I've been coming to this location for over 10 years. It's a small place in the corner of an old plaza. When you pull up, you'll be greeted by the smell of delicious baked goods. Parking is sometimes tight, but mostly, there's a spot. Service is fast. The good thing is, they will always have fresh bagels. Being made all day, every day. Quite a variety of flavours too. They're pretty mid, but alright when priced for a dozen. When it comes to the rest of the baked goods, at first, I thought they were reasonably price and generous, but over the years, total shrinkflation. The bagel sandwiches especially have becomes so pricey for what they give. I also would not say they are the most hygienic place when it comes to the cream cheese / salad bar. The Bad: HORRID clientele - one woman who was buying nothing and not looking where she was going almost tripped me. No apology, no reaction. Definition of a great mom & pops hidden gem bakery. Aside from super fresh bagels sandwiches, they offers a huge variety of baked goods. My favourite would be the pecan tart. My go to is the tuna bagel sandwich, for the price you can't really beat it. It is hard to tough decent bakery with good price these days, so come check this place out ! read more

I've visited this location twice and have had some hits and misses. The Bagels: On one occasion the Everything Bagel was fresh, light and the perfect combination of fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The pumpernickel bagel was stale on two different occasions. I bought my dad one and he said it wass hard as a rock the day after I bouGht it. II bought one a few days later for mmyself and it was also hard as a rock. I'm not sure if the recipe isn't tooo great or it was just a batch of old bagels but it left us unimpressed. Desserts: I purchased a small cherry pastry and it was really good. It was flaky and had the right amount of filling. Would I Return? Possibly but I might test some other bagel stores before going back. read more

The interior is nothing to look at, but it is clean inside and looks good for an older building. A great variety of pastries and bagels here; the person that I assume was the owner is very cute and recommended the Cheburek to me and it was very yummy! I frequently come here on groggy early mornings to catch the freshly churned bagels that pop out. Although they make bagels throughout the day, your best bet of catching a steamy one is early in the morning..As the saying goes about the early bird... Also another reason for heading there at sunrise is the breakfast special they have on until noon. It's pretty unbeatable since for $4.39 you get a coffee and your choice of one of their various varieties of fresh bagels with cheese or egg. After having one bite, it's hard to go back to the frozen plastic ones from Tims. The cream cheese that's made in house is also delicious and is whipped to perfection. I've been going here on Sunday morning with my family for several years now and everything tastes phenomenal. The bagels are always fresh (you can see them roll out the machine!) and their cream cheese is to die for. Their mini pastries are also delicious. I can't pick a favourite but I often get the spinach pastry, the feta and olive pastry, and potato and mushroom pastry. Prices here are incredibly reasonable, which is why we keep coming back over and over again. Highly recommend! read more

This place will over charge you if you don't pay attention. I am a big fan of supporting small business, but not when they rip you off. I visited this place on March 28th, 2022 at 9:30am. I got a plain bagel toasted with butter (which was burned by the way), with 2 slices of swiss cheese, 1 slice of tomatoes and 1 small piece of lettuce. I was charged $5.89 CAD. When i referred back to the menu this combination should have cost me around $4 CAD. Overpriced as F*&%. As for the bagel itself, it was mediocre at best! Every time my mother have been there and it's since they opened it's been a wonderful experience from the fresh bagels, sandwiches with smoked salmon and cream cheese to the cream cheese which contains salmon to the various desserts etc. Very reasonable in price for the area read more

Bagels in Toronto are so disappointing and this place is exemplary of the mediocre nature of big uninteresting bagels. More like bread in a donut form factor, the bagels here lack the chewiness on the inside, and a defined crust. Flavour...totally lacking. Will never return. I like going to Happy Bagel because it's healthy and fresh. I would rather grab a bagel from here than at a fast food restaurant, any day! They have a whole wall of bagels of all flavours. The best are the sesame, pumpernickel, and blueberry ones. If you come in the morning they're usually nice, warm, and soft. Their flakey pastries full of cream cheese, olives, and potatoes also make a yummy snack! Their strudels are great too, I usually take one with me before I got to a friend's house. I enjoy their egg salad bagels, minus the fact that if you pick more than 3 toppings there's an extra charge. Their food is generally pricey, but that's the price you pay to support local restaurants. Their seating area is a bit stuffy, because the window there is covered. Also their murals are very tacky and dated. I feel like if they uncovered the window, and added some nice plants, it would give it a new fresh feel. I never eat my food in there for that reason. Their biggest plus is the parking. Come in the mornings before 11:00 to avoid all the high school students. I hope Happy Bagel is at Finch and Bathurst for years to come! read more

