Han Sang in Millbrae was our late-night dinner stop, and I'm so glad we made it before their 10 PM closing time. We were seated right away, and the restaurant itself is clean, nice, and spacious. I can imagine it getting packed during peak hours--and honestly, it should. I'm going straight to the point: Han Sang has the best Galbi Jjim I've ever had. I've been to other places (which shall remain unnamed) that proudly claim they have the best Galbi Jjim, but I'm happy to say I've finally found the one. At the same time, I'm a little sad because I live in SoCal, which means I can't just come here whenever the craving hits. This dish checked every box imaginable. The beef was incredibly flavorful, fall-apart tender, and they gave a generous amount of meat. And when I say meat, I mean actual meat--not a pile of bones disguised as a serving. (Yes, that's coming from past restaurant trauma.) You definitely get your money's worth here. The rice cakes were cooked perfectly and soaked up all that rich, savory sauce. Then came the surprise waiting at the bottom: glass noodles. Not the usual thin ones either--these were thicker, chewier, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with flavor. The entire dish was so satisfying it genuinely made me happy. We also ordered the Chadol and Yangji Suyuk, a beef brisket soup that was exactly what we needed on a cold evening. The brisket was tender, and as expected, the broth arrived lightly seasoned so you can adjust it to your liking. After adding a little salt, pepper, and some ssamjang, it became the perfect comforting bowl of soup. Warm, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try their Bossam because the portions were huge and we could barely finish what we ordered. That's not a complaint--if anything, it's the perfect excuse to come back. My friend heard good things about their traditional Korean dishes so we decided to check it out on a Saturday around lunch time. It can get a little busy during lunch hour but we were able to get a table for our party of 2 in around 10 minutes. Their menu had a variety of dishes, most prominent were the assortment of noodle dishes from dry to soupy or spicy. Leek Pancake - This was made so well, it was thin yet crispy and held together well. The leeks gave a subtle flavor and were a little tough to bite through but it tasted so good, especially dipped in the side sauce. Yangji Chadol Sul Long Tang - At first glance, this setup is so nice with the assortment of sides at the top to the different items you can add into the soup. I loved the fish cake side as well as the kimchi which they do give refills of. It was nice being able to add seasoning in the soup to match my taste and so perfect combined all together with the radish side sauce. The meat is pretty generous and soft as well with the thin chewy noodles. Such a healing comforting dish. In addition to the food, the workers were so kind and attentive, always helping us to refill our side dishes when needed. Our meal came with the standard banchan and tea. The bibimbap was served surprisingly cold and didn't leave much of an impression. It was fairly standard overall, though I did appreciate that the gochujang and sesame oil were served separately, allowing diners to adjust the flavor to their preference. The leek pancake was one of the better dishes we tried. It had a nice balance of textures, with a slightly crispy exterior while the leeks remained soft and tender. The galbi tang included jujubes, which is something I don't see very often. However, the soup itself was underwhelming. There were barely any noodles, and the broth had an off-putting flavor that came across as somewhat fishy. The tofu soup was decent but fairly standard and not particularly memorable. I have been a fan of Han Sang as an alternative to Daeho in the past for the Kalbijim. However, this time we decided to try other dishes for lunch. The hubs ordered their soon tofu soup and I order the bibimbap. The food was that flavor wise, it was decent. The bad, and reason for low rating, is due to the portions and lack of ingredients. For $25 per dish, you would expect the same amount of protein, veggies, etc as other restaurants. We were shocked seeing how little beef and other ingredients were in our meals. Literally, the skirt of beef in my bibimbap was less than one spoonful. It was made up by increase amount of veggies either. I know inflation is causing everything to be more expensive, but this feels a bit ridiculous. We'll probably not return, at least not for those items. We ordered the combo short rib/oxtail galbijjim and it was SO good! The regular portion was more than enough for 4 adults (3 females and 1 male). The oxtail was meaty and not too overly fatty. I would definitely come back for this! We also ordered the Kal Kuk Soo and it was super bland (it is supposed to be!), so I wasn't quite up to my taste standards. You are supposed to add your own salt and pepper to it and it comes with a dipping sauce for the meat. I added some of the sauce from the galbijjim to it and it made it so much better. I went around 8pm on a weekday and place was packedddd, but the service was impressive. All of our dishes came out all at one, within 5-10 minutes after ordering. What I had: Yuk hwe (beef tartare with pears and egg yolk): If you're hesitant about raw beef, please don't be. It's honestly just like eating sashimi. Wagyu meat was incredibly tender, sweet, and melted in my mouth. It was mixed with some kind of seasoning sauce and egg yolk, so savory and addictive