My friend and I were in the mood for Thai and this was the second time getting delivery from them. Oh Again, I have to reemphasize the food and the flavor profile are great, but the portions are on the smaller side and my friend agreed about the smaller portions. We shared an order of the steamed dumplings and a papaya salad to start and then we got a Pad Pak with tofu, which is a stirfry with veggies and in a garlic sauce and a Pad Kaprow with chicken, which is a stirfry with peppers in a chili basil sauce. I had a business lunch at Happy Thai this week and I was really impressed by the food. I ordered the lunch pad Thai which came with either pot stickers or spring rolls. I ordered the pot stickers. The pot stickers were nicely fried and crispy and were accompanied by a nice sweet dipping sauce. The pad Thai was phenomenal. It was saucier than other versions. The papaya salad was tasty and filling with the right combination of sweet and spicy and even came with a couple of shrimp on top. The spring rolls were solid and not greasy/soggy which is always a risk with delivery. Use the sauce for some extra flavor. The beef drunken noodles were the best I've had in awhile, the beef was tender with lots of flavor and the noodles were soft without being too gummy. This was our first visit, but we really enjoyed our takeout. Vegetables were fresh, meats were tender, flavors were nicely balanced, and the vegetarian options are many. I like all the spice level options. If you can't handle spicy food, just about everything here can be pretty mild. If you like it spicy, check the "very hot" box. Located on Lee Highway very close to Mosaic. Happy Thai is one of my go to places for Thai food. They have a small parking lot right in front. I always appreciate the friendly service, variety, and delicious food. Drunken noodles, pad thai, pad see ew, basil fried rice are all in my recommendations for this place. Don't judge the book by its appearance! The buildings around here do indeed look sketchy and old, but when you come inside, it is cozy. There are not that many seats as many people do take outs here. The simple but happy store name attracted my attention. So I called ahead and ordered a takeout. We really enjoyed this hole-in-the-wall spot. I will admit I wasn't super into the "dining room" but this place seemed to be doing a LOT of takeout (we were the only sit downs, we were waiting out some traffic after picking up family at Dulles). Long story short - the server was so kind and helpful, and the food was DELICIOUS. I got a crispy duck meal, we had two different types of curries, and one order of drunken noodles. EVERYONE was happy with their meal. We also tried the mango sticky rice for dessert which was super refreshing. Our only complaint? This my kinda place! I stopped in the other day for lunch and I was very happy!! This restaurant has a nice comfortable atmosphere and clean tables with a really nice young lady who runs the place. She seems to have endless energy and smiles as she greets both dine-in and carry-out customers in addition to judging the phone orders and serving guests. The menu has a broad range of dishes that I think should satisfy most people searching for Thai food, and the weekday lunch specials are reasonably priced. I went with the lunch special basil fried rice with pork - served with a spring roll for a nice meal. I thought the dish was very good - tasty and with enough heat as it should have, but not overpowering heat. Since this was only my first time at this restaurant I've only been able to sample one dish, but I will definitely be back again and I look forward to enjoying more items on the menu! Very underrated spot just off 29 and close to mosaic. Not a lot of seating inside, but the food more than makes up for it. Service is quick and you can basically see them making every meal in the back. The pad thai is slightly sweet but generally has a flavor profile you'd expect from most standard thai places. I got seated and promptly ordered the Moo Ping (grilled pork skewers with sticky rice) and the Drunken Noodle with chicken. The Moo Ping came first and was served with sticky rice and a delightful tangy sauce which I believed was topped with roasted rice powder. The skewers were excellent and definitely a highlight of the meal. The Drunken Noodles included chicken, red peppers, fresh Thai basil, and a little salad. I ordered medium spicy, which was appropriately spicy and definitely woke me up. The little salad was a welcome addition to offset the heat from the dish. The interior of the restaurant has a few seatings, some decor, open kitchen and was very clean. The new owner and staff are very friendly and attentive. The crying tiger steak served with sticky rice, steamed vegetables and spicy dipping sauce. This dish I really enjoy. The marinated slice pulled steak was tender and delicious. The green curry with fill with umami and depth in flavors on your palate. The drunken noodles were tasty and piping hot. The pad kaprow was okay. It lack flavor and the meat was a little dry. The green curry and tom ka soup were so salty we had to add water (it was take out). Hardly any veggies or protein in any of the dishes. I wasn't going to review, but this is what Yelp is for. I love getting Thai food and never had a bad experience. So I decided to try a new spot and was shocked when I did not like this place. I ordered the pad see ew and papaya salad, and it was the worst I ever tried. The pad see ew was had so much oil that it looked like I was eating a soup. The papaya salad was dry and flavorless, there was no sauce whatsoever. I couldn't even finish it because my stomach was hurting from all the oil and grease so I discarded it. The interior of the restaurant was clean but it clearly wasn't modern and there was nothing wrong with that it's just that usually means the food will turn out good, instead I was just disappointed. The wait was not long and the girl who took my order was nice. I would recommend this place if you want to support a small business but if you're looking for good Thai food there are better options. read more

Have been looking for great Thai food in Tyson's area. Saw reviews for Happy Thai and got Sunday afternoon lunch takeout. Ordering on the phone was easy, same guy who took the order was the one who served. Food was very well packaged and hot. Got extra spicy Drunken Noodles, Penang Curry and Sesame Crispy Chicken. They're pretty protective over their fish sauce - only 2 tiny containers per order and no arguments accepted. Drunken Noodles was pretty good. Penang Curry was tasty, but a very small portion - barely enough for a lunch meal. Sesame Crispy Chicken was pretty tasty also, also a small portion. Rice portions were also tiny. I'd say 2 entrees would make a full meal. So bottom line is that the food was pretty good - not fantastic, prices were pretty good - but the portions were very small, so it's not likely that we will return. A little disappointed.... But we know that mom and pop restaurants are feeling the economic pain right now. As are the customers, also. read more
