Churros

Nice family run place. The person helping us was very friendly. We had an assortment of the empanadas, and some of their desserts (churros, rumball, eclair). The empanadas tasted great. Really hit the spot once you heated them up. The desserts were pretty good. Prices were reasonable.

Decided to come here based on the 5 star reviews. The store has tons of beautiful pastries, tarts, savory and sweet treats, bread, frozen lasagna and much, much more! Service: The front store person was kind and helpful. Efficient in service. Food: Spicy chicken empanada. The skin of this pastry is thicker but not that thick - I feel like it had a bit of "rubberiness" - not exactly sure how to describe it. Thick enough to hold the savory and spicy chicken filling but not super thick. The filling was like minced chicken mixed with some veges. It has a strong spiciness and decent flavor. 3/5. Arancini - this has a really nice thin crispy layer on the outside. The inside has a decently thick layer of rice and then further inside is beef. It is pretty big though! Good flavor. 3.5/5. Donut - this is a pretty big donut, dough is decently fluffy. I did find the dough lacking sugar within itself but that's probably why there's powdered sugar on top. The custard was not bad - it was light in sweetness, nice creaminess against the donut. Might try another filling next time. 3/5. Price: The three items came to 11$ which is not cheap in my opinion. I'll probably come back to try some of their cake items.

This is the quintessential family bakery making sweet and savoury baked goods on site. The family is from Uruguay, so you'll find lots of South American favourites like empanadas, alfajores and facturas. You'll find lots of treats from various cultures like Italian, French and Portuguese. There is also a limited selection of fresh based breads that are reasonably priced and an impressive espresso machine whipping up all your coffee needs. I came in at 9am on a Sunday morning and items were still coming out. I asked for donuts which were just made and not displayed. The service is outstanding. I was asked what filling I wanted and they went out back and filled them fresh for us. I order half dozen. 2 Nutella, 2 raspberry and 2 custard filled. They were finished out back and still warm when I picked up the box to take home. They're all very big, heavy and delicious! We also ordered various biscuits by weight. There was a large selection and equally delicious. This neighbourhood gem is worth a visit even if you don't live nearby! Don't forget your coffee.

Chicken empanadas

Very nice, relatively new bakery in Newmarket, am really happy with my first visit ; the owner is very friendly and welcoming The shop is clean and bright and everything is laid out nicely - lots of beautiful offerings, and everything looks delicious Purchased a few chicken empanadas which were really tasty and made me regret not trying the beef as well and churros which were some of the best I've ever had Will definitely be a return customer

I got different flavours of empanadas. I liked the spicy beef and chicken as well as ham and cheese flavours. Didn't have a chance to try it's pastries this time but I will return to try next time!

Spanish donuts filled with Dulce de leche (but comes in chocolate and custard filling too)

Along with my lunch I felt like something sweet. As more and more donut places are opening up it's hard to find a bakery that has this much assorted baked goods and deserts as MarJo. From the cute little delectable assorted cakes that are filling, flavorful o could stop there! Spanish donuts. What's that? Well for just a little over $4 for 4 I thought why not try! Little did I know these aren't so little but the size of my fist with your choice of filling:. Chocolate, Dulce de leche, custard. All I gotta say is .. try it.... And bring 3 friends lol Lastly but certainly not least who could not love some churros and not tiny ones either but nice size with the right amount of sugar. The next thing I saw last minute that I will be trying soon.... Empanadas! All in all great presentation of food, delicious, fairly priced and worth a visit if you have a sweet tooth.

Came by for fresh baked goods after hearing such great reviews and also because we are Uruguayan as well and happy to support a fellow friend! First off the staff is super friendly and made us feel at home. We picked up a dozen pastries, from sweet and some savoury and all so delicious and as well a few crusted buns that make for a great sandwich, which my boys love! Definitely will be back again soon for more!!

Mango mousse, Red velvet, Pistachio Mousse

My husband found out about this place while searching for a local bakery open during this time. The week before we got a big assortment for my father and surprised him with Nata (omg delicious), turnovers and others. My dad is "not into sweet foods", but had one of everything! Came back today for my Father in Law, as a surprise for Father's Day. We decided on some fancy looking items like the mango mousse (whoooa), red velvet cake, etc. It all was a big hit! The prices are incredible and the variety is always changing. Get in early because lots of the popular items will be sold out!

Stumbled upon a new bakery in North York/Scarborough. They have only been open for a week or so but from the taste of the pastries and churros they definitely know what they are doing. It is a small cafe style bakery which offers european style pastries, Argentinean empandas, and delicious churros. It was a great find and hopefully they are here for a long time

Hitotoki Japanese Bakery - Brown sugar walnut break

Hitotoki Japanese Bakery

What a gem! This bakery is tucked into the southeast corner…read moreof Yonge & College, and walking inside feels like stepping straight into Japan. The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

It was okay. Tried three items:…read more Matcha Lava Tart - The staff said this had the strongest matcha flavour among their matcha items. But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

My wife wanted to go there so we went on 2023-01-31 mid-morning when there would more selection…read more They definitely have quite a selection of pastries and savoury food. My wife always judges a French Cafe by their Butter Croissant ($3.00) and she liked it! She also noticed all the  staff speak French sp it gives it even more legitimacy.  She also ordered a Flat White ($4.50) which was also good. I ordered a Plum Almond Tart ($7.25) because it was the prettiest. It was super delicious so it was definitely a good choice! Service was courteous and friendly. You place your order at the counter and bring it to your table. Someone will come around to clear the dishes when you are done It is a great place to have a nice casual time eating and socializing. They make all their food in-house in the basement. There are products for sale such as coffee beans, fruit syrup, maple syrup, smoked sauces, olive oil, scented soap, wine glassware, etc. I will definitely come back again to try other items. There is free WiFi. The neo-bisto is not wheelchair accessible since there are stairs leading up to the entrance. There are two gender-neutral washrooms. There is free street parking on their one-way south-bound street. Review 2023-017

Amazing place! I…read morecalled ahead to find out if they had this plum tart I purchased the first time I was there. Yet no one answered the phone. No problem. Hopped on my bike and a half hour later I was there. The friendly staff helped me by answering my question regarding eggs and which items did not have any in the recipes. This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
