Every place is having trouble since Corona. I've been understanding, of a lot of mishaps that usually don't happen, but if you check the recent reviews, this location has been slipping for awhile. If you heard great things about the great fresh food and portions, as well as a wonderful beer selection. All of it is true, just not anymore. There's isn't anything to do on the back patio, the Cornhole set is gone, the food was average at best, and the once mighty drink selection was down to just a few options. I went here for lunch with colleagues for the first time. The waitress was great and split our checks individually without us even asking. Perhaps because it's by a college campus, I'm not sure, but it made things convenient once we were ready to go especially since some of us had meetings to get back to. They are known for their breakfast (so I am told), but the breakfast options had a lot of bacon related items or chorizo so I ended up ordering a veggie burger with waffle fries. Everything was good, but the lack of veggie options made me sad. They have a great outdoor space with seating that could be great in a nice day. Bloody Mary was a great starter and I bragged about it the remainder of the day. Food was delish. I had the breakfast tacos w chorizo and it was not too spicy, not too heavy and definitely not greasy like some can be. Very fresh and perfect portion size. I have been here twice, gave it a second chance. Food relatively inexpensive, but I'd probably go Chik-fila breakfast sandwich instead. First time ordered the dirty sanchez per the recommendation of the waitress and based on the description sounded pretty good. Being from Texas, I'm used to good texmex, so unfortunately, this was not quite what I was expecting when they said eggs and chorizo. The tortillas are not homemade and a bit thick for the burrito. Personally, I prefer thinner tortillas. Temperature of the food was fine. My friend ordered the bread pudding french toast with syrup on the side, being a vegetarian, options were that or the black bean burger for brunch. Syrup ended up spilling all over the french toast, and it was excessively sweet that my friend unfortunately did not finish the meal. Service was okay overall for how busy it was. Second time, I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was good, but again, nothing to write home about. Chicken tenders on waffles. If you want good chicken and waffles, I suggest going to Vegas to the original, Hash House A Go Go and tell me that you are not 100% satisfied. My friend ordered the the CBH which I think he was happy with. Overall, it's close to campus, but aside from that, I'd probably go elsewhere for brunch. read more

It comes loaded with perfectly seasoned chicken, black beans, cheddar cheese, queso, fresh pico da gallo, and two sunny side up eggs. Clearly this place caters to UC students, so I am not their targeted demographic. But I do know that mediocre food and slow service don't add up to a winning formula. We had a rather large lunch group, which required us to split up. No big deal, except that we arrived during lunch hour and had to wait for tables to open up. It took 15-20 minutes for us to be seated, which is not the fault of the restaurant, but the huge time lapses between being seated and getting drinks, and ordering food and receiving it, and finishing and getting the bill are on them. We had an uncomplicated order, and the menu isn't that extensive in the first place, but the kitchen seemed swamped. I'm told that it gets far crazier than this when school is in session, so a normal weekday lunch shouldn't be such an issue. It's not like the food is special in any way, just diner fare with loads of beer on tap and some cocktails. The encouragement to drink too much is everywhere in little plaques with drinking related epigraphs, and it's off-putting as well. I know that college kids always want to push their limits (I was one myself once upon a time), but it's quite dangerous and irresponsible to tell people that the drunker the better. Okay, my mini-rant is over. I'll just conclude by saying there are better breakfast/lunch options. read more

Tried the BELT, barely any lettuce and tomato, saltiest bacon I have ever had, and really thick bread, it was like jerky and bread. I couldn't finish it because it was so bad. Some other people in my party had the breakfast sandwiches and goetta. I don't think you can go wrong here with food/drinks. The only downside was the seating situation. I was in a party of 6 and a 2 year old (who needed a high chair). The hostess plopped us in a large elevated booth, which was very uncomfortable. I have visited Hangover Easy 3 times now and unfortunately, I want to like this place but their overall inconsistency is quite a problem. Generally the food has been good- as a matter of fact, the reuben is probably one of the best that I have had in all of Cincinnati. If it were for the reuben sandwich alone this place would get an easy 5 stars from me. However, the problem has been with a lot of the other food and the service as well. Hangover easy is generally very busy for the most part and it attracts a good crowd of students from UC. They also have a great beer selections (both by the bottle AND draft). Going back to the food, though, I fail to see what so many others list as "stellar" bites. I ordered the much discussed dirty sanchez and it was cold, greasy and just overall unappetizing. The pancake, while huge, was very dense and not fully cooked in the center. The bacon was burnt to hell and back and as another person mentioned, the sausage did seem gamey, indeed. However, what really tipped the plate for me was that today myself and couple of friends stopped by around 1 p.m. with the intention of trying their HOE Burger since it was advertised as a $5 special for Cincinnati Burger Week. While I can say that my burger was cooked way past my requested "medium" I'll still concede that it was very tasty. The accompanying fries were good in taste, but they came out limp and soggy. The real disappointment was that when we received our checks we were charged the full $9.99 for the burgers instead of the advertised $5 price. When we asked the waitress why she replied with a flippant response of "That special doesn't start until 4 p.m.". Now normally, I would be fine with this- if it were advertised that way, but it WASN'T! As a matter of fact the sign in front of the restaurant didn't mention anything about it at all and neither did their facebook page. If the special isn't starting until 4p.m. why would you a sign out at 1p.m.? When we pointed this out to the waitress she didn't even bother to apologize or alert the manager- she did nothing at all. I am not a cheap person, but I truly believe that you need to honor a special if it's being advertised. I've even included a picture of the sign. Overall, Hangover Easy is an establishment that I most likely won't visit again. Get your shit together. read more

