Im only giving this place a one star because i need leave a star! Customer service is horrible. We kept on getting interprets in our meal. The server kept on starring. The whole time. And once it was time to pay she was forcing my uncle to leave a tip.my uncle said no and he left to the bathroom before we left . We were getting up to leave once we got the server comes up to me grabs my arm and starts telling me my uncle said he was going to leave her cash tip before leaving when he clearly said he wasn't leaving anything she than continue stating he said i had to leave her a tip. First of all don't harasse people to leave tips you earn those! So the price alone is worth trying this place, dinner @ $10.99. The service is nice and doesn't rush you. The selection is big and for the most part fresh. The only down fall is the chow mein and fried rice are very greasy and flavorless. We were in the neighborhood and decided to try this place out since it was 2 years ago that we ate here. The inside decor has changed and looks better, the service was great but the food items were not steamy hot and fresh tasting. The fried rice had an unappealing yellow color and had old hard rice mixed in when you ate it. The soups were 1/4 full and could use some topping off. The ribs were cold and tasted liked its been sitting there on the warmer waiting for its next victim. The sushi bar was awesome! Not sure if we will be back in the near future. read more

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW!!! YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!!! TRUST ME!! I'm shocked this place has not been shut down by the health department! My husband and I began our meal with what appeared to be seafood. You know, crab legs, prawns (heads on), clams and were whisked away in the rancid odor of rot. Overwhelmed by the smell we tentatively began removing the shells. That was a joke. The crab legs were water logged and slimy. I was actually able to tie one in a knot! A tight knot at that..my failed attempt at humor. Well, after that mind blowing experience, I was able to retrieve meat out of a single leg. Sweet! Not! The flesh was this amazing gray green color, perfect if we're talking eye color, disgusting when were talking crab. Oh yes, the saga gets better. Not to be grossly outdone by the crab, the prawns predictably followed suit, all gray green slimy flesh. At this point my husband and I kept staring at our plates, then back up at each other, engulfed in the putrid rotting aroma and telepathically trying to convey our utter dismay to our waitress who appeared to have just awoken from a coma. Hello Zombie Apocalypse! Obviously, that didn't work. We were stuck. It was so attentive of her to remove our completely full plates without bothering to inquire why they were still full. I guess the social protocol of "How is your food?" is no longer applicable to those whose job it is to ask such questions, but alas, perhaps It is I who expects too much! Round two. Yes, there's more to my tale of woe. Since we were invested and these people didn't care, we decided to try our fate at the usual Chinese Buffet staples like orange chicken, broccoli beef, teriyaki chicken, potstickers, and pepper chicken. At this point, I am thankful both my husband and I hadn't succumbed to death by seafood poisoning, so what the hell, I praised God! We sat down with our plates, and began our journey in hell yet again. I took a bite of that "orange chicken" and thought I broke a tooth! I bit into something that certainly can't be described as food! Perhaps they like to add inanimate objects to their oh so secret sauce! That was it. The smell of everything was musty, old, stomach churning and very clear indicators that these hotel pans of "food" were days, maybe even a week in the making. My husband who is optimistic to a fault, sampled his fare, gagged and said "I don't believe I've ever had anything so foul in my mouth." That was it! I called that Oh so attentive waitress over and said "This food is cold, greasy, old and you're lucky it hasn't killed someone." She aptly responded in a rather rude snarl "You say gross, GO TALK TO HER (pointing to the sweet smiling face of the hostess who knew we were pissed from the beginning)" We left our seats, plates once again completely full, bless that charmingly attentive waitress and briskly walked to the podium. I said, "We will pay for one evening buffet and my husband's soft drink, but I'm refusing to pay for two." She very professionally yelled for our waitress and respectfully had a customer bashing entrende in their native language loudly at the entrance. So professional and thoughtful they were. Bless that hostess and her attitude as she proceeded to tell me that I ate. I laughed. "I ate nothing at this place. I couldn't keep it down, the food at your Happy Buffet is disgusting and dangerous and I'm leaving hungry and pissed." She slammed down the check, I demanded a receipt as proof in case we do have food poisoning, and that weasel managed to weasel an unwarranted three bucks extra to our check. She charged me for a beverage when she knew damn well I had water. Save yourselves people! I have never once complained about food in restaurants, because I work in them. I empathize with the industry, but this, well this was a freakish nightmare! I'm calling the health department tomorrow. I actually watched a kitchen member reload buffet items from hotel pans on the floor in the middle of the buffet area. DISGUSTING!!!! read more

