I went to Happy Nails in Brighton for a basic French pedicure and was there from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM and it ended up being the worst nail experience I've ever had. The first tech who started on me seemed unsure when I asked for a simple French pedicure with white tips and even asked another worker if he could do it. He told me to pick a color (which is unusual for a French), so I chose a pale pink. He did the massage but did not do any trimming or shaping at all. Then an older man came over and immediately started painting. I tried explaining that nothing had been trimmed or shaped and that they had skipped that step. He kept painting until I finally said, "Please stop there's been no filing or trimming." He then stopped, removed the gel he had already applied, and walked away. After that, a woman stepped in. She filed and shaped some and then reapplied the gel. But even after that, they still hadn't shaped enough, because she ended up filing again AFTER the gel was on, which filed the paint right off the tips and actually exposed my toenails. At that point it felt like they were repeating steps over and over instead of doing them correctly the first time. On top of that the color she picked out as my base code when I explain like a cream or nude color is a tan brown color. It's awful who would choose this color manicure?? I wish I would've asked them to stop. On top of all that, the water was freezing. I told them multiple times that it was cold, and they didn't switch it or adjust anything. The towel they used was dirty, soaking wet, it was extremely uncomfortable. The color they used was a tan/brown base instead of the natural French look it took way too long to explain what I wanted. I even showed picture of the lady explained they do this all the time, but they had a very difficult time figuring out what colors to use for a French manicure. It was super confusing to me. To top it off-one of my toes was cut and bleeding. For what I received, this pedicure looked like something that should've cost maybe $30 but I was charged $70, and I still tipped because I try to be kind and respect that people work for a living. Gave this place two tries. First their prices are wrong online so they tell you they've gone up when you get there- which I get with inflation but knowing ahead of time would be nice. Hmmm. Well... I took my niece here a couple of days ago. I left unsatisfied. My nail tech didn't talk at all therefore she didn't ask me how I wanted my nails before she started my manicure. My nails were fairly long and rounded. She shortened them and maybe them dramatically square! When I asked her to fix them they became even shorter :(. When my nails were done I was not satisfied with the result. This place has changed a lot since I was here last. I only came to this location because the place I typically go was closed on Sunday's. I took my mom and daughters here for Mothers day pedicures. For being crazy busy that day, the staff handled it well. We had a 2pm appt, and got in right at 2. Other ppl without appts had to wait quite a while for an opening, so make an appt on holidays. The nail tech's were very friendly, spoke English whenever they were with a client, and made us all feel very welcome. They did a pedicure on my 7 yr old, and they were just as patient with her as any other customer. I will keep this place in mind next time we are in the area. read more

NO. JUST... NO. The last time that I went there, my nail tech was clearly in a heated argument with the fellow next to her, and she definitely took our her anger on my nails! Half of my cuticles were bleeding because she cut them too short and pulled the skin off too hard. I was just getting a clear coat that day, and after I had left, I was driving home and realized that she had put the clear coat over -- yes -- a dead piece of skin that she had tore off. I stopped in today for a quick pedicure since I had to go to Dick's Sporting Goods. Bad idea. The place looked clean and I felt comfortable when I walked in (not something that always happens at nail shops). I picked my color and headed back to the chair. A woman rushed in from the back , went the front and returned back to me seemingly still in a rush. She then asked if I wanted the regular or the deluxe. I asked what the difference was and basically the "deluxe" just means you get a scrub. So I stuck with the regular. The pedicure started off ok and I felt safe to read my book. OUCH what the hell was that....I began to think she was actually ripping off my toenails. Nope, just cutting them WAY down. Then she started with the clipping of the skin....I was starting to feel like a Bonsai tree. There was no blood but I've never had a painful pedicure until today. Some woman came up to the guy that did my pedi and asked if he had a moment to do her nails, so he just left me and had some other girl do my mani. How annoying that now I have to tip two people. Do NOT go here!!!!! I fled within minutes of arriving and saved myself the time, aggravation and wasted money that would have been the result had I stayed. I made an appointment for a manicure and pedicure on Monday, February 2. I arrived on time and had to wait several minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence. When I said that I had called and made an appointment, they acted surprised and had nothing else to say. I then waited there awkwardly for 15 minutes without anyone saying anything to me!!!!!!!!!!! I took a quick look at the nail color selection - horrible - and just kept standing and waiting. I noticed that throughout the salon customers were just sitting by themselves waiting while two aggressive, non-communicative staff members circulated around every so often. The standards seemed low and it was so awkwardly silent. Ignore the bad reviews! Two friends and I stopped in to get mani pedis and they were great. Nothing extra special or fancy, but you get what you pay for. Staff was courteous and polite, but mostly they chatted amongst themselves while we did the same. Was worried about cleanliness based on reviews, but all instruments came out of sterile bags and equipment was clean. The TLDR on this is: Don't do it! Save your money and your time and go elsewhere! You will regret it if you don't take my advice. Seriously. My sweet aunt took me here with her daughter as a belated