An Italian bakery and take out spot that has both sweet and savoury items. Popped in here in the morning to grab a quick pastry. So I can only comment on my croissant that I got. Flakey and tasty just the way I like it. The entire shop had a lot to offer, from cannolis, to cakes, to pizzas, and more. I really wanted to try all their other items, but unfortunately since it was early in the morning, I didn't have much of an appetite. Stumbled upon this little gem when I was in the area. I can never pass up an Italian bakery. It was near end of day on a rainy weeknite so it was quiet and lots of end of day items like sandwiches and pizza and some baked goods. But it's good good vibes. Nice and spacious. Parking is along the side street so definitely convenient if you get a good spot. I got pizza and some bomboloni that they told me they can fill it with whatever cream I wanted!! Bonus!! Overall. Pizza was made well. Good ingredients and bomboloni was good too. read more

March 21/2025: Lunch with the Al. Our counter server was a very nice, polite young lady. This was a nice spot to have a light lunch. I had the daviola pizza. It was spicy, crunchy & delicious. Also had a piece of the mushroom cheese & it was equally as delicious. For dessert I have the traditional Zeppoli. This kinda missed the mark. The pastry wasn't as fresh as it could have been & the filling was a little dry. The big loss of a star would be the seating, which was terrible cheap little seats & the cold from the front door. The cold was not good at all. This is a do over but just not in the winter time...too cold. read more

I love coming in here for treats! This place has earned a strong reputation of baked goods and welcoming atmosphere. For me this place is the closest thing to those coffee bars we visited in Rome and Florence over the holidays. Hubby wanted to get his coffee this afternoon and I want my sweeties. And it really does satisfy my sugar bugs! This place is also my go to cakes when I want to bring it to my friends. I like getting their tiramisu, highly recommend the pistacchio flavour, but the classic one is also great. They also offer sandwiches, pasta, pizza and gelato ( hot season), and even pre made frozen food. The service is generally friendly. I decided to order a cake from here to celebrate a 50th birthday as we would be in the Yorkdale area before heading to the family home to have cake together afterwards. Based on the ever helpful Yelp reviews, I figured this would be my best bet and I'm pretty sure I chose the right place. I called about 2 weeks ahead to ask about options, both regular celebration cakes and possibilities for custom cakes. I spoke with Antonietta, who was very thorough and didn't rush me as I asked about many different possibilities and options. There certainly are many options (although I decided that $20 just for a cake topper alone wasn't preferable to just buying one on my own.) I ended up choosing a regular Classica Italiana. The cakes are absolutely beautiful, and not just in the photos, as I was happy to see when I picked it up. (Note: they are phasing out cream frostings and replacing everything with the mirror glazes. I'm glad I was able to get the traditional frosting as it looks far more classic and elegant.) When I came in the day of, we decided to round the corner and park on the street rather than try to find any parking in the absolutely tiny plaza front spaces. When I came into the shop, it's quite chaotic - there's one of those pick-a-number counter dispensers that nobody's using, and the lineups at one end in front the of the cakes, another end in front of hot food, and another in front of the cash register. Staff weren't really keeping track and I had to intervene at the point where I saw people coming in after me getting served ahead of me. There was a bit of a wait for the cake but it was no worse for the wear. The boxes are beautiful and sturdy, which is really appreciated when you're transporting something delicate and pretty. The cake was super fresh and absolutely perfectly finished. I would totally order from them again. Note: if you want to pay by credit card, it will cost extra, otherwise cash and debit are the posted prices. read more

100% get the Zeppole aka Italian donuts. They tasted so fresh, were pillowy soft, and I loved the light sprinkle of sugar on top! I tried the Nutella one, and I really enjoyed it :) The pistachio cake, on the other hand, had a lemony taste to it, and I'm not a fan of citrus, sorry! I was hoping the cream would have a more nutty flavour. The cake part (less the cream) was great - moist and delicious! read more

I recently ordered a chocolate tiramisu cake for my husband's birthday. I'm not living nearby so I tried to call and see if any delivery service is available. The girl who picked up the phone (I guess her name is Angel) is very helpful and friendly, so as the woman who delivered the cake! :) The cake tastes pretty good and we particularly like the chocolate on top! The only downside is the delivery charge is quite high - even higher than the cake itself. I guess they can consider adding the cake selection online like Uber eat or DoorDash to make it convenient for people to place order. read more

