I came here the day after Christmas (a Friday) and it was open. I ordered a Thai tea ($5.95) and it tasted good. It is similar to the Thai teas that you would get at any restaurant. Since I got there around 3pm, I expected there to be almost no more donuts, but was pleasantly surprised to see the case full of donuts. I'll definitely come back for a cronut one day.
Under new management & new name. The old name was Kingberry Donuts. The shop is totally remodeled and updated, but still a mom & pop family business. I only got a blueberry cake donut which was cakey but flavorful and moist. The icing was not too sweet. Come support this new local business just 3 months old.
if you want a lowkey breakfast sandwich come here! price isn't too bad and it's nice and clean. service is great. def coming back
Haven't been here since 2019 no longer Kingsberry Donuts now under a new management and quite a change from the previous ownership. Came by on a Monday morning greeted very warmly by the staff. It was quite cold since I chose French vanilla coffee large size $4.30 extremely reasonable and two twist donuts. The only drawback are their hours though they're open seven days a week so that's a real plus not to mention for those early birds for a quick cup of coffee and bagels. Ample parking depending time of day located at a busy intersection.
Yes! Under new management, it couldn't be better. My grandkids love the fun choices. We absolutely luv luv the variety of cronuts too. Happy staff, Happy Donuts and Happy customer!
When walking in there were smiles on the employees faces. The donuts are also really good my favorite is their blueberry donut but their crème brule donut is a must have. The sugar coating is delicious. The ambiance is lacking but it is a donut shop. It's a must try around the area.
Under new management and now this place is revamped! Donuts are delicious! Tried the donut holes (dozen for $3) and cronut holes (half dozen for $4.50)! Sooo good! Also tried the egg, sausage, cheese bagel. Service was quick and friendly!
Great progress on improvements. The shop has had a complete makeover. I'm glad this shop is around the corner for years of future visits Things I wish they would seriously consider improving; - They need lots more seating!! - They take a very long time to make the food which can be frustrating after a while - Some machines don't work! - they don't give mayo /mustard packets/sauces (I was denied) The clerk messed up our order forgetting the customizations we requested. No bacon, not grilled, no cheese. SOO they need a way to record the requests of the customer (not just a verbal acknowledgement ) Now she has to make the whole thing all over! But that is another 10 or 15 minute wait Avocado was bad quality! Disappointing They need to Welcome customizations of the food. They very often say "normally" we don't do that. Or that isn't possible There are A LOT of people getting frustrated with the wait time . It's just too long! I can never come back again unless I'm willing to STAND around for 15mins. People are leaving and coming back from their cars Maybe next time I'll go to Safeway The staff in the front can stay more patient when the customer is frustrated. Th THIS WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE. If you are looking for a great donut/cronut/sandwich/coffee shop in the South Bay, look no further. My favorite is number #1 sandwich in a jalapeño cheddar bagel. The cronut holes are fantastic and so are all the donuts on display. They have Thai iced tea as well as Vietnamese coffee and both are strong! Service is always friendly and kind and the ambience is relaxed, neighborhood joint-kinda feel. Highly recommended! read more

Shocked this place doesn't have better reviews! So many choices on a Sunday morning at 9 am. There was no line, a few people sitting inside. The space is big with some tables, they offer a variety of sandwiches as well on croissants or bagels and different coffee choices. All the donuts I had were so so good!! Dreaming of that big cinnamon roll right now!! read more

I again was going for some boba and for some coincidence there was a donut shop next to it. Is this a San Jose requirement? I'm sure it's pure coincidence. But that won't stop me from getting an apple fritter to try and indeed, I did get one. In short, the apple fritter was a tiny more in cost than the last one I tried and it was so sweet that I was bouncing off the walls. I won't be getting this again but I will definitely be back to try out the other items (if I'm ever back in the area) as service was phenomenal. L O C A T I O N Located off of Lundy Ave., Happy Donuts is located in Kingberry Center. There's a bunch of parking that's pretty busy as there's a laundromat and other stores and restaurants that seem to have a lot of patrons. I did find a spot pretty near to the place. I N S I D E It was very bright and very well stocked in terms of donuts. There were a couple of tables inside and a group of men hanging and chilling around which was cute. I T E M S / M E N U They do have other items besides donuts like coffee and sandwiches. But I was there for one thing. An apple fritter. Generally I would see barely anything left by the time I go into any kind of donut shop. But they basically had everything! They also had cronut holes alongside your normal donut holes. Although I was tempted to buy more than an apple fritter, I stuck to just that one item. It was relatively flat and it looked very glazed and crisp. It was definitely crispy and a bit moist too. The apples felt like they were soaked or even secondarily coated with sugar and cinnamon which may contribute to the excessive sweetness of this apple fritter. It basically hits you like a brick. That's the only flavor profile you get is cinnamon and super sweet. They do have plenty of apple chunks. Just way too darn sweet for me. So if you have a sweet tooth, this is the apple fritter for you. S E R V I C E Service was so great! The person who helped me was so happy and definitely made my day. Payment is $10 minimum for credit card so I paid by cash. O V E R A L L They are definitely happy at Happy Donuts which is a wonderful thing. Although I did not feel like the apple fritter was the best, I would come back and try out their other donut selection and update when I do. The service itself would warrant another trip back if I'm ever in the area and wanting some donuts. Definitely try them out! read more

