He took the time to rework estimates, negotiate costs, provide all the information I needed and make every accommodation possible. He sent me a personal video of the car I was interested in, responded to my messages even on his days off, was willing to arrange transport from over 30 miles away, and stayed multiple hours past closing. Brandon didn't just stay late to complete the sale, but made sure I had everything I needed at every step and even helped set up my phone after locking up and made sure I drove away happy and safe. Poor communication and feels like a bit of lack of transparency. I took my car in for an issue I had previously mentioned when I brought it in for an alignment, but that concern was not really addressed, and the problem persisted. Initially, I was quoted $700 for the repairs, but the final cost ended up being $1200--nearly double the estimate. When I pointed out the significant difference in price, I was told that the quote was just an estimate and didn't include tax. While I understand that estimates can vary, that's a big discrepancy and should be clearly communicated, especially regarding whether the quote includes tax or not. read more

Found out we needed some major work done on our vehicle from another dealership, so we reached out to Olympia Subaru ( who we originally purchased) from for a second opinion. As soon as I called and gave Olympia Subaru 's service technician my account number, we were told my vehicle can no longer receive service there. Bought my Subaru used next door at Titus will. Took it to hanson or olympia Subaru to get what I believe is a transmission issue. I have taking my car in a few times now for the same issue, took a service tech for a ride and he confirmed it was a transmission issue. Then they reset the computer or something (it's what was told to me by Lloyd who is a service manager) and of course I took him for a drive and the issue was resolved for about 24 hours. I told Lloyd that I had videos of what the car would do and my complaints and he told me " the videos you have doesn't matter, I can't do anything based off of those" even if he can't do anything, the customer service thing to do would have been entertain me by watching the videos and telling me something. On top of the few times I've taken my car in there, there are 3 warranties and 1 of them being transmission and the 2 others were some other things that he said he would be ordering the parts and it would take 3-4 weeks. I am currently at 12+ weeks with no word from this Lloyd fella. My feelings are that because it's a warranty issue they are pulling my strings but if I were to pay out of pocket this issue would have been fixed, and the parts for the other warranties would have been already replaced. I will not be taking my car to Hanson/olympia Subaru again. The reason for 2 stars and not one is because the service tech I took on a ride the first time was very knowledgeable and listened to my concerns. Very disappointed. Drove way out of my way to go to this dealership. Their pricing for new cars are about the same as everyone else. It was the trade in that broke the deal. When talking with them prior to making the hour plus drive, I was told that the owner was very aggressive and fair on trade in values. When they showed the first offer, I told them you got to be kidding. They counter by adding a couple more thousand. However they were still $3000 less than what I had been offered in my area. The only reason I went to that dealership was because they had the Outlook I wanted in stock. Instead I just went to my local dealer and ordered one. Granted I have to wait a couple of months, but at least I'm not getting ripped for my trade in. I feel like they lured me in with empty promises and expected to go with it. Nope. Hanson motors practices the usual Dealership schemes. But I have learned to be careful. Jeff is a service person, I trust. About a month ago, took my Subaru in for the 90,000 mile service. A different person was assigned to my case. They tried to to upsell other services totaling over a $1000. As an example, they offered to replace the rear windshield wiper blade for $24 and labor was "free". I later bought a windshield wiper blade at an auto shop for half the price and they installed it for free. The service tech told me that it would take more than one day and gave me a new Crosstrek with 2000 miles on it. Cool until It developed a flat tire. Thankfully, Firestone put the spare on for me. I called Subaru service who didn't offer to help! Be careful and informed if you use their service Department or buy a vehicle from them. I am considering a different dealership. read more