one of my favourite bakerys. They make their own bagels 100% fresh everyday. In the morning I always get them still warm or hot right out of the oven. These are east european owners - so the bagels are different from montreal style bagels. they are more "bread like" inside. They are not the light bagels you get at the supermarkets. They are definitely different but still great tasting and most importantly, fresh! They also sell sandwiches and coffee and have small dining area. They have other pastries like danishes, croissants, apple pies, bourekas - all of which i love, and all cooked fresh. Highly recommend. BUT GO IN THE MORNING. By 3pm there is not much left in the way of FRESH goods. Plenty of parking in the plaza too. read more

Can't comment on whether it is Montreal style, Toronto style or what have you but the place is really cool and the bagels are really tasty. It may be "bready" but it is not heavy and felt really light to eat despite the size. The staff are nice, and the coffee if you choose to purchase is twenty times better than Tim's. The bagels & baked goods in this bakery are great. However, I was there this afternoon & as I was grabbing my bagels I stepped on a paper bag that was on the floor. I did not drop this bag. An unpleasant girl gave me a dirty look, proceeded to pick up the dirty bag and put it back for someone else to use!!! Why would she not toss this paper bag that had been stepped on is beyond me!! I went up to the cashier(another unpleasant girl) and told her and my comment was dismissed. I feel sorry for the next person who used this dirty bag to collect their bagels. A thin 2 mm layer of the spread (cream cheese containing smoke salmon fragments) was applied to the bagel for which, had I remained, I would have been charged $7.60 (incl HST). I was hungry, so after discussing it with the owner (who shrugged), I left the bagel with her and drove 3 minutes further north on Bathurst to Saint Urban Bagel, where for 5.50 (incl HST) I enjoyed a bagel with cream cheese and actual slices of smoked salmon. I love happy bagel bagel sandwiches but I hate the inconsistency in pricing. Sometimes "the bagel sandwich combo" includes the price of veggies and coffee and sometimes it doesn't. I have visited lots of bakeries in the area but this one by far takes my heart. They have a good variety of bagels, buns, cakes and other baked sweetness. If you are up for a break, you can fill your bagel with fresh vegetables, cream cheeses of all sorts, meats, fish, and anything you could imagine your breakfast with. If you are up in a hurry or on a mission to feed you office colleges, you will be offered bagels by dozens (every 12th dozen is free) and cream cheese to go! Coffee and tea are there as well. Place also offers a small sitting are that feels warm, but often busy. A breakfast for two including two bagels with lox cream cheese (it is good!), two big baked pieces of sweetness and two coffees will cost you around 15$ + 2 drinks for free. Driving down Finch on the way to the 400 when I spotted the sign Happy Bagel. Yes! We immediately turned the corner and pulled into the lot. OMG. I haven't seen such wonderful looking Danish pastry since leaving Montreal in the 70's. YUM!!! Lots of cheese danish to choose from, large, small, with/without fruit and heavy with the generous amount of cheese they use, and the wonderful light lemony glaze over top. Oh boy. I brought home half a dozen different ones, plus 2 potato bournekas (sp?) for supper, ate a cheese danish there along with a GREAT cup of coffee. I'm fussy about coffee and this was a really good cup of fresh made coffee. I had already had lunch so couldn't sample the sandwiches which looked delish too. Highly recommended! - They also have fresh baked bread, most notably Challah, the Jewish egg bread. Yum again. Yes, we brought one of those home too. This place is now bookmarked on my GPS! Oh, and service is friendly, fast - welcoming... and they do have a small group of tables and chairs where one can enjoy the food and eat in. read more
