Awful! Dirty and a solid communication issue. Made an appointment for a basic pedicure, acrylic soak off and full set of clear acrylic. At check in, employee was confused when I repeated what services I wanted. Kept telling me to pick a color. I said "No thank you. Clear regular polish on my toes and fingers." After too many times being told to "pick a color", I did and pointed to my toes and said "toes only". After I was seated for pedicure I asked if she was going to start soaking off the acrylic. More confusion. I kept asking because I didn't want to be there all night. She finally spoke to another employee who was also confused but ended up bringing one double dish of acetone. Pantomimed for me twist in my seat to soak both hands. Shook my head no, and reluctantly brought another dish. The pedicure was 3 out of 10. Nails uneven and polish on my skin. Nails. Old acrylic not completely removed. He was going to just put the new on top. I asked and pointed to the old, discolored and lumpy acrylic. He then used the electric tool to grind the acrylic AND my nails. He applied the new acrylic, filed and wanted to put gel as the top coat. Kept saying, no thanks, just regular clear polish. I finally found an amazing nail place in the Brighton area!!! When I tell you I have tried multiple nail spas everywhere from Howell to Novi... it's insane. John did my nails and he was so accommodating to my nail art requests. It was very calm and quiet in there (which is nice for people with social anxiety.) These were $60. I am so particular about the shape and length of my nails. These are smooth, even, and all the same length. I will 10000% be back. Alux is hardly a spa but a typical Asian Nail Salon. I was disappointed in the atmosphere and services. I had a pedicure and manicure with a young Asian man/boy who did not understand English. His hands were fragile, but he did a great massage on my feet and calves. The pedicure massage chair was more irritating than relaxing; this was on one setting the whole time. Sterizied pedicure tools were used. My cuticles & dead skin were cut away even when I told him I was diabetic. The manicure was done with unsterilized tools. The chair that I sat in was filthy. In the evening, my feet were burning and hurting after the manicure. I have no idea what products he used for my pedicure or if it was from soaking hot water. read more

This was the most UNRELAXING experience I have ever had. First of all the place is like a tomb. Complete silence no energy. I had a 2 PM appointment for a dip and I was led to the back corner to a dirty station where they made me soak my nails and fingers in pure acetone and scrub off the dip myself ( isn't that what I'm paying them for) ? . The fumes made me nauseous. About 3 years ago a friend convinced me I should start treating myself to regular manicures - something I had NEVER done as a young woman and as my kids were growing up. I got lucky and the first place I ever went to did a great job and I learned the difference between shellac and dipping powders. I preferred the dip manicure by far for my soft nails. But then the owners sold the place and I found out quickly that not all nail techs are created equal! I felt abused!! So I moved on to another salon and it was even worse if that was possible. Not only was this one rough, but my nails also looked TERRIBLE! Next stop was Alux with Twee - the owner. Ahhhhh!! I found my new home. She took the time to ask what I wanted and reassured me that she would be gentle and take her time. And she did. Best dip manicure ever!! My sister and I had an 11:00 appointment (arrived at 10:55) and there were 2 other ladies in front of us when we got there. The other ladies were called back and so we waited. 2 other girls then came in who had 11:00 appointments (showed up at 11:15) and at 11:35 they were taken back before us even though we had the same appointment time and we showed up early for ours. I will never go here again. My sister and I walked out because after waiting for 35 minutes and then others cutting in line was just rude by the staff. I have had my nails done here a half dozen times. They speak every time about how clean their salon is. Last time I was in I was talked into doing dipped nails. She told me they would last 3 weeks. Well they did and when the polish came off I was left with 4 nails with infection! I have had my nails done for 8 years consistently and have never had such a problem. First of all they do beautiful acryllics. My problem is I came in for a repair on one of my nails. I called ahead to make sure the time I was coming was okay. I came in waited 10 minutes. Then I get over to the station and this guy is doing my nails. Every two minutes he walked away for like a few minutes and would come back repeatedly. He finishes shaping out my nails 20 minutes later and he then says to me can you come back tomorrow to get the design done. How fucking rude is that. Their customer service is disgusting and horrible. I will not be coming back ever again. I do not appreciate a 40 minute repair for one goddamn nail and then asking me to come back. I find that ridiculous and just outright rude. Thankfully one lady said she would finish them. I am really appualed by that mans customer service. I try to give salons the benefit of one or two bad appointments, but yesterday with my granddaughter was the third and final bad experience. It was a gift for prom because she wanted acrylics. The technician was switched for her manicure, he acted like he didn't understand English and got upset when she tried to explain that he cut the first one to short. He won't take it off and her nails looked thick, uneven and filed to a sharp point; a child could have done better. She should have called me up and we would have left. However, when I went to pay for the service I noticed it was the same tech I was given a few weeks earlier when my appoint with Kim was double booked. He left my feet sitting in cold water while he went in back to eat lunch. I actually had to ask if he went home. I always tip over 20% and when paying for a supposedly relaxing experience no one should be treated with rudeness an incompetence; I will never go back. read more

When I went in to complain and asked them to remove the clear coat they made me feel like it was my fault even though it was their mistake. Did not offer to redo or apologize for the mistake.
