    Restaurant week lemon cello cake
    Teresa B.

Since my husband's birthday was also around restaurant week we decided to choose the Hamrock restaurant to celebrate. I am so happy with the choice. They were so warm and welcoming in this beautiful colonial house turned into a restaurant. Our server was incredible very professional and the hostess gave us personalized menus that said "happy birthday" at the very top. My husband thought it was the birthday of the restaurant so he went around looking for another menu to see if it really was personalized. The food was in incredible. From what I understand risotto is not easy to make. The chef who created this risotto is incredibly talented because it was creamy flavorful and delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal so much that they took part of it home so that they can enjoy it again today I don't have that kind of control. Neither did my husband. The dessert was delicious too. Lemon cello cake light fluffy not too sweet. Thank you once again for an incredible experience. Whoever the owner is of this restaurant should be very proud of their staff

Food was fantastic and the staff was great!. We had the pork schnitzel with fingerling potatoes, the sea scallops with potatoes and broccoli and the shrimp stuffed with crab. All of them were fantastic for dessert. We had the lemon Jell-O cake and the vanilla bread pudding with blackberry, chocolate chip ice cream!

Came here on both Sunday and Saturday and had such varies experience. When I was here on Saturday for the first time might I add, I had the best time for brunch! We were quickly served & checked on & food came out fairly quick. I enjoyed the complimentary bread that was provided & the corn bread mini muffins were my favorite. I ordered the open taco omelet and very much enjoyed it. 10/10! I thought the taco shell bowl to hold the guac was such a cute idea & the sauces on top added so much flavor to the dish! Now... when I came back on Sunday for brunch (24 hours later) this experience completely changed. My friend & I were seated but after 30 mins went by we were never waited on. I had to ask the hostess where our waitress or waiter was and she had to go check. Someone did come out shortly after and said that she was not our original waitress and did not know where they are but she could help with the ordering (yay!). I decided to try the brunch bowl this time and the food was missing the sausage that came with the meal. By this time I was starving by the time the food came so I decided not to say anything. The brunch bowl was very plain & lack flavor. This was not my favorite and I barely ate it. The 2 broccoli was such a random addition to the meal & was not stated on the menu lol Overall this place is a hit or miss depending on the day you come & the food you get in my opinion. Going from such a great experience to 24 hours later such a bad experience was not what I was expecting at all.

Decided to have dinner at Hamrock's during Restaurant Week in Fairfax. Their lobster bisque was outstanding! The crab cakes were on the crispy side, but tasted great, the remoulade sauce paired excellently with them. Their lemoncello cake was the perfect ending to a great dinner. Looking forward to my next visit.

The ambience and facility is cozy...it was cold night and wish the fireplace was working. Had some adult beverage to start and some brussel sprouts as Appetizer. Very nice. No Old Fashion, hard liquor? Our server was kind and punctual, however she did not have answers to our questions regarding menu. And she did not try and find the answers. I dont know is not acceptable to me. The food was delish. My wife had the Baked Shrimp, which was 4 nice size crab cakes with a shrimp inside. Sounded weird, but was amazeballs! I had the Shrimp Provencal, wow the shrimp and lemony sauce was simply amazing sitting on top of risotto. Nice work chef! If the server would have answered several of our menu questions and specific dish questions, would've been 4 **** review. Maybe a bad day for the server? Our first time here. We will be back.

I have a thing for house-restaurants. Something about it gives me an extra cozy feel. Friendly staff but service was progressively slower as more customers showed up. The bread basket is a must try. I didn't think the caprese salad shrimp with risotto were extraordinary but my husband enjoyed his shrimp crab cakes. We had the three-course menu for $40 each.