My wife came here all of the time as a kid. Boy, have times changed. I'd choose Safeway donuts over these, especially for the price. Our first clue to run the other way should have been that there's only one other person there on a Saturday morning...any good donut shop would have a steady stream of people. The cake donuts tasted of old grease and felt "day old." The old fashioned donuts just seemed old (pictured). They weren't even the right shape, and mine tasted burned. From the tired look of the furniture (clean, at least) to the tired, smile-less face on the lady and man behind the counter, this place is meh. Not worth 95 cents per donut... read more

One time, my sweet hubby brought home a croissant with sausage, egg and cheese. I had a bite and I was so hooked that I made him buy me one the next day for breakfast! I didn't know that this was the place he bought it from, and luckily enough, there was a job in the area, and I was able to visit! This is a small donut place, smaller than the ones back home in San Diego. The smell of donuts and coffee seriously reeled me in. I like that kind of smell in the morning, really wakes me up! I ordered #3 croissant ham, egg and cheese for $3.95, a dozen of donut holes for $1.50 (.15 cents each), and a hot dog for $1. The croissant with ham, egg, and cheese was very appetizing to me! The croissant was large, with generous amount of egg and cheese. Some people may not be a fan of this, but I am an egg and cheese lover so I didn't mind that at all. Everything in the croissant was satisfying to me, that if I had more cash with me that day, I would've bought another one! Sadly, this place is cash only. I'm not a fan of cash only because I don't carry cash all the time, so it's a huge bothersome for me. The hot dog was about 5-6 inches long, which was warm and just about average; like how a normal hot dog should taste. The donut holes were salivating, not too sugary or oily. I thought it was just fine. Honestly, I would like to come back to this place, and get my hands on the croissant with sausage, egg, and cheese once again, and also sample the rest of their breakfast sandwiches. The couple here were welcoming and friendly. It's always nice to come back to a place where there's good food and good service. That's all it takes for me to become a regular. =) read more

I prefer to spell it doughnut, but that's how they do it in the sign, so I'm not going to be conflicting. Then again, it's cheaper to spell it that way on a sign. In any case, decent little donut shop, although I would recommend Christy Doughnuts [http://www.yelp.com/biz/christy-doughnuts-san-jose#hrid:RJevJQfYZA-icvquM5egDQ] a few blocks down the road. Kingberry sells their dounuts for around $0.70 each, bars are $1.00. One dozen will set you back $7.25. On the plus side, they have crumb old fashioned. Unfortunately, I didn't see any twists. Seating a little ghetto with basically white patio furniture, although when I went on a weekday morning, the place was pretty full with patrons reading newspapers. read more

My five stars are for their breakfast sandwiches. I'm not a donut person so please dont take my review towards that. I came here with a friend a few years back and she insisted I try the sandwiches there. I told her I was not fond of donuts and she told me I wouldn't be disappointed. I am so glad I listened to her. This place has the best croissant breakfast sandwiches ever. The #9 croissant sausage and cheese with egg is worth every penny. The cheese is melted to perfection and they give you two sausage patties instead of one so that every bite will be full of scrumptious meat. I always opt the egg out because I feel as if it takes away from the saltiness in the sandwich. The only downfall is that when they run out of croissants, they can't make the sandwich anymore. So come early and order that sandwich! read more

I preordered 8 dozen donuts the day prior for business meetings. I asked them where they were located and additional information (clearly I haven't been there before). Well I made the wrong assumption thinking that a business in 2017 would have a credit card machine. They didn't have one and they didn't mention to me that they were cash only, over the phone. The tab was just under $80 and to me, good customer service, someone would give advance notice to customer, stating they are a cash only facility. I get there in the AM and I find out they don't take plastic. They pointed me to a bloody ATM machine inside their shop. Well that would be ok in normal circumstances... but when you are using a company credit card it's useless. Luckily for me I had just enough to buy half my order to get my first meeting fed with some sugar.... Never the less they were not accommodating in the situation. To me, not taking credit and having a ATM machine is just a scam (my opinion). I haven't not seen a donut shop that doesn't take plastic these days... damn roach coaches take plastic! Most will charge you $.50 cent or a small fee which I'm ok with and justified for small businesses. My two stars go to the lack of customer service, not have a credit card machine, not being accommodating and their quality of donuts wasn't the best to have to go through all this.... read more
