Small, lowkey & nothing fancy but packs a mighty punch on their dishes! Hidden, in the basement of a chinatown business front...is New Big Wong. It's been around in downtown DC like forever! Be careful when driving are looking for this place because .... one blank of an eye while driving down the H Street Chinatown area, you might miss it. It's just that in assuming... especially at night. lol. The food is delicious and the prices are very good. The portions are big here too..... not to mention the meats & vegetables used are always fresh. My go to and one dish that is always on realest and that this restaurant is famous for is the "Dry Scallop Fried Rice" dish! It's one of the best. It comes in one size and is loaded with shrimp scallops crab meat ....& lot of flavor! The Peking Duck dish is another favorite of mine from this restaurant as well. On any given day, you will find the restaurant pretty crowded which is a good sign, but both carryout and dine in available if ever in the area. This restaurant tends to get a lot of Uber eats DoorDash orders I noticed as well. I definitely recommend if you're looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine and good Hong Kong fare..... that is on an American-Asian carryout vibe ..... This is your place! Most meals are roughly around $15 to $20 and the servings are huge. Worth every penny.... Go here and thank me later!

Excellent service and very good Chinese food. They open late night so that a plus. Staff is quick and friendly. The eh don't take no bs though. Come eat and pay. Lots of party people late night enjoying their Chinese food. Big menu and cozy place. Their soy sauce chowmein is the best. I like the crispiness texture. We came here twice during our trip to DC. Late night of course. Come hungry, leave happy. One of the few places open late and is authentic.

Perfect late night spot! Came in after a concert and ordered the lo mein, fried rice, and general tsos chicken- everything hit the spot.

Do not sleep on the noodle soups. The portion was incredibly generous and diverse in their seafoods. I got gigantic scallops and just poached shrimp. This was a takeout order, but the noodles were just par cooked so that by the time it reached me they were still separated and bouncy. They did not skimp on the bok choy so it felt super healing to have in the colder months. And the broth was golden, clear, and incredibly umami. The delicate seafood flavor really carries this dish, and the fragrance of the white pepper really shines through. I love a classic noodle soup like this. When its this well executed, its hard to come by in DC.

I was in DC with my wife for her conference. I was craving late night american style chinese food. I stumbled upon this place and it marked all the check boxes. The fried rice had plenty of scallop strands and shrimp, the beef chow fun had plently of wok hei, and the hot and sour soup was hot and sour. The mu shu chicken was really salty. Everything must have had tablespoons if msg, because I drank gallons of water when I got home, but it stands for make stuff good. It's not the best, it's not the worst. The lady there checked on us frequently. I don't know why DC chinese food is so expensive. It was like $20 a dish. That would be like 12-16 on the west coast. But whatever.

Ok there is no utensils!! So what are we going to eat it with? Hands?? Order here through door dash. The food is not even good. The portion is too small for 20 bucks entry. No soy sauce or chili on the Steamed or Pan Fried Meat Dumpling the Wonton & Noodle Soup Hong Kong Style | 云吞面 has 4 wontons with 1 cup of soup. The Sautéed Snow Peas Leafs with Garlic 大蒜豆苗 does not taste anything and it cause 20 bucks!! Come on now!! What is this? Will not order here when I visit DC again!!

Warning: Egg roll has shrimp & meat in it!!!! There wasn't an explanation on the menu, so I assumed it was veggie egg roll, but I was wrong. Orange chicken was delicious though!

Everything was beautiful. The restaurant was very busy (for obvious reasons). Can't wait to eat here again!

Really great old Chinese place that a lot of locals really love. Highly recommend the Peking duck and wonton soup.

My friend is craving dim sum after being in the country, visiting from Hong Kong for 3 weeks. My friend is quite tan, his mom is Filipino, but he grew up in HK and speaks mostly canto and Tagalog. We tried speaking Cantonese to the staff who are speaking it to each other, so they clearly can. My friend has perfect Cantonese. Mine is ok but I am also very clearly Chinese. They replied in broken English instead. One waitress looked at my friend and handed us forks. So clearly, some racism/colorism in the staff. Context: lots of Filipinos in HK are maids and generally looked down on, so not surprised this happened here. The food was mushy and gross. The shrimp in the cheung fan was grayish. It felt like they had this ready early in the morning and reheated it for later. Siu mai was falling apart. Cha siu bao was good but how do you mess that one up? I've gotten take out from this place before in the past and I always forget why I try to not come here, they forget something every time. At this point I'm sure they're doing it on purpose, like little thieves. Anyway, this place has the advantage of being close, with so little dim sum options in the area, unless you want to make the trip to Tysons or Vienna. Or Maryland. One staff member was laying down on a bunch of chairs nearby loudly watching something on her phone. Any other day, I wouldn't complain about that, everyone deserves a break. But given the food quality and the clear racism in the staff, they should be called out for everything. As with any Asian restaurant, feel free to treat me like trash if the food is good. But this place fails in both places.

Han Palace is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and there are two main reasons why:…read morethe portions and the drinks. First, the food portions here are astronomical. I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot.

This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants. The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu.
