Wednesday special buy one, get one 50% off
Irene C.

Came on a Wednesday and had no idea it was buy one get one 50% off any drink! The guy there was super nice and explained to me the difference about the lemon drinks. He suggested I have 0 sugar first because of the added honey and if I needed more sugar, he would add it for me. He made me the perfect freshly squeezed , honey lemon green tea. No sugar was perfect! Very nice guy with the tattoo sleeve. Will definitely be back!

Wide variety of teas and smoothies with boba! The service was very quick and high quality taste and open late. Bright and clean ambiance with super nice employees. Great local spot!

I was sooooo happy that they have Happy Lemon in Newark! I often go to the one in Tustin as I'm a huge fan of their tea drinks and bubble waffles! This place didn't disappoint. Not too busy (maybe due to the location?), good customer service, fast turnaround, and clean. If you come on Wednesday, you can order one and get second one 50% off. There's a tv panel that shows the orders and status. Bubble waffles: 5/5 hot and fresh when it's done, and, love the crunchiness surrounding the outer layer. Delish! Honey Green Tea: 5/5 First time trying this tea. I asked for less sugar honey. Fresh, light, and refreshing.

Green Tea Salted Cheese

This review is for one of the salted cheese drinks I got. I got the Green Tea since it's my favorite type of tea and always wanted to try salted cheese. Apparently, I have to wait until my drink is almost finished and then I taste the one I've been waiting for. Kinda disappointed that mixing the liquid and the cheese doesn't work (could be how I do it). That could be me though. However, the green tea is good and the salted cheese is very flavorful. Perhaps, this type of drink is not for me, but overall, Happy Lemon is still one of the best boba shops.

Got the strawberry shortcake smoothie, my new fav! My bf got the ube taro puff but it tasted water down. It tasted off and the color is off too. Doesn't match the picture on the screen. BOGO on Wednesdays. Parking was easy because it was already late but this plaza has lots of amazing Asian food and businesses.

Even though there are a ton of tea shops around, I still repeat going to Happy Lemon as a regular. They are from the past generation of tea shops like T4, ShareTea and Gong Cha, which are all now kinda defunct, because taste and perception changes so fast in this boba crazed world. But my taste aren't so ready to always hop on the next trend. If I find something classic/solid then I will stick with it, Imma a ride and die type of compadre. Now there is really only one thing here that pulls me. Sure their lemon drinks are alright, great on a hot day. Their regular milk teas are suffice that I'd even rather get those from other places. But their milk tea with that salted cream on top ALWAYS hits for me. Even whether it is green or black tea, they are both equally good. And I've tried this drink elsewhere and Happy Lemon has the best and most consistent version. And they always put it in a cup with a lid that isn't sealed completely so you can take sips from the top, which is the best way to drink this drink. To actualy put that cream into your mouth and have the tea filter through each sip. And more places seem to seal your drink so you have to drink with a straw, which is not the deal for this. Sure you can mix everything which is fine, but not ideal for me. Also just recently tried their Waffle thing ($6ish), a Puffle which is what I like to call it, is pretty legit. It is always warm and when eaten within that first 10 minutes is the best as the edges are slightly crisp while the rest is nice and tender. And I like the regular one better than the matcha version as I liked the simple vanilla notes and the matcha didn't really come through for me. So yeah, 2 things that pull me here now. And this store is my go-to, convenient for me and the workers are always nice and mellow. They always tell me how long my wait is going to be. Not that I really care but seems like a nice gesture. I acknowledge my good fits, FIVER.

Love coming here for a quick refreshing drink! My favorite is the mango matcha smoothie and I've converted many family members to this smoothie as well I feel bad ordering multiples of this sometimes but the service is always fast and I'm out within a few minutes. It's a small location, but there's a few tables to sit and chat!

Love this place! Its very clean. Definitely would recommend the drinks with the cheese foam bc they are delicious! Their egg puff waffles are soooo good too!! Eating it warm hits hard. Straight bussin! There's seating inside so its a perfect place to study as well! Service was fast and friendly as well!

Are any locations open during shelter in place?

This one (Newark) was open as of last week. I'd imagine they still are.

Will Happy Lemon be open on Labor Day?

They are open all year round, except for main holidays . Holiday hours will differ from each store. Call for hours to make sure

How come there is no Large option for certain drinks like the Mango Matcha? I'd really like a large option for my favorite drink.

Hi there! We really wish there is a large option for certain drinks but unfortunately happy lemon is a franchise and they are really strict on how they want to sell their product.

Do you have dairy free milk tea?

They offer a soy milk replacement I believe.

Does happy lemon do catering/ parties?

Yes! They do cater! Just stop by and ask and they'll be more than happy to help you with your catering needs.

Does this location offer mango yakult? The Union City location did not have it on their menu!

Yes they sure do!

Is the shop supposed to charge tax or not? I have been here for 6+ times since it was opened, and I was charged tax for a few times but not the other. Can the owner anwser the question?

The workers (I didn't catch their names but it was a young woman and man) were so incredibly sweet with customizations and explaining different drinks since they have an extensive menu. Their drinks run a bit sweet even though I usually get 100% sweet at all the other boba shops so if you're similar, I recommend at least reducing to 80%. They're currently running a BOGO 50% M-W for the first 50 customers. I'm not sure how long it'll last, but it's definitely a great deal and I'll try to visit as often as I can. There are a few more boba shops opening on this strip, but Tea Top is a great location that you should try if you haven't.

