I have had several appointments now so I feel confident to write a review. I came here a few times before the pandemic, yet I was never completely happy. Having a few gift cards still to use I decided to try again. With so many great reviews I figured I would give it another chance. I am pleased that I did. The salon is very clean. It has a warm inviting feeling too it. Staff I've had contact with are friendly. I see Jay. On my first visit he listened carefully to what I wanted, what I didn't want, as well as my concerns. He gave me his opinions and promised to do his very best. Which he always does. He takes great pride in the work he does and it shows. I am pleased with the color we have achieved. It took a couple of appointments, as he had said it would. It's not exactly the color I ultimately hoped for on my first visit. Which I now know was an unrealistic expectation for my hair. I've learned that not everyone's hair can do exactly what they see in a picture. From where my hair started with boxed dying, being very dark, to now, is completely different and much improved. I trust his knowledge and I know he wouldn't do anything to compromise the health of my hair. At the end of the day I would rather have a color I like and healthy hair at the same time. read more

This place is my favorite salon- hands down! I see stylist, Erin. She's a hair ninja. Meticulous, listens to your needs and executes, and gives awesome advice on keeping hair healthy. The salon's safety measures for Covid are top notch! Not once did I feel unsafe (and I'm a nervous Nellie right now with being around others.) Only downside- this salon's reputation is so great as it should be that it's hard to book an appointment for sooner dates. This hair salon is amazing! I was going out of town and need my hair done at the last minute. I was on a mission to find a place. I seen Tribute and stopped the women working there are 100% about great service. They offered a tour of the salon which me and my mother gladly took because the salon is so beautiful. The stylist they set me up with Amy did A great job on my color and cut. The young lady that worked with her that washed my hair was wonderful. I loved the nice warm lavender towels and the hand and arm rub was amazing I've already scheduled my next appointment and made one for my daughter too! This is a 5 star review because of Danielle. I had previously gone to Ashley for three visits. Each which got worse than the last (very confusing as to why...?), and that third visit my hair truly looked ridiculous. On top of that, Ashley had become dismissive, and rude on the second and third (worst) visits. My FIRST visit with Ashley she put up a great front of wanting to listen, and get things just right, etc. but that didn't last. I am a single mother and due to my daughter getting sick I had to reschedule that second and third appointment. Perhaps this bothered Ashley? I don't know, but she was just so rude, and dismissive on that last appointment, and left my hair color looking truly ridiculous. I usually get a full blonde highlight and I have dark brown naturally. I was somehow spontaneously booked for only a partial highlight (2nd and 3rd visits). And, when I asked Ashley to cover one little streak of gray, she colored my entire hairline dark brown - no highlights. It was absurd looking. I wasn't even comfortable addressing it because of how rude and hurried she had been with me. I was visibly upset at the counter (when I was paying $165 for this degrading experience and bad hair), as I was leaving, and the receptionist offered to have the owner call me. I didn't get that call. But I did call them a few days later, and serendipitously got Danielle on the phone. Immediately, and at EVERY POINT after, she was kind, genuinely compassionate, and moved mountains to ensure that I 1) got back in ASAP to correct it 2) ended up with hair I truly love 3) felt taken care of, listened to, and respected. AND, on top of this all, she had my original $165 refunded (and no charge for the correction). I cannot tell you what a salve this was. To feel seem, treated with such genuine kindness by this stranger who had nothing to do with the hair mess I was put in. Danielle truly cares about people. And she's a SKILLED colorist, who will LISTEN to you, TAKE HER TIME, and deliver the look that you are asking for. I have been lightening my dark hair for 23 years. I know a gem when I find one - Danielle is gifted in many ways. Thank you for being you, Danielle! And for brining not only sunshine to my day, but hair that I feel great in I can not recommend her enough. read more

No one takes the time to really thin and style my hair and she went above and beyond! I am 40 weeks pregnant and she gave me a later appointment so I could go to my doctors appointment first! First and foremost, Ashley (hairstylist) and Madison (makeup artist) are AMAZING! They both made me look absolutely incredible for my wedding day I came here with my bridesmaids the day of my wedding and the managers of the salon (Jolene and Marisa) were absolutely horrible and clearly do not know the definition of customer service and are so unorganized. For months before my wedding, I've confirmed appointments for 10 people numerous times but they kept getting them wrong. Then we called the day before asking if we could bring food and some mimosas (obvi it's my wedding day so I need to eat and relax with some champagne!) and they told us we could bring both as long as it's not a huge food spread and of course we can bring in champagne. However, when we arrived they told us that's not allowed and the container of FRUIT we had sitting out was not allowed. Seriously...fruit... So the day of my wedding, I was starving and could not even enjoy the mimosas I brought due to the horrible mismanagement of this salon. The women here who are hair stylists and makeup artists are absolutely wonderful and should be working under better management! I would never recommend this place for ANY bride. Who ruins the morning of a stressful, busy day for a woman who is about to get married?? Honestly they should think about this and be consistent what they are telling their customers. read more

