We tried this place despite the low stars because of the view! Should have listened to the reviews. I got the fish and chips. $21 bucks and I have had better frozen fish. The kids chicken strips was not even Eatable as under cooked. The kids corn dog did not come out till we were done eating. Hamburger was good! Fries were good. Beautiful atmosphere but we went their with our company that were visiting and unfortunately the music was so loud we couldn't hear what each other was saying so we will not being going back. We just stopped in for the first time. Food was delicious. Service was great. View was beautiful. Heather was our server and she was extremely patient and kind to our two young (very young) children. Yikes! Definitely won't return. Came in for lunch we were the only table in restaurant. I ordered a burger with no cheese due to a dairy allergy. I ever came out with cheese and butter on bun I let waitress know I couldn't eat it due to dairy allergy and she said "oh I'm sorry" since it took over an hour to get our food I didn't order anything else. When the bill came we were charged for the burger plus additional items we didn't add to the burger. When I asked her why we were charged she said it's because I ate the French fries bad food, bad service, slow service just overall not a great place. read more

I really love this place but when we stopped in Wednesday at 3 p.m. - we were told it would be a 30 minute wait to be seated. There were no tables taken lake side,and were told to just sit at the bar or over on the north side where there was no service. Not a way to welcome your "live here" patrons. Was this as a result of short staffed? Hope we have a better experience next time. To add to this - I stood at the bar for at least 5 minutes waiting for the bartender to acknowledge me and take my order. Not!! Think he was more interested in showing off his 'guns'. Stopped in here last night on our last night vacationing in Montana. One of the best trips we've ever taken as a couple anywhere. Will definitely be back. Wanted a nice sit down meal not cooked on a campfire so came to Harbor Grille after an entire day boating on the stunning Flathead lake. The place was packed but well spaced out, respecting distancing guidelines. All staff wore masks. Our server Hailey was young and noticeably "green" at first. She seems kind of nervous upon approaching our table at first but was extremely cheerful and upbeat. (Two things I always look for when hiring servers). She apologized up front for slow service from the kitchen as they had just sat a 20 top and a 10 which I LOVE from a management AND a customer perspective! (Transparent communication always wins) There were no lags however, so kudos to the kitchen staff as the apps, and entrees all arrived perfectly spaced and timed. Throughout the course of dinner Hailey became more relaxed, complimented my fiancé on her dress (major bonus points on this) and they struck up a convo on bargain clothes shopping. She checked on us often but didn't overdue it making it annoying. She bussed our table by herself and was incredibly upbeat despite a real downer of a boss/manager. The guy was very abrupt and short upon entering the restaurant and through observing through the night. Maybe he was just super stressed out or had a bad day, but as an owner I would pull my manager to the side and discuss or pull them off the floor if this were the case. So more bonus points to Hailey for this. At the end of the meal she actually apologized for talking to us too much which I told her was definitely unnecessary. I said she had done an amazing job and I would hire her at one of my restaurants to which she informed us in astonishment that it was her first night working. We complimented her work ethic and more importantly her positive attitude even more and tipped her generously. Food was good not amazing. Best views in town - a great place to take visitors coming to the lake for the first time. Food is generally very good - the smoked trout and calamari appetizers and the Cajun pasta are especially yummy. But they've had issues hiring - service will be slow. read more

After staying in Lakeside the last two summers, I finally got around to eating at Harbor Grille. It was great. The calm chowder is every bit as good as I have tasted including in New England. We have been planning a birthday dinner here for upwards of 2 weeks. Very important to us as we don't go out to celebrate often. The night of our reservation less than an hour and a half before our reservation they call us to tell us they canceled our reservation because of a wedding that they sold out to. They didn't give us any other explanation or offer to try to fix it at all. Commitment to customers is important and you could have at least given us a proper warning 2-3 days in advance. We're already planning a return trip. It's a beautiful setting inside or on the patio overlooking Flathead Lake. We stopped in during a drive for ice tea and the Ale in a Pail tempted. It's a tasty and generous serving of grilled shrimp, served with garlic bread. Super friendly service. We're coming back Sunday for one more meal before heading home to California. read more

