Sorry -AWFUL EXPERIENCE. This restaurant has changed Chef's or Hands. I was extremely disappointed. Being a LOCAL for over 20 years, this PLACE Is not somewhere I will recommend anymore. First of all the Food was TASTELESS and had NO Flavoring at all. The Rice was boiled rice sitting in a pot served "WARM" Not "HOT" Actually Embarrassing. I didnt want to complain in front of our out of town guests - BUT HARBOR DOCKS - You need to do WAY BETTER! Fish was grilled with Maybe a Pinch of Salt - and Tasteless. The Cleanliness of the Place was disappointing and the Musty Smell just turned us off as soon as we walked in. My gut instinct was to turn around and leave but we had friends waiting at the table already. DONT Fool yourselves. After a successful day of fishing we decided to take our fresh snapper in to Harbor Docks to be prepared for our dinner. Waan, our waitress, was very attentive and personable. Before our main course arrived we enjoyed salad with mandarin oranges, almonds, and dressing. The decor of the restaurant and the view of the harbor made an enjoyable setting while enjoying the fresh grilled and fried fish. We went on a weeknight for the "hook and cook", with snapper we had caught, really enjoyed the blackened and grilled, along with fried fish. Sushi made with our catch was stunning and tasty. Went back on a Saturday, enjoyed fried oysters and shrimp. For the bourbon drinkers try the Buffalo Trace single barrel made specifically for them, took home 2 bottles. This is our first visit here. We were a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. We went around 1pm for lunch. There wasn't a wait and we were seated immediately. A nice lady brought some waters for us and let us know a server would be with us shortly. Our server came about 10 minutes later. Didn't introduce herself to us or even asked if we wanted drinks. She just asked if we were ready. Our food came out relatively fast. Everyone loved their food except for my dish. I ordered grilled shrimp that came with ginger rice. Please know if you order sushi it will be the smallest serving you have ever experienced. Left with a bill of $140 and then had to leave to go feed the family again. This post rating is only based upon the surcharge that is tacked on the bill if paying by card. The negative is just that.. the surcharge if using credit cards without me knowing prior to getting the bill. Negative: (They did not tell me the actual reason however knowing how money works, I presumed the reason.) While I do understand the reasoning because the credit cards charge a service fee for using their system, it is no appropriate to get it through the customer without telling them before hand. Nice lunch on the patio. Solid 4, Primarily because of how accommodating the restaurant was and how friendly the staff is. Not saying the food was bad, it was above average for Destin for sure. The prices are in line with what you find at the other seafood restaurants in the area, $20-30 a plate. Smoked Yellowfin Tuna Dip: It was good, basically tuna salad. However the homemade chips were the star of the dish. I think its fines, but for $16 would probably not order it again. Catch and Cook or Hook and Cook: This is the primary reason we stopped in. We had a fishing charter in the morning and caught many fish. Harbor Docks is very accustomed to cooking patrons catches. And the best part it was only $16 or so a person "at lunch", while most places charged over $20. I was also able to get them to throw in some fish taco makings for a small charge. I highly recommend doing that, the mango salsa was very good. Fried Fish: good, nicely cooked with a crunchy batter. Blackened Fish: Not bad, but I think the fried fish came out much better. Probably because of the filets we provided were not that big. Ginger Rice: Never had it before and it is 100% worth a try. On the good side it was cooked nicely and had a great flavor, on the down side it seemed to be uncle bens rice? or a rice I am not used to eating... it was not jasmine or long grain. Slaw: Ok, gave the tacos some crunch. It needed some spice. Mango Salsa: great flavor, not spicy. It made a great addition to the Ginger rice and tacos. Natural Cut Fries: Meh. mixed bag, some were cooked nice and crunchy other floppy. In the end I highly recommend stopping in if you are looking for somewhere to cook your catch. Opt for patio seating if the weather is nice, because it has a good view of the Docks. I would recommend and return. read more

Food was great! Seating arrangement was a little confusing. It's first come first serve seating, but they had available seating for the sushi bar. I told the hostess it was a table for 5 and we wanted sushi. She said she would seat me as soon as my party arrived (they parked the car in the complimentary garage across the street). When they walked in she pointed in the direct of the bar but I don't think she realized there were only 2 seats available. We walked back to the table and just asked for a regular table, first available. They told us it would be an hour and a half wait. We got a call saying our table was ready and got lucky and was seated outside on the deck :) got to watch the sun go down! The sushi was backed up an hour so we quickly placed those orders. When it finally did arrive, we did not think it was worth the wait. It was good sushi but not worth waiting one hour. The rest of the entrees were delicious! Hot and fresh. I got the fried chicken with pasta and cream sauce. I thought it was delicious! Definitely try to arrive early if you plan on going here. Or wait till 8PM when the wait isn't as long. read more

An overdue review based on a visit in late 2023. Seafood is pretty fresh and good - on par with other highly rated restaurants in Destin. They are obviously going for the fusion routes now, but still have some conventional items. Service is prompt and friendly. Balcony has nice view of the inlet where you will likely see pelicans and other birds, possibly dolphins. It is fairly expensive but nothing outrageous comparing to everywhere else these days. read more

I really wanted to like this place but found it a bit lacking especially with the service. We had tables sit down after us, got to order first and left way before we did. To start we got the tuna and chips which were very good and I appreciated that the tuna wasn't mayo based. We also ordered the panhandle roll from the sushi bar. The sushi does take at least 30 minutes to come out (and we said it can come out whenever it was ready). It was very good and fresh, just wish the roll didn't fall apart so easily when we ate it. We ordered the catch of the day which was the swordfish and the chef's platter with blackened red snapper. The swordfish was good. Loved the stuffed shrimp and crab cake, the shrimps had crispy bacon in the outside and the crab cake has the perfect crunch on the outside and seasoned perfectly on the inside. However, the veggies were very mushy, they were probably frozen. The red snapper was extremely salty and way overcooked. I had to leave it behind because it was completely inedible.