birthday present for me. We were all excited and looking forward to getting our nails done *together* (I star these because that word is important). We got to the salon on time, after having made appointments for 6pm. My aunt was taken immediately to the nail station, and my cousin and I were directed to the pedicure station. Strike 1: They separated us. When you book appointments for people together, you want to stay together so at least you can chat with one another while you get your nails done. Strike 2: Possibly the worst thing they did was leave us sitting there in the pedi chairs without a single word to us for 20 minutes. I checked the clock by the time someone started on my cousin's pedi, and it was 6:20. Nobody started on mine until 6:25. Please tell me what the heck reservations are for if you are strictly on a first come/first serve basis. They were somewhat busy, and did not have enough employees to handle it. So our reservations were pointless, and sitting there ignored for 25 minutes makes a girl really, really annoyed. At least in Chicago at my favorite place, if they are running behind they turn on the massage chair and start your footbath anyway. These people didn't remotely acknowledge that my cousin and I existed until they were ready to do our nails. We were sitting there fiddling with the massage chair, and they saw us doing that and STILL didn't come over to help us. Ugh. Strike 3: I wasn't given a choice about whether I wanted 'deluxe' or 'regular.' So apparently, we paid $10 more for a 10 second massage with lotion and some bath salt (as noted by another reviewer). Maybe it would've been worth the extra if the massage had lasted longer, but it was pointless. My pedicure tech rushed through it and I don't think she even put on a top coat (wasn't as shiny as it should've been if there was one). I got home and realized that not only did I not have a top coat, but my big toes had both smudged (which wouldn't have happened with the top coat). Strike 4: After much prodding from the nail tech when I was headed for my mani, I opted for the shellac. I was promised that they had a shellac color that matched my pedi color (China Glaze Ruby Pumps). I'm sorry, but no. This does not match. It is a sparkly red like Ruby Pumps, but my nails are 3 shades lighter than my toes. I HATE that. I had wanted to change my toe color to a purple upon seeing my aunt's pretty shellac color, but I think the tech didn't want to get off her butt and select me a shade that matched that purple (or want me to do it myself, though I would've been happy to). She insisted that it was okay because she had the same color, and it's not the same. Close, sure, but not the same. Strike 4: Mani time. One tech did the nail clean up and prep, and someone else did all the work. Everything was so rushed. My poor, poor cuticles were mangled and look horrible 5 days later. Worse, the guy rushed so much through the whole thing that there's a visible difference of where he only did one coat and then started the second. I can totally see through to my nail. It needed more coats. He also started so far away from my nail bed that it actually looked like I'd had them for a week as soon as he finished. Now, I sort of understand that because the stuff is nasty and hard to get off if you mess up. But I am not paying you (okay, to be technical, my aunt is not paying you) to rush the job so much that it looks grown out already. And I am definitely not paying you to barely spend any time doing your dang job. The whole thing cost my aunt about $146. That was an extra $20 just for some crappy lotion and bath salt. The whole thing not worth it. At all. My nails don't look very nice, my cuticles are ruined (and will take me weeks, if not a month, to repair), and it was not remotely relaxing or enjoyable. She wasn't paying attention, filing my nails while watching ppl coming in the door, so she like "air filing" back and forth not making contact with my actually nails! That night the polish came off 2 of my toes and my big toe was so uneven shame on me for not noticing as I left. I love their selection of colors and go out of my way to come here. They are very friendly and are always willing to help you. Prices are a big reason why I'm coming here. She missed the whole side of my nail with paint. I asked her to paint it and she got pretty upset then started talking even louder to her co-worker, obviously about me I'm sure but who knows because they are speaking a different language the entire time! So incredibly rude! Zero customer service! Had an extra minute on my way home to get a pedi so stopped in here as I am not familiar with the area. I may be a pedi snob but I will not return here. Pedicure chairs are quite dated. They do not use liners in their bowls. I felt this was disgusting while watching the person next to me with thick fungal nails get her pedicure done. The bowl was not thoroughly cleaned prior to the woman coming in after me. Nail tech was rude when I didn't agree to upgrades or adding a manicure to my pedicure. Utensils were packaged but did not have autoclave tag that changes color to confirm sterility. Opi Nail color shades are not true to manufacture color. I'm assuming colors are mixed to make full bottles. Paint job was mediocre at best and is not extending to the tip of the nail which will result in early chipping. read more

My nails would start falling off after a week when I went for my fill in 2 weeks after I got them originally done I had 2 that had fell off they charged me to put them back on I argued with them about me having to pay because of their mess up they didn't care I told them I wouldn't be back and he said ok still didn't care then the idiot burned my finger with some liquid probably in spite. I'm done. I have been coming here for a long time using the same husband and wife team. I typically have my nails and toes done. about 3 months ago I stopped having my toes done there because the last pedicures lasted 15 minutes and 12 minutes....RIDICULOUS. I kept going to get my nails done although it has turned in to a quick in and out operation. But this week I was cut by a drill because the tech was in such a hurry to get me in and out. They also do not sanitize. They spray the pedicure bowls down with cold tap water. I'm done and I would recommend you find another nail salon. I found M Nails. read more