I wouldn't say the haircut Jen gave me was the worst in my entire life, but it definitely was in the top 3 of bad haircuts. She didn't ask what I was thinking in terms of haircuts so I volunteered this information at the onset. I described my two main issues and described what I would like, all of which were ignored! The cut was terrible, with uneven, unblended lengths sticking out. I went home and let a friend fix these. I seriously think I would have had a better haircut and "style" at SuperCuts and saved myself a lot of trouble and expense. The color was applied hurriedly, and I watched as she dabbed on color to one side of the part-line but not the other. There are definitely areas she missed completely. The color itself is off, not a natural shade, and she left a thick dark band of brown around the hairline on my forehead and temples. This is NOT the kind of service you'd expect from a quality hair salon. Although I was her first client upon the salon's opening and arrived on time, she kept me waiting 15 minutes! Then after my shampoo, I had to wait again for 5-10 minutes at the processing table with a towel on my wet head. This girl needs to learn some communication and time-management skills, and should attend continuing education courses to keep her skills up to date. The salon is pretty and the front desk staff are pleasant, but it's the hair stylist that matters the most. I am now stuck with a terrible haircut that must grow out before I can get another. I will never return. read more

I made an appointment for a trim and color at Tribute for two Sundays ago. Upon sitting down in the salon chair, the stylist and I decided my color didn't need to be touched up. I did ask her to tone out some of the brassiness in it (I had a balayage at the time and it was turning more golden than I like). The stylist applied a gloss on my hair that was bright pink, and clearly stated "don't worry, it won't dye your hair pink!".....once she rinsed it out, my hair was in fact pink. The gloss had dyed the caramel part of my balayage pink. Before I was able to see that it was pink, the stylist then toned it and turned parts of it literally silver. When I sat back down in the chair, I realized my balayage wasn't blonde but didn't realize the extent of the color until she blow dried my hair. Instead of owning up to her mistake, the stylist assured me that it was because of the lighting in her chair, and took me to the front of the salon for a better look.....it was most definitely still pink, even in the "better" lighting in the front of the salon. The stylist didn't exactly know why the gloss dyed my hair pink, and she also didn't know how to get it out of my hair. After scrubbing it in the shampoo bowl, she then told me to go home and wash it twice, and if the pink was still in my hair after washing it I could come back to her and she would "try" to fix it. Now, onto the cut: I had specifically told the stylist I just wanted a trim, and told her I did not want a blunt haircut. She cut my hair into an "I want to speak to a manager" haircut. It was very blunt, very uneven, and very very very short. I was then charged for a toner and gloss, even though my hair looked absolutely horrendous. I personally did not think I should've been charged at all, and when I brought that up to the manager of Tribute, she said she wasn't able to offer me a refund. I had engagement photos scheduled for last Monday, which I had to end up rescheduling because of my horrible hair, and I then ended up having to take time out of my weeknight to go back to Tribute to have someone else correct the hot mess of color that was on my head. The stylist who fixed my hair did an amazing job, was kind, and didn't charge me, but that doesn't make up for the hours wasted and money spent on the horrible color and cut that caused me to take extra time out of my week in the first place. The original stylist promised to be there for the whole process to answer any questions but up and left 10 minutes in to a two hour long appointment. I absolutely do not recommend Tribute. The manager is rude and did not seem to care that my hair was royally fucked up. If you're going to pay these prices, you should at least be able to trust that you won't come home in literal tears about the state of your hair. read more

I just moved to this area from Chicago. I went to two other salons prior to trying Tribute. (The other two were horrible). From the moment I walked into the salon to when I left, my experience was wonderful!! I was greeted right away and was given a "warm" smock to put on which was so awesome considering it was cold and snowing outside. Danielle is the wonderful woman who took care of me. She greeted me warmly and took my back to her chair on time. We talked first so she could get an idea of my needs and my expectations. I only needed color that day. But that is NOT all I received... I received the VERY BEST SHAMPOO EVER!!! She not only massaged my head and neck, she also massaged my hands while my hair was processing. My entire shampoo lasted about 20 minutes. AMAZING!!! Then we went back to the chair where she styled it. She answered all my questions about styling tips, products to use, and eyebrow care. She went one step further by connecting me with one of her co-workers to give me a free tutorial about creating eyebrows. I normally dread getting my hair done but not this time. I have been a loyal Tribute goer since opening. I followed my girl Ashley from Essential Elegance in Howell. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for close to 10 years. I have never had a better cut or color from anyone ever. I think she has magic powers because I sit down for the consult and never really know what I want and she turns it into everything I never knew I always wanted. She is not only kind and genuine she takes her career very seriously and always puts out great results. I would not keep going back to her, waiting sometimes 3 months to get into her if the results weren't there. I highly recommend this salon and especially Ashley. read more

