Cockroaches in the room woke me up at 1am

I was awoken to cockroaches flying and crawling around at 1am- which was terrible experience. When I packed up and went to the first floor to inform the front desk and ask for help in changing rooms, the front desk representative was surprisingly rude and immediately said "it's all booked up, even around in the other hotels" for some conferences and conventions right now. I asked her to at least call around to confirm if everything was in fact booked. The security guards with her listened to our interaction. One of them was laughing and when I said that I didn't think this was a funny situation, she was offended- to the point that I had to apologize. It's absolutely ridiculous. I asked to wait in the lobby till the morning- since it was 130am and in Baltimore so leaving to go nowhere is not a realistic plan. They all said no. So I had no choice but to wait it out in my room and obviously not get rest for the night. She then later called the room phone and asked me to come back down because she needed to "explain things" to me. I was afraid of another bad interaction, and asked her to just tell me on the phone. She said that the manager in the morning would review and hopefully refund and that the Holiday Inn "down the street" had availability. I google where the hotel was- a 23 minute walk (at 2am in downtown Baltimore). I had to stay with another traveler attending the conference I flew in to attend here because there simply was no good option for what to do. In the future, compassion would be the best approach for unhappy paying customers in bad situations like being provided a room with bugs. The interaction with the front desk was worse than what I could have imagined or expected in this stay- which is surprising because the day check in staff was polite and friendly.

Empty oatmeal with plenty of guests to serve ? Why not have an extra batch ready to go ?

The room itself was fine however a little attention to detail around the morning breakfast offerings is needed. Breakfast ends at 10 am but when I arrived at about 9:30 their waffle device was in a sorry state and unplugged ( unplugged next day also ), juice dispenser was out of order, just seems so simple to repair or replace equipment that I cannot understand or accept this level of attention. Valet pickup with about 20 minutes of waiting, fairly expensive at $45 per day for valet as well. I believe there are better options and don't expect to return here.

Hampton Inn Baltmore-DT-Convention Center surprise room guest

I thought this was an upstanding place, suitable for business travel for a Hilton Honors member. Wrong! Worst experience I've ever had in over 20 years of professional business travel. Pre-paid for three nights July 10-13 at Hampton Inn & Suites Baltimore-DT-Convention Center through 3rd party (Hotel Engine). Paid in full three months prior to stay. Check in first night uneventful. After returning from full first day of business the next day, however, I was unable to access my room. Hotel staff told me the batteries were dead in the electronic door lock and they "needed to run to the store to get new ones." Hotel Engine called front desk staff while I was there to prove that I had paid for the room, but staff refused to grant me access. Long story short: after waiting in the noisy lobby for 3 HOURS dodging the hordes of incoming drunk baseball fans returning from the game, hotel told me I was recorded as a no-show and was locked out of my room. They then presented me with my suitcase that they had been storing behind the check in desk. They had involuntarily ejected me from the room for which I had full right to occupy, and hastily packed my possessions into the suitcase without my oversight or permission. Some clothes and possessions were not returned. Instead, they tried to shake me down by forcing me to PAY AGAIN for another room. By then, it was after midnight, I had work the next day, and my rental car was not accessible. I knew that hotel rooms were sold out in the area, and after watching a street gang motorcycle takeover two blocks over, I was not in a position or mood to explore alternatives. The only "upside" with the 3 hours of wasted time in the lobby was listening other guests complain to the front desk about all the other problems that beset the hotel, like "what appears to be a turd on the bottom of the pool" and "the biggest cockroach I've ever seen in my room" (I couldn't resist getting a picture of the squashed superbug that the guest left outside their room. I'll try to attach that picture to Yelp). Hotel ended up refunding me for the second and completely unjustified charge and promised to refund the first prepaid amount, but General Manager (C.W.) ultimately lied about that. Current status is that I'm out the cost of three nights, despite the unbelievable and unacceptable experience. Hotel Engine was a useless advocate, and the corporate customer support clowns at Hilton said they "couldn't refund money," but offered me some useless Hilton Honors points...enough to get me maybe 25% off one night in the future. So much for Hampton Inn's "100% Hampton Guarantee."

The Hampton Inn Baltimore is very hotel that steps away from Oriole Park and The "Charm'tastic Mile". The rooms are spacious with great views of the stadium. It's also minutes away from Ravens Stadium. The Convention Center is also within steps. The hotel is great for smaller groups, families and individual travelers.

Great location, next to the Harbor. Within walking distance to many restaurants, the aquarium, Babe Ruth museum, etc. The hotel felt clean. They have valet if you are driving and will leave your car close to the door if you have an early start in the morning. The employees are nice. It does seem short staffed, however the employees there do their best. The offer a continental breakfast in the morning, hot cocoa, tea and coffee in the evening is available. I will stay here again in the future when I am here for work again.

Between the convention center and Camden Yards is a baseball themed hotel. Hampton In. Is comfortable and convenient.

Overall we had a decent experience but... Cons: The room had a very musty odor. I don't normally have allergies but my sinuses became congested within an hour of being in the room. The air conditioner filters and air vent in the bathroom were FILTHY. The upholstery on the arm chair has a stain on it. I intended to use the indoor pool but it is no longer open. They should state that on the website instead of highlighting it as a hotel amenity. Lastly the water from the sink and tub had no cold water - only hot or warm options. Pros: Staff were friendly, sincere, professional, and helpful. Coffee and fresh fruit is available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel is within walking distance to stadium and UMMC.

