Dave came out to provide an initial quote and to go over the details of the move in person. He was also present for the move - the team arrived promptly at 9am and worked very fast. They also accommodated several last minute additions to the list of items without any issue. They were equally as prompt and flexible on moving the furniture into our new home. The closing did not allow us to get into the house until 3pm. Nick and team arrived right on time and assembled all furniture within a couple hours. We were able to sit and relax in our new home by dinner time. The quote was right on target and Dave actually discounted a bit for us even though it was at the end of the month and the busiest moving week of the year in Northbrook area. Chris A. and Jack arrived rarin' to go right on time 12/05..on came the booties as they noticed new carpet. Chris remembered me, having moved me 9/23. I knew I was in good hands with this company because of the recommendations from at least 12 friends, and Dave..wow..he was able to change me from 7a.m. to 10 a.m. PERFECT! The 5 movers I've had are..very exacting and how they move in a quiet/not "rushing" way made me extremely comfortable/confident. 2 moves in 2 mos. can be difficult, but not with these guys! They gave me the time to place my piano (a matter of 1-2" to make work) as well as a triple dresser, 2 other pieces of furniture on 1 wall in the bedroom. I mentioned to Jack how loose the headboard was, and bingo..all tightened! This move back also included several flower pots balcony to balcony and done exactly as I wanted. We have used Happ Movers for three moves over many years. Today, I called to ask for estimates on moving everything to our garage while we have all of our floors redone. Even though Greg knew that we may end up not doing this job, he spent so much time answering my questions and reviewing our files from seven years ago to see how much stuff we had. He offered suggestions for how we could do this the cheapest way possible. We needed movers to help us pack our UHAUL for a move East. We packed, they loaded the truck. They sent four guys for a job that lasted a couple of hours. I rate them five stars because they took charge of the job, they asked intelligent questions, and took care of the entire job. Also they were social and could carry a conversation and answer any questions that came up. We had a ton of stuff on all three floors of a townhouse in Glenview and they all worked hard and fast to get everything staged and loaded within our small timeframe. The crew worked together well and definitely were experienced at working as a team. The pricing was reasonable and within our budget. I have moved quite a bit in the past and have had a few really bad moves....so I do a lot of research before I move. I have heard that Happ was good....but that doesn't always mean anything...I then looked them up through Angie's List and they got great reviews. And I also looked them up using the Better Business Bureau - although they are not officially accredited with the BBB, they did get an A+....this means a lot when choosing a service to use. I called to make the appointment a couple weeks ago, the owner answered the phone....he told me which day they were available and the time. I only called once to confirm (only because of a bad experience from the past)...Three very nice guys showed up 20 minutes early and respectfully introduced themselves...they surveyed my apartment before they did anything. I mainly had furniture, but they made sure to wrap everything before taking it into the truck. They made sure they asked me where things should be placed when they moved the furniture into my new place....I actually asked them to help rearrange once everything was in since I can't lift furniture...and they happily assisted. The lead guy also helped made sure all the furniture was put together which is really nice....All of them three guys were super nice, but the lead driver was very pleasant to work with and was super helpful. Best move ever. From the moment I called to find out prices and set up a date, I felt like I had made the right choice. This is a family business and you definitely get the feeling that you are a valued customer. Their entire staff is professional, very friendly and straight forward. They clearly explained their pricing, they charge a rate per hour (rate depends on the number of movers you hire). The hourly rate starts from the time they leave their office in Glenview and ends when they return back to their office. That is it. There are absolutely no hidden fees. During the actual move, the guys were quick, efficient and very careful. I have to say, I could not have asked for a better experience in moving. When I called to set up an appt. for an estimate, the gentleman who answered was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. The gentleman who came to do the estimate was equally polite, knowledgeable and helpful. On moving day, the team was prompt, clean, and very polite. They walked through the house so they knew exactly what they had to do, they asked questions appropriately along the way. We have a number of antique furniture pieces -they pointed out existing damage so there would be no issues after the load and unload. We had a large ranch house with a very full basement. They were efficient and worked at a very good pace. They went to lunch which they deducted from the time on the bill and when they finished unloading, they walked through the new house with us to see if we wanted anything located differently, We had "mapped" where we wanted everything in the new house but there were a few things we asked them to shift around and they were very patient and accommodating. When the job was done, the lead driver explained all the charges thoroughly. I would highly recommend Happ movers and would use them again without hesitation. read more