I usually take pictures of the food I eat at new restaurants I visit but it looked so good and it tasted so good that I was done eating before I realized I didn't take any pictures. I came in on a Thursday evening and it was really slow so I didn't have to wait and I ate right at the bar. The place is really cute and there's even a fireplace so it sets a tone. I just hated the bathroom sink. The handles didn't stay on- you have to hold them. I ordered Bread Pudding French toast, which was really just French toast and Totchos (vegetarian style) and they have happy hour from 3 to 7PM where you can get one dollar pancakes so of course I had one pancake. There were drink deals with the happy hour as well, but I don't drink so I didn't pay any attention to that. Everything was extremely delicious and fresh tasting. The servings were just right; not too much that I couldn't finish it, but just enough that I felt like I could eat a little more if I wanted to. The French Toast had apples and was very tender and had enough whipped cream that I didn't even need the syrup. The Totchos came with pico de gallo and queso and another kind of cheese but I would've liked a little bit more of the pico de gallo. Either way, it was very rich tasting and delicious. The pancake was fluffy and a really nice size! I will definitely be back, especially between 3 and 7 PM on a weekday. read more

I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and my girlfriend got the Hoe Burger; her burger was much better than my sandwich but neither were mind blowing. The mimosas aren't that great and the glasses they brought to us had pulp in them from the last folks who used them. Hang Over Easy (HOE) is a greasy spoon with expansive hours and a whole bunch of beers on tap. HOE offers down to earth egg based dishes, pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese and most other American dishes you can think of. The food is not super impressive but it is pretty good for the price. I have tried their burger and their chicken and waffles. Everything I have had here has been pretty good. The coffee is good and it is bottomless. Service has been good on my visits here. The food is amazing! But the douche canoe working the bar with the bad stashe needs to head back to customer care 101. Here's what not to do next time buddy: 1. When you have 6 people at your bar maybe ask me what I what to drink in the 1st 10 min. 2. Clean off the bar section so I can have a clean place to eat and have a beverage. 3. When a customer asks what comes on the burger (that's is not on the menu), maybe respond with more details besides: some eggs, and hot sauce and other stuff. When we received it we noticed u forgot to let us in on all the other things on it. 4. Don't make me ask you to refill my water 3 times. 5. When people are done eating and drinking -that might be a good time ask if they would like anything else or their check. 6. When you bring the check, set it down and walk away. Hang Over Easy is definitely the epitome of a college campus breakfast/late night joint and I think it was a great addition to the Clifton restaurant scene. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of french fries and was not disappointed. The only disappointment I had was not having room to order more food to try! I had to pack half of my meal as leftovers because the portion was so large (which I did not complain one bit about). The sausage gravy was nice and creamy with very flavorful and hefty chunks of sausage and the biscuits were nice and fluffy. The french fries were very good, especially with the bacon aioli! I repeat.. BACON aioli. They had a pretty large menu with both breakfast and lunch.. and I was told they also have a separate late-night menu as well.. and they serve alcohol! Tl;dr great place for ambiance and service. Food is good but not all of it is great. Update 4/23/15: I tried the HOE burger with bacon fat fries! Oh my lord! What a well constricted and unique burger! Potato bread/brioche bun, patty made with goetta, bacon onion jam, bacon aioli, perfectly cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and sunny side up egg! This burger was pretty hefty and had great flavor! The bacon fat fries have a light sprinkle of paprika that give them a BBQ potato chip essence. They were cooked well too, light and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Frog eyes (biscuits and gravy with eggs) and HOE fries. I have to agree with some other reviewers and say that the food was good...but not impressive. HOE has a great environment and ambiance. Lighting is ambient, a crackling fireplace sits before two modern lounges, white swatches in the tile and bar play a big part in the lighting, and it just makes for a really enjoyable place to sit down and have a great meal. My service was also really great. The waitress was attentive and sweet. Service + plus ambiance got that extra star, but if I'm judging the food alone, it's 3 stars. My portion of biscuits and gravy was HUGE, and the seasoning was right. The HOE fries just weren't as good. I am not a huge fan of home fries in general because "fries" indicate that something should be crispy! These fries fell a little flat for me..and left me wanting french fries. Overlooking the menu I saw nothing innovative or really interesting. Standard omelets, standard sides, looking at the "dirty sanchez" pictures I was a little discouraged because of the HUGE flour tortilla (no auntentico). I wanted to try the french toast (the only menu item that really intrigued me) but I was afraid to have an overly sweet breakfast. Chicken and waffles were a possibility as well..but nothing else on the menu really peaked my interest. This place just needs a slight menu make over!
