We had such a great experience at New Wave Seafood that I felt compelled to write this review. We went as a family of five and decided to step outside our comfort zones--every one of us tried a type of seafood we hadn't had before. Not a single regret. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared perfectly. What really stood out was the staff. They were incredibly patient and kind with our sons, taking the time to explain different fish, what they taste like, and what they might enjoy most. That level of care turned dinner into an experience, not just a meal. The restaurant was immaculate, the servers were courteous and genuinely friendly, and the overall atmosphere made us feel welcome from start to finish. It's rare to find a place that nails food, service, and family friendliness all at once, but this place does. We'll absolutely be back. read more

Overpriced for what you get. Ordered the fish and chips and it looked like it came out of a frozen box I could get at the supermarket. There were 4 thin strips of fish with an oily coating. Nothing like you find in a real fish and chips shop in the UK, not even close. The $10 lobster bisque soup we were told has "chunks" of lobster in it. What we got was a pinky nail size piece of claw meat. What a sorry item. Our waiter vanished and was never seen again, we were left for dead. Overall a disappointing expensive meal. I hadn't visited New Wave Seafood for years, so was happy to see that their previously tired decor had been nicely modernized and refreshed. A friendly staff member greeted us and took our lunch order promptly. I had a hankering for a lobster roll so went with their warm version of the dish, priced at $37.00 including fries. (One can order a cold mayo-dressed version of the lobster roll as well.) While the portion of lobster was very generous, the meat itself was chewy, dry and bland. It wasn't terrible, but not the best I've had by a long shot either. Iced tea wasn't fresh brewed so I didn't get a free refill. My partner's clam strips were small pieces with a thick coating. While seafood based, the menu also includes items like burgers and chicken. While my last meal there wasn't great, I would consider stopping by again to try other items on their large menu. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised how good new wave is! I've been in search of good quality whole belly clams for the past 10 years that doesn't involve having to take a road trip to New England and I've finally found it! The clams were perfectly cooked and so juicy/plump. The way it was prepared with garlic and butter was unique too bc usually it's just steamed plain. The fried clams were equally amazing and price point is very fair. They even let us bring our dog in and our server was the sweetest man ever. Will be back regularly! read more

Found this place via Yelp, figured why not. Well the food was amazing! It's a restaurant that is attached to their fresh seafood market, nice size casual dining room. Came in on a Saturday night, there was a wait list but offered call ahead seating. We called ahead. The wait staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and polite. All of our seafood dishes were plentiful, fresh and the prices were excellent. We started with fried calamari with 3 different dipping sauces, and a crab cake, both excellent. Onto dinner, seafood medley, shrimp and scallop with signature crabmeat stuffing, sautéed soft shell crab and the 3 types of stuffed seafood. All of the dishes were delicious! Perfect! Garlic bread soft and yummy! Pecan pie for dessert nice and warm. Place is a golden gem! check it out.. you won't be disappointed. read more

I came here for lunch today. It's a seafood market and a restaurant on the other side of it's not fancy at all, which is what I expected. The waitstaff is friendly, accommodating, and on the ball. There were three of us and we each ordered the fried flounder sandwiches. The flounder was cooked perfectly and the breading in it was delicious. It was a generous dinner portion. Served on a soft roll. It came with fries, which were just ok, lettuce and tomato, and Cole slaw which I didn't like. The menu has a huge selection of seafood as well as apps, pasta and salad. I would definitely recommend the flounder, but I will go back to try another dish o. The menu. The desserts sounded so good but I was full from my meal and didn't order anything. I also want to mention the free refills of coke. That's always a plus. I can't wait to return for dinner. read more