Actually a really good place. Always full, but it's not difficult funding a table. Crowd is your standard riverside crowd. Service is decent and food is actually really good for a Chinese buffet. My wife lives the platains and seafood selection. Price is actually really cheap for the selection they have. I'm always satisfied with this place and so is my family. Have been here many times now. One of my parents favorite places to eat. My mom is real picky with food and she loves this place. Here during lunch hours at the "Happy Buffet".. I have to admit, I am not too "happy" about it. I'm pretty sure your chicken wing shouldn't be green side at all And pizza dough under-done! Some foods are actually pleasant to eat like their salmon, French fries and chow mein; but it does no excuse the lack of basic culinary skills such as rising the good that is no longer good and cooking things to it's full temp and sight. I've been to a lot of buffets, but I always come back to this one. This is a very laid back family buffet. The food is some of the best around, with a nice variety of foods to choose from. All you can eat crab legs, shrimp, sushi etc. Really good won ton and egg drop soup. The staff has always been very nice and helpful. It doesn't bother me if some do not speak very good English, I can always find someone who does if I have a question. I have been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. read more

Wow, We had not been here in some time. I don't recall how busy it was the last time but it was superpacked today, Sunday (about 30 people in front of us). In spite of this, we were seated in less than 10 min. and it was on from there. This place does not dissapoint. There is an extensive food selection (from sushi to ribs, from salads to desserts. The service is awesome (The servers are constantly moving, picking up empty plates and refilling your drinks). An excellent value for the price. read more

I was at the Tyler mall food court and decided nothing appealed to me there when I decided to google the nearest buffet. $7.99 for lunch sounded like a good deal so I came and piled my first plate with the normal dishes, orange chicken, pork chops, french fries, I wasn't too impressed and decided to do all seafood next plate and boy did that next plate improve. There's a dish called seafood party which is a must have, the crab dishes are great and the salmon was also really good. They have these tiny baked seafood pies I dipped into the seafood party sauce....and anyway. Just get the seafood when you come, you won't be disappointed. read more

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! Our waiter literally stood at our table until we tipped her than when we did she had the audacity to say "That's all? No more?" We apologized & she got mad. About once a year me and a friend or two get really stoned and go to happy buffet due to the bizaare almost comedically horrific experience you are guaranteed. You are immediately bombarded by the smell of feces and the lack of hope as you walk into the buffet. As you enter your seat you realize what awaits you. The same generic piano music is playing on a loop which has never changed. The interior is best described as a North Korean banquet hall and can seat 288 people. The French fries were the same I was fed in high school years ago. They offer exotic options such as crawfish,seafood delight and who can forget seafood party. If you like imitation crab you are in for a treat cause they have a sushi bar. Also the salmon sushi doesn't give you food poisoning. Which was a surprising treat. This place is dead in the week with maybe 15 people max so expect your food to be sitting there for a while. The beef and broccoli had the texture of a skin graft. Orange chicken that more than likely had no chicken in them. Egg rolls when squeezed hard enough drip enough grease to fill a small glass. Sushi bar with 8 different ways to make imitation crab rolls. Onion rings that may have been the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten in my life. Grilled chicken that was a hunk of gristle and fat on a stick. Mussels that may have been fossilized at some point sitting begging for a new host. They have crab legs which are a lie since they have no meat in them. Random garlicbread. Happy buffet will change you as a human being. I give this place a one star because as soon as I walked in it was disgusting. I chose to still give it a try because why judge a book by its cover. The bathrooms were disgusting, food had a weird smell to it, everything looked like it had been sitting there all day and I went as soon as it opened. I didn't dare try the seafood because it looked like a bath full of salmonella poison so I passed. Even the table that they sat us at was dirty with spilled soda all over the table and I had to ask them to clean it off otherwise they wouldn't have cleaned it. Coming from O.C. I have eaten in a few very good buffets. Comparing it to those this one should thank their lucky stars they are still in business. I guess its success or failure is relevant to its clientele. If the people that frequents this buffet accept the unsatisfactory level of food that makes up their selection then shame on them. The food is bland and tasteless for the most part. The sushi roll only counter I found serves only fake or imitation seafood at the lunch serving. According to the cashier the dinner is where you get the real food but if it tastes like the lunch food then no thanks to paying more for the same bad tasting food. Interestingly enough a resent customer rates this with five stars for it coy pond and soft serve ice cream! Go figure! For those that think this is large? They do have a lot of table space but the food selection is very limited. I guess if your the kind that likes cheese Pizza and French Fries and poorly made seafood dishes this is home for you. It's a okay buffet. For dinner, only $11 plus tax can't complain. But their shrimp was a little over cooked , it was smooshy couldn't keep its shape & a little too salty . I actually came for the sushi & shrimp and I wasn't very satisfied because they didn't have a whole lot of varieties of sushi. It was more like left overs . & plus it didn't taste so fresh. Went there this afternoon with the family to have lunch. My father and son went into the restroom and while in there a server was taking a piss. Didn't bother to flush when he was finished and even worse did not wash his hands....could not see him anywhere and when we finally did he was coming out of the rest room.
