These particular friends are vegetarian, so I happily joined in our all-vegetarian family-style order of most of the veggie curries in non-overlapping permutations, some samosas, and some extra crispy naan (I always order my naan extra crispy and specify that it come out fresh with the meal, not 15mins before the entrées come out - a fairly common timing pet peeve...) Pleasantly surprised by the somewhat reasonable pricing, considering its Midtown address. I think the pricing is smart though - ultimately locals will order delivery and pickup more often and in bigger quantities if they feel like they're getting a decent value. We tried the paneer-masala variety and enjoyed the filling, although the dosai itself seemed like it had been rushed off the grill with a pretty pale color. We also tried the South India thali. I quite liked the kuzhumbu which had a lovely imli flavor. The poriyal was rather dry, and the kesari/sheera could have used more ghee. Not a bad option in west Midtown, but I would not necessarily go out of your way to visit.