Went to a early dinner yesterday, food is always on key and delicious. We did notice that they have made a new menu and raised prices. We have been eating here for years and understand food costs are sky high. I also love that they let you choose wild over farmed for an extra fee. Charming seafood market with a cozy pub styled dining room, serving up many different seafood delights. Very attentive staff on both sides starting with the very knowledgeable young man behind the assortment of that days fresh catch offerings on the market side, to the wait staff suggesting drinks while waiting to be seated to dine. Tried that days special red sangria, which was indeed jam-packed with fresh fruit as the waiter suggested. Tables side started with a very freshly prepared and sliced sesame ahi tuna and seaweed salad app and order of garlic bread. Great flavors, including that cusabi soy dipping sauce, not hot for those who need to know ;) We followed this with a grilled/broiled Branzino entrée for the Mr., and the Artichoke Sole entrée for me the Mrs. His tasted lovely as it was nicely prepared, but have to say my tasted that much better. ;) Delicate, soft sole with a bold buttery lemon wine sauce, which included capers and artichokes. Will say they don't have to be as light/soft there. A bit more capers and artichokes would have made this that much better and help evenly spread throughout to the end. My choice of roast potatoes and green bean carrots vegetables accompanied perfectly, but know you have the option to select any two of your favorite sides. We finished off the meal with a chocolate Lava Cake, where lava flowed out, which is nice! In addition to trying their Key Lime Pie dessert, which honestly felt and tasted more like a custard or pudding. So, there could be a tweak/change update there with that option. I've been coming to New Wave Seafood for a while, but my recent visit left me a bit disappointed. Prices have definitely gone up--at least 10% over the past couple years--and unfortunately, portion sizes seem to have gone down. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer, which was tasty, but it's now $19.99, and after tax and tip, you're looking at over $25 for a starter. It's just not worth that price point anymore. I get that costs are rising everywhere, but if you're going to charge more, at least keep the portions consistent. New Wave still has good quality seafood, but the value just isn't what it used to be. Hoping they take a look at the balance between pricing and portions. read more

It really saddens me to rate them 3 stars but it was just kinda disappointing. I had high hopes based on the other reviews and it gave mom and pop shop vibes which I love. The servers were all very nice. I didn't catch the name of the gentleman serving drinks, but he was a gem. The clam strips were kinda bland. I was so looking forward to the clam chowder. I feel like that's a seafood restaurant staple, it tasted like I was eating progresso clam chowder. The crab cakes were good. I like the sauce they gave on the side and the pulpo was very good. We got the Broiled Seafarers Combo. It was just okay. Perhaps we got the wrong things? Perhaps the market is where it shines? I would go to the market to get the crab cakes or fresh fish, but I don't know if I would return the restaurant. read more

Was looking for a local restaurant for teriyaki broiled salmon but this was the only option. I ordered it with side of green beans and carrots and rice. I did make the mistake of forgetting to order only a half pound, but I wasn't sure how much I was given. It was not broiled and was just too thick to be cooked properly. If it was marinated in the teriyaki then it certainly wasn't done long enough-needs to be a good 20 minutes or so for a half pound. Main problem was that for a piece that big it should have been split in half and each broiled separately. Broiled Teriyaki salmon needs to be done to just the right amount of crispness; ~ 7 to 8 minutes per half pound piece. And those veg sides had to have been sauteed with that HORRIBLE tasting seed oil that so many of LI restaurants and pizzerias use. I had to brush my teeth when I got home to be free of that ghastly aftertaste. They're all too cheap to use avocado oil. One big reason why I rarely dine out. So, like one reviewer here said this place is is well overpriced for what you get. read more

I've purchased seafood to go many times never tried their restaurant did so last night was so pleasantly surprised. Everything was excellent. I had the air California soup, which is a combination of Manhattan. Clam chowder and New England clam chowder named differently by many places, but it was excellent and I had the shrimp and scallops broiled stuffed with crab meat phenomenal my friend had the seafood chili and soft fish with Gorgonzola cheese excellent job guys will definitely be back read more

Casual ambience, lively, fresh seafood. Everyone was real nice, very crowded but the wait wasn't too long. The owner Patricia is really lovely. She came over to say hello and touch tables. A seafood market in the front of the restaurant is really clean with a large selection. I'll be back to shop when I'm ready to cook. Everybody is working hard and the food came out very quickly. First time at the restaurant. The main entrance takes you through their fresh fish market. The selection is great and everything looks and is really fresh. The menu offers seafood selections prepared in various ways offering many taste options...fried, blackened , white wine, garlic & butter of just plain grilled. Lobster prices are very fair and available in a few weights. Grilled scallops were cooked perfectly. Each main is available with a choice of two sides. Wine and beer. Plenty of parking. What a gem that we've never experienced before! Everything was great! From not needing to wait for a table to amazing service and delicious food, I am really so impressed with this restaurant. Our waiter was even able to place a take out for us from the to-go area. My hubby and I shared the cod cakes and shrimp Parm sandwich. My little one got a kids fried flounder sandwich and really enjoyed it! It even came with an ice cream sundae cup for dessert! HUGE plus! It was so much food, we ended up each taking home half of our meals! We are huge fans now and will be back again soon!! read more

