Bought a Viking car battery jump starter to keep in my car for emergencies. When I finally needed to use it, the plastic handle broke off of the alligator clip exposing the bare metal. The rude cashier lady refused to exchange it because it was past the 90-day return window and I did not purchase the protection plan. Again, it was essentially brand new, never used. I didn't realize it needed to be protected from sitting in its own padded case in my car trunk. I asked if I could at least get a discount if I bought a new one, which she also rudely refused. Careful. I was charged restocking fee for returning an unused Waterhouse that was unopened, unused and in prefect originally packaged condition. The young lady with the purple hair said she would ask to waive it but she never did. This ain't wholesale. It's a retail store and none of its competitors charge restocking fees. read more

Harbor freight only offers 90 day warranty on there products. And if you don't buy there protection plan you are screwed. They dont fix them so to bad. I bought a portable battery charger for cars called CEN-TECH. This is there upgraded version which is less than a year old. The plug that charges the unit is loose and won't hold charge. The manager told me if you did not buy extended warranty we can't help you and they don't fix them. They make them but only give you 90 day guaranteed. I did not know that, but if I did I would of bought it somewhere else. So now you know the truth about harbor freight. read more

If you want deals Harbor Freight is the way to go. Customer service is good too and friendly. Everything is organized and easy to find and they almost always have additional discounts which is a plus. I like the cleanliness of the store and someone is always asking if I need help finding something. Returns are easy and that's a plus. Another plus is that the owner has donated all his PPE to the crisis while informing us via email which is awesome. Harbor Freight is my go to tools shop! read more

After months of wanting buy a Generator for emergencies, I finally stopped in Harbor Freight. I was ready to spend up to $1,000. I did have one Question? I asked the Woman who worked there what was The minimum wattage I would need to run my refrigerator? She then replied it depends on the size of the refrigerator. I had told her that I did not know the size so let's just say the biggest refrigerator. She was no help at all and wanted to argue with me about the size of a refrigerator instead of concentrating on selling me an expensive generator. All she had to say was this unit here will power a refrigerator and she would have had a sale. You will get no help in this place as the employees do not want to be bothered! Staff was very nice. Manager was very helpful. Alot of items are there own brand. Quality of there brand stuff is good. Not great. But, I believe they must be going for the home worker. Not contractors. I will come back for things like screw drivers. The tools that walk away. I just feel they do not have the contractor quality stuff. I will go to different stores for that. The deals this place has are nuts. I'm not one to get mailers and emails, but I have to admit this place has the best deals on tool that I've seen. Went in to buy a welder and the Manager Brian threw an unwarranted insult at me. He made a joke saying I couldn't afford their Protection Plan so why would I even consider upgrading my membership. I already paid for the "Inside Track Club" so I'm not sure what he was getting at. Either way I didn't think the joke was professional. Be aware of Brian, he can be toxic. Awesome customer service. I like these stores but I recently bought a tool box at this specific store and the whole experience was great. Jason was the cashier when I ordered it, when I picked it up and when I came in today. He has always provided outstanding customer service and took extra effort each visit to help me leave with my questions answered and feeling good about my purchases. Today, he and his supervisor/ manager took the time to help me while still dealing with a line. I was treated very well and am very appreciative. I bought a generator here on sale and when all was paid for it was about $1300. The first one stopped working in a week. I got a replacement and after a week the display stopped working and the petcock got stuck in the on position. Took it back, the girl inside checked it for gas, said it was fine and gave me another replacement. I took it home, built it, filled with gas and oil, turned it on and it doesnt work! I took it back once again, was told that since I bought this on sale that I shouldnt have a problem that Im now having to exchange it for a fourth time! Than they started playing games. Said there was still gas inside, and werent going to take it back. When I made it clear that they would in fact be taking this back one way or another, they had me wait while a different girl wiped the inside of the gas tank out with a rag. Thats right, they made her wipe this out just to make me wait. I had returned two others and this one had less gas than the first two. The girls who work here are more interested in playing games and exerting the small amount of power they have over the exchange process. read more