I've taken my car in three times. Once for a routine oil change and twice because of low tire pressure. All three times the staff has been extremely courteous, patient and attentive. Everyone here is friendly. I dealt with Iona or Iola (sorry, I am terrible with names!) every time and this young lady deserves a raise! She made me feel comfortable and she was very polite. I felt like an idiot and hate dealing with car problems but she was sympathetic and reassuring and I felt much better knowing she was going to see to it that my car was taken care of. Even though I came in without an appointment, Hanson's took care of my car and replaced my tire. Granted I had to pay for it but it's not their fault I drove over a nail. Iola has always walked me to my car afterwards and made sure I knew that if I had any issues or questions that she was there to help. Seriously, she needs to be promoted. Her customer service skills are excellent. On another note, the waiting area is very nice. There's coffee, tea and water as well as snacks. There's a big TV and free Wi-Fi. The restroom is clean. I highly recommend Hanson's and although I hope I don't need to go back any time soon, I'll definitely be back when it's time for my next oil change. read more

My wife and I drove from Gresham, Oregon to Hanson (about 120 miles one way.) We test drove the vehicle we were interested in, thoroughly liked it, and were ready to purchase it until I found a nail in one of the tires. The maintenance doors were still open (it was about 5:40pm) but instead of making the quick repair to the tire, we were sent away and invited to return. Again, that is a 240 mile roundtrip. When I asked for some sort of concession or incentive to cover having to make that drive for a second time, Hanson refused! I was getting 50+ calls from dealerships all over the states every day for about a week and one call from Hanson Subaru's internet sales team got me off the computer and going to the dealership. A calm voice and support that felt unforced and truthful. When I got to the dealership, I asked for the internet sales team and got connected with Aaron from the sales team. With a knowledge of what I was looking for, Aaron kindly offered me a test drive of a model that was right in the price range but a different model. My final straw, is the latest new policy, where they are no longer offering a free loaner vehicle while your car is being worked on. Terrible service from sales and management. They sold my teenage granddaughter her first car and its proved to be crap, shes had it less than 2 weeks and nothing but really bad issues from day one. Came into Subaru to finish paperwork after husband traded in vehicle days before. Husband called our salesperson to let him know I was coming (with infant) and to have paperwork ready. When I arrived that person wasn't there and the other employees had no idea what to do or how to help me. The whole ordeal should have taken 5 minutes but ended up being an hour and a half of confusion and being bounced between departments. We were stopped two times on our way to the car for last minute requests. Finally, baby was out of patience and started screaming as we walked back into the dealer for more signatures. Yikes. This has been just a dreadful experience dealing with Hanson Subaru My 2014 Subaru Forrester was having an issue with starting correctly. At times it would not "catch" and fully start, just sputter and die. I took it to Hanson and for almost $300 they made a software adjustment to the idle program. Next my radio started to get wonky, the Bluetooth quit working and parts of the radio froze up. This is a known issue, there is a Technical Bulletin that says it's an eight minute fix, inserting a flash drive into the USB port and letting it upload to the radio. I called to get a price quote in advance and was told it is $150 plus tax. Total rip off. Stay away from these scammers. I'll not even let them change my oil moving forward. There are many good second party repair shops that are honest and looking to build a relationship with their customers. Don't be fooled into thinking that the dealer will do a better job for you. read more

A rat got into our '21 Legacy's engine and chewed up a bunch of wires, etc. The car still ran, but the cruise control, eyesight system, etc weren't working. We took it into Hanson where we initially bought it and they estimated the damage right around 4000. Our insurance got it independently appraised and wanted a non-ideal repair done for 600. Not only did Hanson say that that was not safe and refused to do it, they kept the car for 5+ weeks and went back and forth with insurance until they agreed to pay for the safer repair. They didn't pay them what they actually wanted, but they made it work anyways. I am forever grateful. I love my car and am so glad to have it back!!! read more

I wanted to update my review for Hanson Subaru due to a positive experience I had a few months ago. There was something wrong with my O2 sensor and Scott took care of me and my vehicle splendidly. He went the extra mile to call the dealership where I purchased my Subaru Crosstrek (AutoNation Honda in Renton), to discuss the warranty and all that good stuff. Apparently AutoNation Honda told Hanson Subaru that they wouldn't cover the part that needed replacing but Scott let me know that everything would be taken cared of since I had extended warranty, so I appreciated Scott's advocacy on my behalf. Anyways, the O2 sensor was fixed, and I didn't have to pay a single penny! I also received an awesome 2020 Subaru Forester as a complimentary vehicle while my car was in the shop. I gave a 4 star instead of a 5 because when I went to pick-up my car, I literally waited almost 25-30 minutes for an employee to bring it out... and the shop was NOT busy at all. I'm not sure if it was just some staff miscommunication or whatever, but yeah. read more

