Not all chains are created equal. Reviews confirmed that and I trusted them enough to travel to the Woodley Park location for the best experience. It did not disappoint. Easy street parking got me inside just before the 2:30pm brunch cutoff. The vibe inside was immediately inviting. Cute trees growing in the center, real or not I was not brave enough to touch them, and well appointed tables throughout. We sat at the bar, ordered a Mai Tai and it arrived quickly. The service set the tone from the moment we sat down. We started with egg drop and hot and sour soup. Egg drop is my go to and I make it a point to try it wherever it appears on the menu. This one is one of the better ones in the area. Served hot and full of flavor. No enhancements needed. Then on to shrimp dumplings, roasted pork bun, and pork dumplings. The pork dumplings were my favorite and the roasted pork bun was my guest's. We could have stopped right there and been happy. One word of advice, the chili oil served on the table is super hot. We did not expect it so be careful when using. It is so good but it will catch you off guard! The shared entrees were the Han Style Peking Duck and Yang Chow Fried Rice. We have had Peking Duck previously at Philippe Chow and this one outperformed it. Served without the tableside theatrics but delivering every bit of the flavor. Goes to show sometimes good meals do not need the pomp and circumstance. Even though I love the thrills. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was not your typical version. The pork was marinated sweeter than anything I have had before and it elevated the whole dish in the best way. If you're going for a more traditional take on fried rice this would not be your go to. We ended with sesame balls served warm. Like a donut but with a not overwhelming sweetness. Filled with something I could not quite identify but it did not matter. A great ending to the meal. The bartender was attentive and reading the room the entire time. The next Mai Tai arrived right as I took the last sip of the first. I could not finish it completely but it was that good. All hands on deck made the food ordering and arrival quick and efficient. One honest note worth sharing. Han's Palace adds 20% gratuity to the menu but the bill comes out prompting you to select a tip again. Easy to miss. I went back in after visiting a spot next door to flag it and the waiter assured me nothing additional was charged even though I selected more. Noble of them. Just something to be mindful of when you go. Han's Palace Woodley Park is a gathering worth coming back to and the perfect starting point for a full day of fun in the surrounding area. Especially if you have family or friends visiting the city.

My friend was in town for a family event and she stayed with me, yay! I was invited to join her for dinner with about six other family members. We took Metro from Silver spring since this restaurant is right across the street from the Woodley Park Metro. We had a large table at the back of the restaurant. Service was great. Very welcoming. We ordered lots of egg rolls and fried rice prior to our main entrees. I had the crispy eggplant. My waitress asked if it was OK that it was sweet and I said sure. And it sure was sweet. It tasted like dessert! That's a good thing in my book. Who doesn't love dessert?! It was the perfect venue to catch up with some of my friend's relatives I haven't seen in ages. Everyone loved their food. My friend ordered the Mongolian beef and there was a couple pieces of beef she didn't eat that I tucked in my take on box for a treat for my pooch. She loved it too!

the bottomless cocktails at this location are STRONG. You won't see the promotion on the menu but once you get to the restaurant, it's on a black sign outside the restaurant. THEY WALK AROUND FILLING YOUR CUP WHEN YOU'RE ALMOST DONE so it feels like you never really finish your first one. The food was good, didn't take long for us to start eating after placing an order. We had the pan-fried dumplings which were delicious, dry beef chow fun and the orange chicken with 2 bowls of white rice for each of us. All the food is honestly made to share here, and we left FULL. they don't take reservations; it's first come first serve on who they seat but they do their best to make sure you're accommodated if they have room for you.

Han Palace Woodley Park is a convenient location for the surrounding area since most traditional Chinese restaurants are near downtown DC or elsewhere. This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants. The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu.

Savory, perfectly cooked noodles. Good texture from the dumplings. Nice setting on the inside makes it feel more upscale than the prices. Fast service. No complaints! We ordered a la carte so next time we'll try the ayce menu. Located steps away from the nearest metro station.

Do not go here! They literally don't cook anything from scratch here. The pan fried chicken and vegetable and pan fried beef and vegetable dumplings are frozen BIBIGO dumplings they just reheated. The scallion pancakes are also store bought and drenched in oil, basically uneatable. I was shocked at how rude the waitress was, when my friends and I ordered our meal or just tried to ask for the bill, she was obviously annoyed. There was a table next to us with small kids that she glared at the whole time and replaced their plates with styrofoam plates... This restaurant is not authentic and there weren't any other asian customers. The menu says salted fish on it and when we asked what kind of fish it was, the waitress said it was a big fish, but then the chef came out and said it was fish SAUCE not real fish. The wontons in my wonton soup were cold in the middle. So disappointed, my group ordered a lot of food and wasn't satisfied with the meal so we ended up going to a different restaurant across the street afterwards.