This hotel checked nearly all the boxes for my needs: inexpensive room ($87 for Hilton Honors members), comfy bed, hot shower with decent pressure, free hot breakfast, WiFi internet, television with adequate channels. The 24-hour business center includes a computer and printer, which cane in handy. Valet service is required and pricey ($38), but that is about the same everywhere in downtown Baltimore. I recommend Uber. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but Pickles Pub is right next door. The hotel also has a small "market" with snacks, drinks (including beer), and frozen items you can heat in the in-room microwave or chill in the in-room fridge. The hotel is extremely close to many Baltimore attractions, including Camden Yards, M&T Stadium, and the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). There is no hotel shuttle service, but I've been told the front desk can call a free shuttle from UMMC to pick you up. Otherwise, I recommend Uber. While other reviewers have complained about service and cleanliness, I've not had an issue with either during my two stays. On the contrary, I've found the front desk folks to be very polite and welcoming and the cleanliness to be fine.

We were assigned a room on the same floor as the lobby, just past the fitness center. From the outside it was as if we were on the second floor. Our single bed was quite wide, the ceiling above the bed was very high, but the bathroom was small, had no spare toilet paper, and only two hooks to hang anything, which made it tough to hang clean clothing and towels to dry for two guests who do not share towels. Speaking of which, towels provided were limited, so when I found a stain on my bath towel and requested a fresh one, they brought me a whole set. After our time here I saw a video by theholdernessfamily mentioning hotel bathrooms with barn doors that don't close tightly. I didn't realize that was a thing. But it proved true here! Also clear glass shower doors which make it impossible to share the bathroom with a gal pal while someone is showering. Our across the hall neighbor was loud. It was as if there was an open house party each night from about 10:30pm to 11:45pm with all the loud comings and goings. Their 24 hour gym had a water fountain. We booked a reservation for 4 nights and chose to pay the premium price for this hotel due to the beautiful restaurant onsite and the location. We were excited for our stay. When we arrived we learned they were under construction. There was no food onsite for the duration of our stay - which was 1) not communicated ahead of the stay and 2) very inconvenient for my husband who was working all day from the hotel and would have preferred to take short lunch breaks at the onsite restaurant. This was half the reason for us booking. If that was the extent of it, I would've chalked it up as just bad communication and taken the loss. However, When we arrived they were actively painting the ceiling by the elevators and in order to reach our room, we had to step on the drop cloth covered in paint and navigate past the men on ladders. I got paint on my shoes and paint dripped on my arm on the way to elevator. We stayed on floor 10 and the entire floor had been recently painted and the walls were lined with plastic. I'm pregnant and the paint fumes were overwhelming and gave me a headache to the point where I ended up staying with a friend locally while my husband stayed at our hotel. The banging went on night and day and it made his working experience very tough as well. This absolutely should have been communicated as this environment was dangerous for a pregnant woman and just very uncomfortable for folks in general. I'm really disappointed in Hilton and I would never recommend this hotel to a friend due to the high price and terrible communication and unwillingness to shut down for renovations and instead inconvenience your guests.

It proved to be an excellent base for a short family getaway. The Positives: 1) Room Setup: We appreciated having two queen beds, which worked perfectly for a family of three. Both beds were comfortable, and the room layout felt functional rather than cramped. 2) Location: The hotel's proximity to major attractions was ideal. On our first full day, we walked about 10 minutes along the waterfront to the National Aquarium, which made for an easy and pleasant outing. The next day, we made a similarly short walk to the Port Discovery Children's Museum (formerly known as the Children's Discovery Center). In both instances, being able to walk back and forth without relying on transportation made the trip significantly smoother with a young child. 3) Staff and Service: The staff were consistently helpful. The concierge lounge attendants were friendly, and the front desk team handled check-in and check-out efficiently. On our departure day, we were able to store our luggage seamlessly after checking out, which allowed us to enjoy a few more hours in the area without feeling encumbered. 4) Elevators: This may seem like a small operational detail, but it mattered. We were on the 21st floor, and the concierge lounge is on the 31st. Because there is no direct elevator connection between those floors, we frequently had to ride down to the lobby and transfer elevators. Despite this added movement, the elevators were consistently quick and efficient. We never found ourselves waiting long, even during busier periods--a notable plus in a large waterfront hotel. 5) Concierge Lounge: The lounge was a real asset, particularly on our first evening. After traveling, it was convenient to piece together a full dinner from the generous spread available there. The following morning was more uneven--they ran out of food earlier than expected due to heavier foot traffic--but this appeared to be more of a planning miscalculation than neglect. Overall, having access to the lounge added meaningful value to our stay. (Lounge access is limited to Marriott Bonvoy members with elite status, which fortunately my wife has because of her frequent travels.) 6) Breakfast Buffet: We opted for the breakfast buffet on our final morning. At $32 per person, it is undeniably expensive. That said, the quality and variety justified the price. The offerings were extensive: oatmeal, grits, pork and chicken sausage, bacon, home fries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, made-to-order omelets and waffles, juices, coffee, and more. It was a comprehensive, well-executed American breakfast spread. Overall: For a short family trip to Baltimore, the Marriott Waterfront struck the right balance between comfort, convenience, and service. The location alone makes it highly attractive for families planning to explore the Inner Harbor area, and the operational execution--from elevators to luggage storage--was smooth. We would gladly consider staying here again on a future visit.