Stay away from this tourist trap. We arrived and asked to sit inside since we had small children with us. We were told it will be a 30 minute wait. I looked around and there were only 2 people dining inside, I asked why it was such a long wait and was told it was because they need time for the kitchen to catch up. I looked over at the pass and the entire pass was full of food, the cooks where sitting there looking out while 3 wait staff and a manager where talking for 10 minutes right in front of the food. We sat down and got our food and it was plain, nothing to really write about except it was really expensive. For the price I was expecting alot more or better flavor. This is why I think this place is a tourist trap. Our waitress spent most of her time eating and talking with other workers on one of the tables near the kitchen entrance. We stayed at the Edgewater next door waited until the end of our vacation to go over and eat some grub. Had a steak sandwich of sorts I couldn't figure out what they were trying achieve with it was it a spicy sandwich or deli sandwich with pickle,there was no seasoning on the steak what so ever and the fries were grossly under cooked.My wife had fish and chips and the fries were under cooked also. They had great music but having a hard time understanding why so many people keep coming for this food. We heard that this place has just reopened under new ownership. Word of advice you better shape up your food and stop trying to please your old crowd or you will end up just like the previous owners. Very disappointed in this place!! The view and location are both beautiful. The restaurant has been newly updated and has great indoor and outdoor seating. We understand everyone is understaffed, and that puts a strain on service for many restaurants. However, in this situation, the host and server were both unfriendly, unwelcoming and provided awful service. We sat for over and hour waiting for our salads as tables around us came and went. Our server never checked back on us, and we could see her in the back room looking at her phone. The food was great, and we will be back another time just because of the great location. They're very new (I was there just three weeks after opening) and I expect they will get better because they seem to really care. Service was great - the staff did everything right, from making us feel welcome at the (kind of barren and too sunny but still appreciated) dockside patio area where one can drink beer and watch the waves while waiting for a table, to moving us away from the incredibly loud and obnoxious exhaust system from the kitchen to a much nicer dining table. We arrived around 5:45 on a Wednesday, and there was a short wait. There were empty tables so they weren't crazy busy. Lots of staff running around so they didn't appear short handed. There is indoor and outdoor dining, and all tables have a view of the lake. They appear to be expanding the outdoor area. Once we were seated, our waitress appeared promptly and took our drink order then disappeared for 15 minutes. We finally received our drinks (which we almost ran to the bar and picked up ourselves), and she took our food order. We waited another 30 minutes to get our dinner. Hardly worth the wait as the food was unremarkable. The clam chowder was a little strange as it was seasoned with what tasted like tarragon. It was very thick and consisted mostly of potatoes and bacon. The fish and chips had smallish, greasy pieces of fish. The fries were not very crispy and barely warm. The Caesar salad was typical. Our friend ordered shrimp with the salad that appeared boiled. There was no seasoning and no taste. They couldn't take the time to grill them or sprinkle a little something something on them? The tuna appetizer was the best. Charred on the edges and pink throughout. Served room temp so they weren't refrigerator cold. The slaw that came with the tuna appeared to have no dressing even though the menu mentioned "Asian". Dirty plates remained way too long on the table. Disappointing. We would not return. read more

I was so excited to try this place. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff well trained and on point. The food.... was unfortunately horrible. $300 dinner for 5 and honestly, the French fries and the ahi SAUCE not the ahi, were great. Salad was wilted. My daughter had food poisoning for 4 days from the cold bland calamari. The ahi was grainy, maybe not the freshest The 3 king crab plates were cold and chewy (but not unsafe) and the steak we had one bite and fed the rest to the dogs. I did call and gave it a good bit, but no one called me back after I was assured someone would. I REALLY JUST WANTED A GOOD NICE RESTAURANT to eat locally. Such a bummer. I bet the burgers are good, but unfortunately I did not order a burger for my birthday dinner. This was 11/19/20. read more

While the ambiance is fantastic, the food is subpar. My filet mignon was missing the prosciutto, the demi glaze and onions. The potatoes were...lumpy and didn't taste like potatoes!?. My cocktail was made incorrectly and they wanted to charge me $23 for it. My husband ordered the prime rib which was cooked to order but the aus jus was merely a beef broth. Waitress never asked how we liked the meal and was not happy when I asked her to adjust the bill. Get a burger and a beer, enjoy the view and you should be ok. read more

The Harbor Grille has the best view on the entire lake! Unfortunately, the service was subpar. We waited at the hostess stand as multiple waitress and what looked like a manager, walked by without even speaking to us. The hostess, who was also cleaning, busing, and setting every table, came back and move us to the bar until our table was ready. She seated three other small groups before us, before I had to get up to asked her when we would be seated. She admitted to forgetting about us and pointed outside and said, 'There's a table out there, for you guys', which we walked to by ourselves. Our waitress was no better. We rarely saw her, but saw other waiters and waitresses because they all came to the table asking to take our drinks. Clearly, there is no service/table 'order' because they didn't know which table was theirs or not. The food was even below that. Never had worse nachos or a Caesar Salad. We ordered chicken on the salad and it was pretty clearly re-heated frozen chicken breast. I know because they're the same frozen chicken breasts I buy at Costco. I'm not sure how you can mess up a tequila sprite, but they did that too. I meant what I said - this is the best view anywhere on the lake! Just don't expect good service, food, or drinks. Buy some food from Blacktail Market and eat it on the docks, you will have a much more enjoyable time. read more

Harbor Grille is a welcome delight on Flathead Lake. First impression is the view from being right on the water. Walking inside we noticed how very clean everything was and how friendly and knowledgeable the staff was too. But the real surprise was their New England clam chowder! We are from BOSTON so forgive our skepticism about finding great chowdah in Montana. The fact is this compares with the best in BOSTON. Maybe it's the abundance of clams, the bacon, or the spicing, whatever, it's very good. It makes us believe their other seafood offerings are definitely worth a try. We also ordered their portabello/guyerre burgers which were Angus, juicy, and flavorful. Question: Why do we find these great spots on the way to the airport on our last day??? read more
