I've been really enjoying this huge wave of boba places opening up in Newark recently, and I was very happy to find that a Happy Lemon opened up here. So of course, we went on over. We went to the Union City location a few weeks prior, so we expected it to be a bit similar. Maybe it was the time of day, but this location was popping. The vibe was really great, and it felt a lot more cool. There's a decent possibility that the UC location is still getting traction or we caught them at an off time, but anyway, the Newark location was really great. We arrived to the front of the line, and the man taking our orders was very nice. I messed up a little and waited until after my order to ask if there was a reward thing. Even though it was inconvenient for me to do(since there was a large line forming behind me), he was very helpful and patient with me. I did not feel rushed by him despite him having to spend extra time re-opening the transaction to set up a rewards card. Great spot to hang out and grab some milk tea. My favorite is the green tea with Salted cheese. It tastes great when you sip it from the cap (don't use a straw). With each sip I like to enjoy a bit of the tea and a taste of cheese Yummm! What else can I ask for. I like it less sweet so I mostly get 25% or 50% sugar level. I've been to the Warm Springs and Cupertino locations before, but to have one so much closer is really nice. Ordered the black milk tea with boba hot and it was delish. Perfect boba texture swimming in delicious milk tea well balanced and drinkable immediately as a hot beverage. Happy Lemon is pretty good. My favorite is their Mango Yakult Snoothie w/double Boba & sometimes I add pudding. I absolutely LOVE boba (tapioca) so its extremely important that the boba is cooked all the way through & is soft & edible, however the last few times we have come to Happy Lemon their boba was hard & inedible. Not only was it disappointing & frustrating as one of the main factors in a boba drink is the boba, what makes it even worse when they don't have edible boba is that you have to pay extra as the boba is not included so it's a double negative. Hoping that they take the time to make sure that their boba is nice & ready before serving. read more