Visited this restaurant last night for the first time in several years. Service is friendly and prompt. The ambiance it really nice being in an old house. Noise was a bit of an issue once the place started to fill up, they could do a little more work dampening the sound. This is a great restaurant if you eat gluten free. So many options!!! Food is really delicious. The $40 3 course menu is a really good deal. I had the salad, my husband had the lobster bisque and it was really good. For mains he had a chicken dish and I had the crab/shrimp cakes. I was initially skeptical because I'm a crab cake purist but I was pleased. Taste was great and the potatoes they serve on the side are to die for. Chocolate cake for dessert was divine. It doesn't seem like they do a lot of cocktails there, just beer and wine. One of the tables nearby seemed to be a bit fussy about it. Their wine list was great and I didn't feel like I was missing out with there being plenty of choices.

For my birthday, I wanted to try a restaurant in Old Town Fairfax. We picked Hamrock's for their cute interior and exteriors and unique dining experiences (reminded us of Ms Mary Boo Boos in Lynchburg). We both ordered from the three course dinner - which included an appetizer for each of us, entrees and two desserts. We really enjoyed the lobster bisque soup and the salmon deviled eggs. The deviled eggs had a surprisingly spicy kick to them. Our favorite part though - the bread. Absolutely delicious. The lamb chops ordered were on the small side - limited meat and a bit of fat. The lobster and crab ravioli was 10/10! We had hoped for the s'mores cake dessert but there were all out (we went early!). We settled for the chocolate cake and limoncello cake and enjoyed it. Our server was friendly and considerate. It can get a bit loud in the restaurant as they had many tables in the front room.

This is the best restaurant in N.Va. Food - 10, Service - 10, Wine Pairings- 10, Front of the House…read more- 10, Ambience - 10, Value - 10, Execution - 10. Wife and I sat at the Chef's Counter for a truly wonderful meal last night. The menu is exceptional, five courses, several with two options, and the progression was just perfect. We really loved all of the dishes, but for sure the ravioli with wild asparagus and ramps is one I will remember for a long time. The octopus was also a memorable dish, and the poussin was complex, layer after layer of flavor and the salt level was so good...just perfect food, perfectly executed. Oh, and shout out to the owner's dad, who is in his 90s and makes the bread, a rich sourdough, served warm, that has a 50 year old starter at its essence. Yum. We did the wine pairings and I def recommend. Some really good wines, curated from small vineyards globally, matched perfectly and well presented. The sommelier nailed it. We also just loved the service. Nice touches pre arrival, they are expecting you when you arrive and there's a lovely personal touch and welcoming feel. The ambience is warm, and you can hear and talk and it does feel like you're at a dinner party with friends and family. Finally, shout out to the chefs and servers. Knowledgable, conversational, and charming. We really enjoyed the Chef's Counter and the entire experience. Kudos to Chef Jon Krinn and his family for creating this masterpiece of a restaurant. It is Michelin star worthy, and we cannot wait to go back.

Hats off to the incredible team at Elyse. I mean every experience we have had there has been…read moretop-notch and I can't believe I haven't reviewed them once yet! I mean shame on them because they deserve some seriously high praise. And honestly, they pulled out all the stops for their recent New Years Eve dining experience - I'm talking caviar, white truffle, A5 wagyu, a custom cocktail (because they know I like gin and yuzu) and a painfully decadent dessert - What a way to send out 2025! I mean, honestly, the meal was exquisite and so perfectly executed. Each dish is crafted with a passion and care for food that absolutely shines. I mean the Foie Gras (sp??) - I don't even really like the stuff, put the way they sauteed it, put it on top of some sort of savory cake and slathered it with this balsamic gastrique - it was like bacon and pancakes smothered in maple syrup just amplified to 100. Bottom line: I would eat this every day (and amplify my weight by 100 too). The snow crab, I don't know if it's the care in selecting the product or the techniques used to prepare it (probably both ), but they packed so much crab flavor into that dish! And the dark chocolate cheesecake, it was magic that can make something so dark, so bold, so rich feel so light when you are eating it. This was just one specific meal here, but I am surprised and delighted every time we get the privilege to dine at Elyse. It's not just the food, it's the atmosphere and the attention of the staff. They remember details from your previous visits, any special notes from your reservation and really tailor the experience to you, making it all that much more special on your special night out