The atmosphere is lovely like others have mentioned. As well as the customer service. I came in for a hydrofacial. I've gotten peels and microdermabrasion by themselves elsewhere in the past and loved the results. So I was excited to try the hydrofacial which essentially combines a peel and microdermabrasion with additional hydration. The lady who performed the service seemed knowledgeable about how to explain what she was doing and why- however I had a strange sense it wasn't being performed correctly. For a $200 service the results did not meet my expectations. I've gotten better results from the peel and microdermabrasion I've had by themselves, than I did with this service. I feel the person who performed the service was novice and didn't perform the service often- which would explain the poor results I had from the service. I'll have to look elsewhere for my facial needs. read more

The receptionist was a sweet-faced redhead with bouncy curls who booked my appointment over the phone after I called and bent her ear on 3 separate occasions because I, too have curly hair and have had some questionable cuts. She assured me that Danielle whom she booked me with would make me look like a movie star. She was right. The salon was warm, and welcoming. State of the art Infrared hanging dryers, grey barn wood tables and high-end 7ft mirrors and dark grey paint and fixtures and lighting. Bumble and bumble products. Great find!! This salon was a pleasant surprise. Booked an appt and got a text confirmation. Love the ease of text message as a reminder. Day of, my hairstylist called in, but they rebooked me with Amy. From the time I walked in, the staff was super friendly. The blonde receptionist was awesome and had a glass of wine in my hand in no time! Gotta love that!! My hairstylist, Amy, did an awesome job on my hair!! Showed her a pic, she suggested a trim on my hair too and the end result was way better than I was hoping for :). Also, she told me they Amonia-free hair dye! So disappointed. After being a faithful client of a wonderful certain stylist here for a couple yrs now (highlights and cuts) and then bringing my daughter here as well, we've had 2 unsatisfactory appointments at $200 a piece that will prevent us from being clients any longer. During our last 2 trips our highlights just were not blonde enough. I didn't do anything about mine. But when my daughter went in and her hair clearly wasn't as blonde as her previous appointment (photos to compare), I called and asked if we could come back in. We were told "no" that we just had to wash out the toner. This is a nice salon. So upset that my stylist turned on us like this. She is also getting very difficult to get into, and when I used a different stylist instead (they are supportive of this) my result was not worth the money. read more

I love this salon ! The owner Deni, has been in salon management for years, until she finally opened Tribute. Her expertise, shows throughput every aspect of tribute. I love Michelle my hair stylist. She's the best colorist I've ever seen and gives a great haircut too. Michelle is sweet, prompt, polite and just all around top notch. She's been doing my hair a long time and when Tribute opened, I followed her. I won't let anyone else touch my hair and I highly recommend her. I'm only giving this 1 stars because the salon is gorgeous. HOWEVER... When I first came to this place I ask specifically for someone who knew how to cut with a razor. The lady told me to go to a woman named Danielle..... worst mistake of my life!!!!! She made me sit processing my hair for 45 min! She didn't even check on me once. When she finally took me to cut my hair, I had this big blob of blonde in my hair and a brass color in the back. When she finally continued to cut my hair she didn't even know what she was doing. I asked for the owner immediately. She came in and tried fixing it. I'm still not happy with my hair color or haircut. My hair is frizzy, damaged, and horribly thin. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON! This hair salon is filled with new hair stylist and is over priced. I almost felt with the amount of people working on me that I was their little guinea pig. read more

This is a nice salon and the stylists are nice, but my experience here was not that great. I showed my stylist a picture and told her I wanted more layers because my hair is thick and I wanted volume. She told me that I have enough layers. She washed my hair, trimmed it and blew it dry- all which took 1/2 hr. I was charged $50 because my hair was thick...yet all she did was trim, not even a detailed haircut whatsoever. Then I felt rushed out of the seat because she had another client. Overall, I think my experience wasn't so great because they scheduled me with only time for 1/2 hr. Also, my sister had an appointment at the same time and got there before me and left after. Thats how short my time was there. Again, not that the people are not nice, just not great scheduling or understanding what the client wants. read more

Jonelle, my nail tech was prompt, professional and pleasant through out my appointment. She explained her product, offered color suggestions based on my input and genuinely engaged in each aspect of my appointment.
