Decided to come here based on the 5 star reviews. The store has tons of beautiful pastries, tarts, savory and sweet treats, bread, frozen lasagna and much, much more! Service: The front store person was kind and helpful. Efficient in service. Food: Spicy chicken empanada. The skin of this pastry is thicker but not that thick - I feel like it had a bit of "rubberiness" - not exactly sure how to describe it. Thick enough to hold the savory and spicy chicken filling but not super thick. The filling was like minced chicken mixed with some veges. It has a strong spiciness and decent flavor. 3/5. Arancini - this has a really nice thin crispy layer on the outside. The inside has a decently thick layer of rice and then further inside is beef. It is pretty big though! Good flavor. 3.5/5. Donut - this is a pretty big donut, dough is decently fluffy. I did find the dough lacking sugar within itself but that's probably why there's powdered sugar on top. The custard was not bad - it was light in sweetness, nice creaminess against the donut. Might try another filling next time. 3/5. Price: The three items came to 11$ which is not cheap in my opinion. This is the quintessential family bakery making sweet and savoury baked goods on site. The family is from Uruguay, so you'll find lots of South American favourites like empanadas, alfajores and facturas. You'll find lots of treats from various cultures like Italian, French and Portuguese. There is also a limited selection of fresh based breads that are reasonably priced and an impressive espresso machine whipping up all your coffee needs. I came in at 9am on a Sunday morning and items were still coming out. I asked for donuts which were just made and not displayed. The service is outstanding. I was asked what filling I wanted and they went out back and filled them fresh for us. I order half dozen. 2 Nutella, 2 raspberry and 2 custard filled. They were finished out back and still warm when I picked up the box to take home. They're all very big, heavy and delicious! We also ordered various biscuits by weight. There was a large selection and equally delicious. This neighbourhood gem is worth a visit even if you don't live nearby! Don't forget your coffee. read more

Along with my lunch I felt like something sweet. As more and more donut places are opening up it's hard to find a bakery that has this much assorted baked goods and deserts as MarJo. From the cute little delectable assorted cakes that are filling, flavorful o could stop there! Spanish donuts. What's that? Well for just a little over $4 for 4 I thought why not try! Little did I know these aren't so little but the size of my fist with your choice of filling:. Chocolate, Dulce de leche, custard. All I gotta say is .. try it.... And bring 3 friends lol Lastly but certainly not least who could not love some churros and not tiny ones either but nice size with the right amount of sugar. I often go there to get frozen empanadas. Sometimes, I get lasagna and caneloni. All Of them are good. I tried Iced latte and hot latte. They have r good churros. Pistacho cookies are also good. Staffs are helpful and it is a nice shop. read more

Meh. Very meh. So so so meh. I went here last year sometime. I do not understand the current five star reviews. Maybe this place is not my jam? Service: 5 out of 5 stars. Well above and beyond. The owner was absolutely lovely and explained everything to me in detail. Showed me how to pronounce names, ingredients, what her favourites were. Ambiance: Something similar to a cheap Chinese bakery, but mildly more pricier (still incredibly affordable). What I purchased and tried: I love baked goods, and so I bought 2-4 of each one to share with a small group of my friends. The only things I did not buy were the cakes in refrigerated cake display and the cookies. Unfortunately, most items tasted quite dry and hard to me, and none of it was very memorable. I very much remember the dryness. The pastries were bought midday on a Friday, so it wasn't as though the goods were sitting there the entire day. They had a spot for day old items and I don't believe I was served with stale baked goods. Instead of devouring my pastries, I would take a bite and see if the next pastry was any better. Rinse and repeat. The consensus was clear amongst our group. Many of pastries were hard and dry. I do think the Spanish donut was okay. The empanadas were bland. The rice balls were not particularly flavourful. The churros were hard, and boy, I am glad I didn't buy too many. We were pretty disappointed in our group. As I mentioned, the owner is incredibly lovely and sweet. Perhaps the cakes and cookies are where the bakery's strengths are? read more

I live like 2 minutes away from this bakery and I've always wanted to try it. So I finally did today! And boy have I been missing out...dessert heaven. First when you walk in the delicious aroma of sweets slaps you across the face. Let's not forget the friendly guy across the counter, very good customer service. Each pastry is made in house...how awesome is that? I'm a baker myself, but even I don't make EVERYTHING from scratch. All the pastries looked delicious and I can't wait to try them all. I had a cheese bun, as well as a Tiramisu cake slice with a Latte. My mom had the spinach Ricotta bun with tea. We were both so content with our food. This is hands down the best bakery in North York . I rarely care about leaving reviews but Marjo Bakery is a local gem. Their chocolate churros are the best churros I have ever had? Love this gem! My mother is constantly going here and picking up their delicious empanadas for dinner. Upon her last visit she also brought home a few of their pastries. Long story short, I am currently obsessed with their crème brûlée. I was so upset the Red Sailboat Bakery is gone, but make way for Marjo Bakery. The tiramisu was great! Prob one of the best I've had but I'm taking off stars for the Natas which are Portuguese tarts. Those were not good and seemed like they've been taken out of the fridge and placed out. It was cold which meh okay fine but it tasted a few days old. Prob would only come for the tiramisu read more
