a variety of fish on display

Best fish market ever. Amazing variety of fish. All fresh and mostly local. They sell either the whole fish or filets. Editors note, by the whole fish and they fillet it for you in the back. Tip them, it's worth it. Can't beat fresh.

We enjoyed the visit in this area. We enjoyed the boat ride via the water taxi. The sunset view…read moretrip was amazing. We were thinking that it would just be a boring ride that the tour guide will explain about the places we will be going. The ladies band music added to the great experience. We went for a pre-dinner at one of the historic sea grill restaurant along the mile-Otto Grill and enjoyed the live band as well as food and drinks with a view of the canal. There are many things to see and explore along the Nautical mile and staying during the night after the sunset boat trip was a very fun thing to do. Will I come back ? Sure , why not. I heard of their boat festival event during Christmas time.

I really love it here. It's got such a unique vibe, pretty much one of a kind in my opinion. While…read moreit's waterfront life, it's chock full of charm, character and diversity. I love the relatively new addition of the volleyball courts and the public workout station at the park along end of the mile. I'm also quite fond of the new restaurants that call the Nautical Mile home, namely Off the Hook and Secret Thai Kitchen. There's also a cute little ice cream shop called Sam's Scoops as well, which has a seriously yummy vegan cookies & cream flavor. My favorite thing to do on the mile is kayaking and spending a whole afternoon on the water. There's even a couple of "secret beach" islands, though they seem sort of inhabited, though fun to explore the perimeters of. Like I said, I really LOVE it here.

That's how PopPop does it does it. Perfect Peach Sangria & flavored Margaritas. The best tender sweet mussels we ever had. Finished up with the Termisu...... "Voila!!!" Christina was a great hostess. Very attentive and attractive too. Sorry...., EVERYTHING WAS SPOT ON!!! Nothing to complain about An easy 5 stars from Brooklyn PopPop!

Holy Moly!! I'm sure glad I followed my yelp elite friend's reviews to help me with dining here…read more TBH everything from the customer service, food and drinks was great!! I made reservations thru opentable, but when arriving I saw some availability inside and outside. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter was Rich, he was friendly, funny and attentive to what we ordered. He apparently juggles apples too impressive lol but they are great at this restaurant. Food: I had the lobster mac and cheese and the not so old fashioned, both were delicious. My friends had shrimp and fries with the rum punch as well as the chicken and drink with prosecco and with a juice that made it turn purple pretty cool. I believe it came with a lemon drop shot. Appetizers we got the calamari and mozzarella Rangoon delish. We sat outside in front on the mile but I hear they have seating in the back area near the water. Definitely come here!! I will definitely come back here and try a few other dishes as well. Keep up the good work and great tasting food and drinks.

Appetizers, Empanadas, although flavorful, came lukewarm, at best, as if they had been sitting under a warm lamp waiting for their name to be called, instead of cooked to order. The Guacamole, the same. Brownish, as if it sat in the molcajete awaiting the next guest's order. Accompanying Plantain Chips the same. They should be cooked to order and served hot tableside. The Fried Cheese is a good addition. You should not taste stale oil that it was fried in though. The Mofongo (Chicken) was decent, although a tad stiff (it definitely needed the Amarillo sauce.) The fried Chicken Strips again, should've been hot but were lukewarm. The Mofongo's serving amount was smaller than what we're normally used to but it's a dish we could reorder. The Seafood tower lacked flavor and was overcooked. Every piece of Seafood curdled (Shrimp, Lobster Tails). The Crablegs seemed old, as they had black spots on some of the legs. The Tower definitely needed the Sauce, which seemed prebottled and not exclusive. It doesn't take much to make an Housemade Seafood Boil sauce versus just providing an oily pre-bottled one. The Grilled Chicken with Rice and Beans, seems like a safe bet but here are the issues/concerns: 1. The Grilled Chicken flavor was fantastic and the Char was perfect! The Chicken itself was rubbery and congealed, as if it was wet brined too long. Rendered it inedible. The rice was good but the Frijoles severely lacked flavor or a decent amount of beans. Fallen skin from overcooked beans does not count! The Drinks were worrh coming for. The Coquito, Berry Smash and Manhattan were all fuerte (strong) and REALLY good! BE CAREFUL to NOT PARK in the lot adjacent to the right. They do have a dedicated lot on the left, behind the main restaurant and next to their Hookah across the street by the docks. It's gravel so watch your heels ladies They play music so it'sa fun vibe. Puerto Plata is a good time if you eat first and come for drinks and music afterwards.

With plenty of parking, friendly service and good seafood, Puerto Plata is a local favorite. Add to…read morethat their megamixes and it's a complete hit!! A megamix is a frozen alcoholic beverage that comes in a glass in different colored swirls. We didn't ask what was in it but be careful, 2 can be dangerously!! We were a group of four and had their chicken wings as appetizers and shared their seafood bucket for two. The bucket had salmon, jumbo shrimp, lobster, broccoli, carrots and I may be missing a vegetable or two. For dessert, we had a chocolate lava cake with a side of vanilla ice cream. Super delicious!