I couldn't stop. Highly recommend you should try it if you can eat raw food Bossam: Great but I found it a bit too fatty (meat-to-fat ratio was like 50:50 ). My favorite way to eat was wrapping it in lettuce with garlic (extraaa), jalapeno, kimchi, and ssamjang. It also went well with rice. Big bite was super satisfying Galbi tang: Something we ordered to balance things out (2 previous dishes was just heavy), and it was a perfect decision. Solid Korean place, especially for the galbi jjim! Everytime I've walked by here, there is a line, but coming early (around 5:30PM) really does help. There is plenty of parking near downtown millbrae, with a few boba shops as well nearby. We ordered a Galbi Jjim with extra meat and cheese and a Dolsot Bibimbap amongst 4 people. It was more than enough for 4 people. The galbi here definitely is the star of the show with how flavorful it is. Level 1 spicy is perfect for my group due to lower spice tolerance, but honestly level 2 spice is the way to go. The meat was fall off the bone tender, and had multiple pieces that were all really big. They also don't skimp on the cheese, but it does come already torched. The Dolsot Bibimbap was pretty good, but I wish it was purple rice instead of white. They didn't give as much meat, and I probably wouldn't order it again since it was pretty average, especially for $45. If you like the crispy rice on the bottom, there was a lot and very easy to pick off. Service was a little slow and ultimately depends on your waiter. We had to manually ask for the side dishes since they took so long to come out. Oddly enough, they took my order within 5 minutes of sitting down... I wanted to go to Han Sang for the first time after hearing things about their seolleongtang! They're located in downtown Millbrae. I visited with a friend and we both decided to get the chadol versions of it. The presentation was beautiful; lots of banchan on the side, and our food came out pretty quickly too. The soup was milky and comforting; make sure you add extra salt and pepper since it comes unseasoned. They also give you the option of having it with white or purple rice. Came here with some friends who lived in the area, they recommended this place as one of their favorites and said it was similar to Daeho in SF Japan town. And it definitely didn't disappoint! We ordered the galbijjim which was ~$100 and also the beef tartare. First, the beef tartare was a solid 3/5 stars. The meat was fresh and cold. The strips of pear gave it that crisp and sweetness that perfectly cut the richness of the beef and egg yolk. One thing to point out was the beef was kinda frozen. It's not a huge deal and I understand for raw meat/food safety reasons freezing is necessary. But it was just a slightly weird mouthfeel when biting into slightly icy beef. Now onto the gaibijjim which imo was a solid 4/5. the portion itself was HUGE. three very hungry people shared this and we barely got through half of it. The meat was fall off the bone tender and it was full of beefy and savory richness. The cheese was a nice touch but honestly it was a little too much. I think if they just put half the amount of cheese it would have been a better experience. The noodles inside were completely overpowered by the cheese and they all were broken up. This was kinda sad bc I love it when the noodles suck up all the rich gooey sauce. We ordered medium spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. The sauce was rich, savory, and sweet. Overall this is definitely worth ordering and I'll def be back again for this, I would just tell them to put less cheese next time. As for its comparison to daeho, which is one of my favorite spots in SF. I still find daeho to be better, but also feel like it's not a perfect apples to apples comparison, daeho is more of a stew whereas Hansang is not stew, it was more like meat covered in sauce. I personally prefer the stew version but it's not saying hangsang is not good. Either way both are worth trying but think the price at hansang was better value given the huge portion. The place was decently clean and the service was fast. We arrived early at 530pm and snagged a table quickly. the place soon filled up quickly and when we were leaving there was a line. if you don't want to wait I'd suggest getting there early. read more

One of our favorite regular weekly spots to fill our korean food cravings! The broths are made from scratch with not too much processed additives or msg! The ahjumma serving us is always so friendly and cheerful! They are quick, and if you ask they offer to help cut up and de-bone your galbijim for you. I ordered their Yuk Gae Jang, while my wife ordered their Soft Tofu Soup with Beef Ribs and Rice Cake. The Yuk Gae Jang is a spicy beef brisket soup. It comes with glass noodles, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and egg. The flavor for both the Yuk Gae Jang and Tofu Soup had a good flavor. Though I would say the meat amount for the dishes were a bit lackluster for the price. The banchan could use a bit more variety, as it included only kimchi, fish cake, and radish. Their menu had a good variety of dishes, so mayhaps I'll try their other dishes next time. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is within the Broadway main street, so prepare to take some time to look for parking. The interior of the restaurant is simple, but clean. It is quite spacious, with a good amount of seating. The staff were sincere and professional, with good service. Their menu has a variety of selections.