My gosh. I'm not sure what's going on with this dealership. I have experienced the sales staff to be incredibly rude and condescending. In March of 2019, I was looking to purchase a new or CPO Subaru. Being in Olympia, I visited Hanson to discuss a car purchase and view their new and used inventory. The salesperson I interacted with labored on about how they "hardly have to make any effort--these cars sell themselves!" That was evident as he exerted no effort whatsoever regarding the vehicles. When I asked for a spec printout of a Forester, he said, "Well, I guess I could....but I'd have to go into the office and print it out" and actually sighed. I felt like I was bothering him to get information about any of the cars. This repeated. Eventually, I went up to Carter Subaru in Seattle and got an amazing Crosstrek. (They were great to work with on all fronts.) I have gotten two oil changes at Hanson since, and haven't had a particularly negative experience with their service staff. That rolled smoothly. I did however return to Hanson to ask about cable chains and whether they had any in inventory (I was heading out to Mt Rainier the following weekend). The salesman actually laughed at me, saying "what the heck do you need those for? It's a Subaru!" and laughed some more. He proceeded to tell me that you don't need them, do I know how AWDs work, and how he constantly talks people out of chains. I answered that I am legally required to carry additional traction for the vehicle in national parks and mountain passes like I-90. He suggested I just pick up a set of cheap-o chains to show law enforcement, but that "they won't do any good on the car once they're on the tires" First of all, this is false and this person was uninformed. Subarus require SAE Class S tire traction, as the higher clearance means less room in the wheel well itself. So yes, conventional tire chains do not work. But there are traction options, as Subarus are not magic vehicles and treating them as such in mountain environments is unwise. Ronnie was also extremely patient with my questions and gave me a lot of good information, he let me test drive and sit in every model I wanted to in order to help me make my decision. I would like to share my experience regarding the service department from June 10, 2019. My 2018 Subaru Cross Trek had a radio recall that needed to be taken care of. I brought my car in the morning of the 10th. I stood for a couple minutes at the counter as the service agent finished up some computer work and then acknowledged me and helped check in my car. I stood at the counter as he took care of this. I took the courtesy shuttle with the only friendly employee I have encountered at Hanson. When I returned to get my car, I again stood at the counter as Andrew, the service agent, finished up some computer work and then acknowledged me. He retrieved my car, I signed some paperwork and was sent on my way. I made a quick stop on my way home and noticed a dent in my passenger side door that had not been there prior to dropping off. I drove immediately back to the service department, again waiting on computer work to be completed and then was asked what I needed. I explained the dent in my door and he tried finding it. In the correct lighting it is obvious but it is small and hard to see if the lighting is low. He explained he would need to contact the Service Advisor and I said that was fine. Scott, the Service Advisor arrived at my car several minutes later. He looked and explained that I could not prove the dent was done there as he pointed to a scratch and a driver's side dent. My impression was he did not believe me. He mentioned he could look at the dealership cameras to prove this. He told me his boss would contact me on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 to see what could be done. I left the service department and had to return minutes later as my radio had no volume. Andrew drove my car back to the shop area where he explained they had to do a hard restart on my radio. About 20 minutes later I was on my way home. As of today, July 30th, 2019, I have not received a response from Scott, the Service Manager or his supervisor. I am meticulous about my car and other than the ding on my driver's side, there are no others. My husband and I have purchased three brand new vehicles from Hanson Subaru in the past several years and am disappointed with the service and treatment I received a week ago. The customer service I received needs some attention. You should always greet your customer first, explain you are finishing up some prior work and will be right with you. I did not receive any acknowledgment the four times I stood at the counter, until after the computer typing had stopped. This is not the first time we have had issues with the service department. My husband brought in our Subaru Legacy, the car we traded in for the Cross Trek, to have a rattle looked at. At the time, it was raining and were told it would be too loud for anyone to do a ride along. The second issue we experienced was when we brought in the Legacy to have the sunroof repaired. I had cream leather interior and when I picked up my car, it was marked up with grease and oil on the inside of the car. It was remedied with a detail but again the service we received was not ideal. We are not a family who complains but now, after the third bad experience, it was time to write a review and express our frustrations. While we have loved working with Hanson's Sales Department, the Service Department needs improvement. We purchased an extended warranty on the Cross Trek and may need to look elsewhere for our service to be taken care of. What do I want as a resolution? I would really like my dent removed but I know that will never happen. I would like you to evaluate the customer service you are giving in your service department. I no longer feel comfortable coming into Hanson's Service Department and will now have my husband take care of any service or as I mentioned earlier, we will look for other service options. read more