Final Thoughts: 2.00/5.00…read more After dinner, my friend and I went to get boba at the shop a few doors down. Perhaps we should have chosen somewhere else. My friend said that his coworkers will go here sometimes and they seem to like it. To each their own. I have personally had better, but I'll try anything once. Overall, will be a 2 star for me today. Drinks: Matcha Latte: 1.5/5 Very interesting how this place has fairly high marks and reviews. Maybe because their other drinks are better? I chose this drink today because I've very much gotten into matcha. This drink was not for me though. First look gave me that sense too. Lovely layering, but it was when it was mixed did I really see it. My one note is the amount of milk that is added to this drink. When it comes to matcha drinks, I find that less is more with the base. This drink just had so much milk and ice at the bottom and it completely dilutes the matcha. Had this matcha been in a little less milk, it may have been better. This also dulls out the color of it and makes the drink itself unappealing when it's mixed. This drink is super grainy at the bottom and I tried to mix it more, but that really didn't help. Sweetness was alright. Again, flavor of it was just the milk, so I can't say too much of the matcha since it drowned out. Grapefruit Green Tea with Crushed Ice: 3.0/5 This was my friend's drink and I tried it for my review purposes. This was the better option of the two. The grapefruit and tea drink itself was very refreshing. Sweetness was good. Something about the crushed ice made it better. I honestly don't think this drink would be the same with the regular cubed large ice. The crushed ice was also mixed in with the grapefruit pulp at the top too. I like that addition of the grapefruit because of it's natural flavor and that texture from it. Grapefruit can be slightly bitter, but I actually like it that subtle bitterness with the sweetness and tartness in it. The green tea is a good option to have with think drink because it's very light and doesn't overpower the remainder of the drink. Sweetness was good for me. Definitely more of a passing drink than the drink option that I chose today. Menu: Good enough variety Again, looks to be your standard boba shop menu. There are a fair amount of items on their menu for you to choose from though. Perhaps their fruit teas would have been the better option for me here. I thought my friend's drink was really refreshing and appropriate for the weather at the time. --------- Quality: So-so The matcha really doesn't look like my ceremonial grade matcha powder. Slightly oxidized and dulled out green color. This might be because it looked completely diluted, but maybe not. What gets me was how grainy it was too. Now, looking at my friend's drink, I liked the grapefruit pulp and the use of the natural fruit inside the drink. So, will depend on what you get and your preferences. Price: Average Truly your average Bay Area prices for these drinks and what they are. The price will range from $5 to $8, so really within that standard boba drink price here. Service: Friendly They greeted us when we walked into the shop and they were also really quick to make the drink. I noticed the person making the drink come to the front too to see what we would order and he started making it right after we paid for the drinks. Loving the quick service. There wasn't many groups ahead of us, so he was able to do this. I'm sure they try their best to keep up and make it quickly to order though, which I appreciate. Ambiance: Standard boba shop The interior is giving your very standard boba shop and smell. There are a few tables on the side and the counter on the other side. I think this would be a nice studying stop or charting spot because it seems very peaceful. Location/Parking: Long Plaza; Optimal Parking Spaces This area is on Cedar Blvd. The plaza itself is quite long and made up of sections of buildings. All of it seems to be connected though, so there are parking spaces. Doesn't seem like it was super super saturated of an area during the time, so my friend and I were able to park close by. I really don't see parking being too much of an issue though.

The cake itself is delicious, but what makes it interesting is the type of fruit they use -- not Medjool or the usual Middle Eastern dates, but jujube (often called Chinese dates). That choice gives the cake a gentle sweetness with a subtle smoky note that sets it apart. Feb 21: For our first visit, we ordered quite a spread: the chocolate mochi bun, honey osmanthus cake, jujube cake, a loaf of chocolate bread (because there's no such thing as too much chocolate), and the pork floss with salted egg bread. The concept behind the pastries was appealing, which explains why we bought so much on our first trip. That said, the execution felt a little uneven. The osmanthus notes in the honey osmanthus cake didn't quite come through, the chocolate bun lacked depth of flavor, and the pork floss with salted egg bread turned slightly burnt even though we followed the heating instructions. Still, we were glad to have discovered the bakery. It's definitely worth a try.

AFTER DINNER EVENING DESSERT…read more I been here several times. If I have a dessert craving most of the time I go to Feng Cha Teahouse after having dinner at home. My first time I went here the first drink I ordered was a hot ginger milk tea, which has a spicy yet soothing texture. Most of the drinks I've ordered from Feng Cha Teahouse are dirty boba drinks. The consistency of these boba drinks isn't too watery. Also in terms of the flavor the dirty boba drinks isn't too sweet that you can get a sugar rush. There are several boba drink places that serve food. What makes Feng Cha Teahouse different from other places that serve food is the milk foam cakes. I could be wrong, but I don't see milk foam cakes sold at other boba places. The milk foam cake served at Feng Cha Teahouse is light and airy. The flavors of the milk foam cake provide a texture similar to cheese souffle. My favorite milk foam cake at Feng Cha Teahouse is the sea salt pearl. It's like dirty boba on a foam cake. I don't come to Feng Cha Teahouse every time after dessert however if I have a craving after dinner I'd come here for the dirty boba and milk foam cake.