This is a cute, quaint space with excellent service and quality food. I had time restrictions do the staff advised most times could be served in 10 to 15 minutes. The server was patient with any questions regarding the menu. I ordered the egg rolls and general tso shrimp (not on the menu). If you see something you like but prefer different meat or vegetable preferences they may be able to accommodate you. The egg rolls were standard but the sauce was tastless below par. A generic duck sauce tastes better. Typically places on this scale have a better quality sauce with a nice balanced flavor. The general tso shrimp was a good portion, sizeable shrimp and had a good flavor.

One of the best dim sum places! Drinks are yummy, food is amazing, and now I hear they do an all you can eat option. Obviously I'll have to go back for all you can eat. This is a must stop if you are in the area! Great decor and atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful with what their favorites were!

I had a great lunch here with my friends, exceeded my expectation. The decoration was traditional Chinese, good taste, pleasant and comfortable. We ordered several dim sums and some entrees. They were all good and delicious. I'm most impressed with 5*steamed CHILEAN SEA BASS 清蒸鱈魚: tender and delicious. 4.5*SALT & PEPPER SHRIMP椒盐虾球: very good and not salty at all. Just right. Every dish was good, i ended up eating too much. I had a great experience with here with the outstanding service and food.

Service is great, waitress was amazing, celebrated my brother and I's birthday here! Loved the energy 10/10 will come again. Food was tastey, drinks are good with great happy hour deals too!

I think Han Palace serves its purpose. By that, I mean to say it definitely brings a different version of "Chinese food" to a non-Chinese neighborhood. The food is 100% inauthentically Chinese but it's also not Americanized Chinese food. The taste wasn't bad and the visuals resembled Chinese food! There were lots of curious culinary missteps; so let's dive in! Misstep #1: the salty fish fried rice was WAY too salty and that made the overall taste subpar. But the saving grace of this dish was that every other component works! The eggs, chicken, and scallions were spot on! If this dish just removed the salty fish, then the dish would have been perfect. So why not just drop the salty fish in its entirety? Misstep #2: the steamed chicken feet was too sweet. This dish CAN be sweet but you have to counterbalance the sweetness with other flavors. The dish that I received was, unfortunately, a bit too sweet. Highlight: everything else about the dish was great (nice texture, spot on with the marination, not oily or greasy) Misstep #3: pork ribs were way too oily. When you steam a pork rib, fatty oil will naturally ooze out of the ribs. The restaurant made the mistake of over-marinating the ribs with too much oil. The taste was good minus the oily part. Misstep #4: I didn't even taste the bean curd in the "Bean Curd with Beef Ball." IDK if the bean curd was suppose to come with the dish or go inside of beef balls. Highlight, the beef ball tasted great though. Bright spots; chow fun and gold/purple yolk buns were amazing. Also, four dim sum dishes + a chow fun + a fried rice for $61 (post tax) is nicely priced. The portions were also fair for the price and location. The service was superb. The staff members were attentive and warm. So to summarize: taste was inconsistent, service was great, and one can expect to eat food that looks like Chinese food but is actually disguised as some other food. Overall, 2.5/5 bumped up to a 3/5.

Ask the Community - Han Palace

Is there parking?

There isn't parking, and street parking is awful. I would say downright scary. You can park with your flasher on for a moment to run in and grab your food.

Do they offer all you can eat dim sum at this location, and if so do you know how much?

No, they only offer AYCE at the Georgetown location!

Do they do cart service here?

I don't think they offer cart service here as space is limited. When we went, we ordered everything a la carte. Super fresh and delicious dim sum!

How much is the the all you can eat?

I think it's $40 and only at the Barracks Row location

Do they take reservations?

I don’t think they take reservations on Sunday dim sum. First come first serve

How long does brunch last on the weekends?

Not sure, possibly till 2pm. Is best to call them first

Are there gluten free options?

Yes.

Do they serve dim sum all day?

Yes!!! All day menu

Do they sell beer and alcohol?

Yes!

To make matters worse, we were rushed out and told that we needed to leave because the restaurant was closing. What was especially uncomfortable was seeing other customers upstairs who were still eating, ordering food, and being loud. When we asked why they were allowed to stay while we were being asked to leave, the owner told us that they were "special customers." That comment was extremely off-putting and left us feeling as though we were being treated as less important or less welcome. The only positive part of the experience was our waiter, who was polite and pleasant despite the situation.
