle heat, creating the perfect combination of creamy, smoky, zesty, and fresh in every bite.

My brother has always wanted to try this place, but we never had a chance to actually step foot inside the Library Cafe. As the name suggests, the restaurant sits at the site of the old town library, and the bar area has tall shelves and a rolling ladder to pay homage to the name. To maximize the restaurant week menu, three of us tried different appetizers. The ahi tuna taco was the best of the lot- crispy shell and nicely prepared tuna filling. The Thai calamari was a little too overcooked and the sweet sauce was cloying. I didn't get to try too much of the French onion soup because my dad almost inhaled it whole, but it was gooey and comforting. I had the honey-soy glazed salmon with broccolini. The salmon was a little dry, but the glaze and cashew went well with it. Maybe a touch of spice could have improved the dish. The broccolini was nicely textured and not too bitter. My mom's fish and chips were underwhelming, though the not-proper "chips" were well fried and seasoned. It was not served with vinegar either. My brother had the Buddha bowl which he enjoyed and felt was a good health conscious option. I did love that they allowed my dad -- who was not feeling too well-- to order just an entree while the rest of the table had the restaurant week menu. I know some restaurants require all members of the table to order off the prix fixe menu sometimes. He had the burger, which was cooked very precisely to medium-rare. We did have dessert though we were stuffed at this point. The sticky toffee pudding cake was lovely, moist, and so decadent without being overly heavy. I ordered the wild berry cheesecake, and while the clearly house made berry compote was a nice touch, it was just a little underwhelming next to the sticky toffee pudding. Overall, we had a good time at the Library Cafe, and though service was a little slow due to sudden rush of diners, it was a fun little weekday dinner. I did see signs for their happy hour, which I'd love to try-- especially their cocktails named after writers!

We got there right at noon and quickly realized we weren't the only ones in on the secret. Within minutes, the place filled up with hungry diners ready to dig in. We both went for the lunch special (because how could you not?). I ordered the shrimp & mussels, and my daughter went with crab & shrimp. Everything arrived in that classic messy-in-the-best-way seafood boil bag, drenched in that rich, buttery, seasoned sauce that you just have to mop up. The deal also comes with an appetizer and a drink, which makes it feel like an absolute steal. The shrimp were a little stubborn to peel but let's be real, that's part of the seafood boil experience. Nothing was slowing us down. The vibe was lively, energetic, and a little chaotic in that fun, "everyone's here to eat" kind of way. Service was solid and kept things moving even as the place packed out. If you're craving seafood without breaking the bank, this lunch special is 100% worth the trip. My daughter left happy and that alone makes it a win.

For starters, the hostess had a RBF and zero personality. The roll of napkins on the table had food fingerprints from diners past. My son promptly switched the roll with another table. That should have been my warning. We order our drinks and appetizers and requested 2 glasses of water when we placed our drink order. Drinks come-no water. We request the water again and this time one glass comes out. There were two of us. Ok. Not really impressed with the level of attention from our server/s. Appetizers come out, which were fine, and then the meal arrives. I ordered the lunch special Cajun boil. I eat a few shrimp which were delicious, and I crack into the crab leg and the meat is gray. Mushy. Clearly spoiled. I immediately return the dish and when the manager comes to speak to me, he leads with "we changed vendors 3 days ago, and I would offer you another boil but since you didn't like it, I'm afraid the other crab might be the same". Because I didn't like it?! It was clearly spoiled and someone in your kitchen isn't doing their job. After a few more words, finally the apology come out (which is what he should have led with) and a 50 dollar gift card to another VC. He should have comped the entire meal!! The way this manager handled this situation was extremely poor and left a very sour taste in my mouth. This should have ended here. Alas, it did not. Because I ate the shrimp in the voodoo sauce from the boil, (which was contaminated) I got violently sick that evening. Vomiting, stomach cramps and was on the toilet seat on an off for 6 hours. Violently ill. I was unable to sleep because of the unbelievable discomfort. I ended up needing an IV of 2 1,000 ml bags of sodium chloride, Zofran for nausea and medication to stop the stomach cramping. Never ever again. They lost me as a customer.