If you haven't been here it's a must. And I worked for Terroni for several years when it first opened & this place is just as good if not better!! Perfect espresso! Amazing amaretti & cannoli! There "Tiramisu" donut with the espresso injector is brilliant and to die for. The fungi pizza take out almost made me cry and if you want a staple for your fridge to eat with almost everything get a container of caponata! They have (which have been impossible to find lately) stiffed fried olives which are great for party season. Lovely sandwiches and sweets, but the mushroom ravioli that costs $18 is awful - the sauce is literally canned Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, with 5 very mediocre ravioli swimming in it- I was shocked anyone would sell something like that. I wish the Amico Bakery had a satellite location in Thornhill or in North Toronto. They are a very satisfying meal ender with any dessert from their location. You can stop in now for a refreshing cone or cup of Gelato or if it is a quick lunch on the run they have a fair variety of things to choose from. I have gone there a number of times for desserts and they are always very tasty as long as you decide to ignore the calories. My wife will willingly break her diet for something from this bakery. I sincerely hope they decide to open a second store front even if it just sells goods from the main location on Dufferin just south of Lawrence Avenue West. read more

Had been frozen, was told to let defrost for a couple of hours. It was very bland. Couldn't taste any coffee or liquer. I would not recommend it. But perhaps their other food is better. read more

Got to try two slices of pizza. Rather bready, but still tasty. The mushroom and garlic one was nice and garlicky. I preferred that to the rapini and ham/bacon bit one. The bitterness in the rapini did help balance out the salt of the ham/bacon though. Lots of Italian people in here. I'm assuming it's the real deal. read more

This place is a must go! It's tucked into a corner building on a quite street next to Dufferin near Dufferin and Glencairn. I had a huge sweet tooth and begged my bf to spoil me (lol). Unfortunately I have to post a poor review. I ordered a tray of "mini caprese bites" off the catering menu for a get together I was attending. The mini caprese bites were $1.95 each - but I was disappointed to discover one skewer consisted of one single small bocconcino and one single cherry tomato. For almost $2.00 a skewer, I was expecting more! The skewers were arranged on a bed of arugula, with absolutely no dressing or condiment. Given that I picked up the tray just before attending the get together, I had to stop by LadyYork grocery store next door to pick up some olive oil and balsamic glaze to drizzle overtop myself. Also ordered focaccia, which became hard after a few hours of sitting out at room temp - did not seem fresh. Very disappointed. read more

Relatively new bakery in the neighborhood so had to give it a try. Ordered a lasagna for Easter and it was delicious - smokey pancetta and bechemel gave it a unique flavor that the entire family loved. Ordered a custom sfoglia cake and it was perfect. Incredibly crisp and fresh. Even the cannoli were like my grandmother used to make. The Sicilian arancini were authentic (Yes, Sicilian arancini have to have peas in it!) My hubby and I stopped into this cute bakery just to get a little treat. Oh my goodness the smell was incredible. Made my mouth water. Everything in there is made from scratch, you can tell by the taste and smell. They make cakes to order and have tiramisu cups ready to go. They even have handmade jellies for purchase. I decided to get red onion jelly. We got some scrumptious looking bread and cookies. Can't wait to try them all. We also got a tasty pastry and Nutella cookies to try in the car. Yum! Nice to know they take debit and credit, so many bakeries don't. You just have to spend a certain amount to use credit which is very reasonable. Definitely worth pulling over and stopping in. Will definitely be going back next time we are in the city. read more

Amico Chef is a great place to buy fresh bread. I love the Calabrese bread and the sourdough bread. They also have Nutella cookies and cakes there. Now there is a place to sit down and eat your pizza or cookies, anything like that. This bakery is right up my alley. Try these cookies with Nutella in the middle. They're so good. I gave this bakery two trys but the last one has cinched it for me never to waste money there again. In short, the baked goods I bought were stale. What is most galling is that I specifically asked if the frozen cake in the display had real whipping cream on it and I was told and confirmed by the owner yes. It was not. It was some edible oil product and then to add insult to injury it was very old/stale tasting. It must have been in the display case well beyond its best before date. Additionally, I thought I would treat myself with a donut. One bite and I tossed it away because it was stale. I could not recommend this bakery because it was the same experience I had the first time so even giving them a second chance proved a bad move. One final thought, they are quite expensive for the product they produce. read more

I never post reviews because I have very little time for stopping and typing, and I'd always rather discover and enjoy. In this case, I have to spread the word. If you have ever had a cornetto e cafe in Italy, and could never replicate the experience, you can put an end to that nostalgia. This place does it for you. Their croissants are the real deal. And the modern cakes and pastries they create are masterful. I had the Mimosa (chantilly creme with strawberry and coconut I think) last night, and it is heavenly. In short, this place represents authentic, modern Italy. I wish this place much success purely for my own selfish motives (I live nearby and love the fact that I can have cornetto and cafe any morning I choose), and because the owners and their staff are such genuinely nice people. By the way, I have given this a 4-star because I believe no experience is perfect and can always be improved in some way, but it is the best rating I ever give. read more