First time ordering takeout from the restaurant. We've previously bought fish and seafood from the attached store with display windows and quality has been beyond cavil. Pick up of my coconut shrimp entree was from the restaurant register/hostess. There were eleven large deep fried shrimp. Didn't taste much coconut and the dipping sauce came off like duck sauce out of a plastic envelope, but otherwise the deep fried shrimp was very good anyway. The coleslaw was excellent. I asked for my French fries to be well done and they were. Looking forward to someday trying the restaurant for a sit-down dinner. read more

Really nice staff, setting was not fancy (thank Crom), really solid food. My wife ordered the crab cake sandwich which she enjoyed and couldn't finish. The portions are pretty big, good sizes. I got the fried seafood combo, it was very tasty and had a good selection. We normally don't get appetizers, but we got fried pickles tonight, they were good and had a nice remoulade dipping sauce. I took my stepdad here for a late Father's Day dinner. We started with the triple dipper calamari. It came with marinara, a sweet Thai type sauce and a teriyaki sauce. It had a nice flavor and each sauce gave the calamari a unique taste. Lightly fried to perfection. We shared New England clam chowder. Their soup only comes in "bowls" no cups. The soup was delicious! We both enjoyed it. The soup however came out shortly after the calamari and then my side salad came out. We definitely felt rushed. When our waiter brought out my salad my stepdad asked him if our entrees were coming out too and stated everything was coming out too quickly. Our waiter told us no...but there our food was in about 5 minutes. We absolutely felt rushed. Not a feeling you want to have when enjoying a meal. For my entree I had the scallop special. It was seasoned scallops topped with crabmeat stuffing. It had nice flavor. It came with two sides. As mentioned above I had a side salad and I also chose string beans. The string beans were less to be desired. They lacked flavor and tasted like string beans from a can. No seasoning or anything. It just wasn't good. My stepdad had the salmon teriyaki. He chose coleslaw and potatoes as his sides. He enjoyed the salmon and the potatoes. His coleslaw didn't come out with his meal and it took some time to get our waiter to bring it out. Never EVER again.....This has always been our go to seafood restaurant. Food and service always good. Arrived Friday at 5pm and seated immediately at a table for two. Is it my imagination but have you squeezed in several more tables in the main dining room? Noted that you HAVE added a table in the space that was reserved for retail take out. I felt like I was seated in the laps of the couple in the table next to us..... maybe a foot between the two tables. Too close, too noisy, too chaotic so it does not matter how good your food is. When we left at 6pm there must have been 30+ people waiting in the cramped area near the register. Difficult to even safely exit your restaurant. .....a fire hazard. After years of enjoying your restaurant we are now done. Not worth the crowded and chaotic (no reservations accepted) establishment you are promoting. read more

I ordered a selection of items to try via delivery. Here are my reviews of each: Twin lobster rolls-- perfectly done! Mayo, celery and a bit of onion, with a toasted bun that is chewy and fresh. Comes with fries, which were still warm and crispy. Excellent. Italian seafood salad- good vinegary taste, fresh seafood- shrimp, calamari with celery, olives and peppers. Why half of the container with bean salad though? Artichoke sole-- this was ok, the artichokes taste like the canned ones I got from Amazon, the rice was decent. Fried pickles- awesome! Slightly spicy, they should also provide a side of ranch, and it would be as good as the fried pickles from Cowfish. Lump crab cake-- toooo salty. Tone down the salt on this one! Not worth it for the price. The best crabcakes on Long Island are from Jordan's Lobster. Four stars, one star deleted for the aforementioned reasons. Good choice on Grubhub though. read more

I'd rate New Wave four and a half stars. Seafood market with a restaurant wing. All the seafood in the market looked great. The tuna and jumbo shrimp stood out to me. Would definitely be interested in returning to purchase items to cook at home. We had lunch in the restaurant portion. I had the seared and sesame crusted tuna. Cooked perfectly! Very lightly seared and then coated with a blend of white and black sesame seeds. Came with a fantastic wasabi sauce. I tried some of the small scallops and shrimp which were great too.