On September 28, 2019, my wife and I went to pick up her Subaru Legacy to Hanson Subaru in Olympia. The bill came to $2,444.23. I asked Wendy (the Service Dept. representative) if they offer any discounts to veterans, senior citizens, etc. She said they didn't. I mentioned that Costco's Auto Program offers it members a 15% discount on parts, services and accessories for participating dealers. Only then did she inform me their dealership participates in Costco's Auto Program program. Since I didn't have the coupon in my hand right then, she said I could email it back to her. I did so later that day. A few days later I received a partial refund on my credit card for exactly $200.00, basically an 8% discount...not 15% offered through Costco's Auto Program. They were short $168.53. I wrote Wendy the email below: Wendy: I don't understand why we didn't receive a 15% discount for the work on the Subaru, especially after I presented you with a coupon from COSTCO. Most people are getting their Kia Souls stollen by kids, mine was stollen by Kia Motors (not really but it is virtually unusable). I bought my Kia Soul here with my life savings in 2012. I had 25k cash. I wanted a Sportage; they told me I couldn't afford it. They convinced me to buy the Soul based on the mileage they said I would get and because I would still have the "amazing" warranty. Fast forward a bit- mileage was a flat out lie. Fast forward to last summer. 70 something thousand miles, always done oil changes, always gentle on engine. Car started sounding like a "little tractor". They tell me it isn't part of any recall- okay, still under warranty. I ended up bringing it in when a cloud huge of white-light grey gas smelling smoke came out. They tell me it's parts NOT under warranty. "Fixed". Still sounds like a tractor. They say they can't hear it and can't replicate it. First time I drive outside of the county, it tries to die on the freeway and stops a few times. I took it back (with a brand new window put on that day) and they hide it in the back so long THEY FORGOT THEY HAD IT but magically "the parts came in today" when I questioned why they had it months. "Fixed". When I picked it up it was completely covered in mud, still knocking and my engine light was now on. They come make the light go off. I asked manager had the change to drive it and listen to the knocking- no reply. He tried to tell me the tractor noises was a new issue but it was the first and constant issue. So much more to this but bottom line, don't depend on them honoring the warranty. They ended up comping a small repair under "goodwill" warranty to throw me a bone because they sat on fixing the real problem and ran out the clock on my warranty. It's taken me a while to write this because my best friend died over the months dealing with this. Right after I picked up the car, my year old grandson died and then just shy of two months later, my teenage son was murdered. I still can't get out of bed most days but I'm going to start speaking on this because I have been calling Kia for months and they said they can't help me. I took a road trip today to see family and the turn signal switch failed in my Subaru Legacy without warning. I drove about 50 miles with the flasher module clicking incessantly and was about to lose my mind. Not to mention it being extremely dangerous to not have functioning turn indicators. Working as a Parts Advisor for another Subaru dealership, I was able to find that Hanson Subaru had the part I needed. I stopped in and Seth in parts sold me a new switch at the dealer-to-dealer price and also provided me with hand tools so I could install it in the parking lot and continue on my way with my family.