I contacted Happ movers to simply bring a large new double vanity to an upstairs bathroom. We didn't feel comfortable dragging the extremely heavy vanity up our curved staircase. To make matters worse, to get it into the bathroom would require that the vanity be stood up on end to get it through the bathroom door. They quoted me a price of $125 with no travel fee since we live in Glenview. Unfortunately they were so busy, I couldn't get a guaranteed time slot until the following week. Sharing the only remaining bathroom in house with our two kids made me very sad that it would be another week that we couldn't use this bathroom. I was honest with Dave (the man on phone at Happ) and said I needed to call around to see if I could get a sooner date. He understood. Twenty minutes later and 4 calls to different movers I was appalled . Other movers claimed to be located in my city and were not. They were charging a $65-$75 travel fee, they wanted 1-2 hour minimums at a much higher rate than Happ and simply were not as professional as Dave. When I explained to to the others that this was simple as moving one vanity up a staircase, they could care less! I called Dave back and solidified next week's delivery and established a "we might be able to squeeze you in earlier" discussion. 24 hours later Dave fit us in. It truly took the crew 10 minutes. You can tell they were pro's at this, as the two of them communicated every move and step to each other. When my husband went to pay them, they LOWERED the price.......yes Lowered the price to $87 because it was so short a job!!! WHO LOWERS THE PRICE? Happ did!! I write this 5 star review because he squeezed us in when he didn't have to, They decreased price which is insanely generous, and they did all this professionally with my home and vanity free of a single mar or scratch! Used Happ to move from Mundelein, IL to another home 15 miles away a couple wks ago. Had a crew of 6 guys and 3 trucks for a two story home with apparently more stuff than I realized! I packed my own boxes in the weeks prior. These guys moved me impeccably. I had a really heavy bedroom set (coming down stairs) and sleeper sofa (coming up stairs), and an armoire. I had exercise equipment, fishing poles, tools, bikes, a large grill and patio furniture. Not a piece was scratched or damaged and they wrapped the doorways of old and new home with padding to further prevent damage to those. They moved my stuff nonstop and were all very pleasant. My first quote over the phone was lower than when the Happ rep personally viewed my house prior to the move so I recommend not doing a quote strictly from your own spoken inventory. We wrapped & taped our own artwork in blankets so that saved money. They took our 2 queen beds apart & reassembled them, which was so helpful. Label any glass tops you have with tape so they are easily match to the furniture as they are separated in the truck. I labeled all my boxes & taped a piece of paper to the walls at new house where I wanted different pieces so that saved time too. I definitely recommend Happ. read more

Happ just moved me in this morning, and I could not be happier with the level of service that was provided. The village of Glenview does not allow PODS, but I made very specific arrangements with the village and with PODS for a 24 hour exception. For whatever reason, when PODS arrived to deliver our unit they thought we did not have a permit (we did) and left without notifying us. This put us in a huge scheduling and legal bind. When I contacted Greg with Happ and explained our predicament he was more than helpful. He said he would be in communication with me throughout the next day to see whether or not he could send a crew right after the rescheduled pod was to be delivered, and he did just that. He made a plan A and a plan B - we ended up with a plan B of the following morning. The crew arrived at 7:15am on the dot, as promised. They were very courteous guys and did not waste any time. They made sure to do a walk through with me to make sure everything that had been moved in was in the right place and moved anything I requested be repositioned. They even helped move out two giant cabinets the seller left behind that we did not want. The bill was exactly as I expected, and they were very grateful for the small tip I gave to them. I absolutely would use Happ again and recommend them to anyone! read more
