I hired Color Interiors (CI) to install Karndean Art Select LVP throughout house I bought this…read moresummer. Karndean's Art Select is an excellent product that looks like real wood, but improper installation can result in warping, plank separation, waves and bulging, making it look cheap. Original quotes I got for engineered hardwood and for LVP were both right at $17,000, so price wasn't a factor. When I was trying to decide between engineered hardwood and Karndean's Art Select LVP, I explicitly told the salesman that my main concern about LVP was that the installation wouldn't be done correctly. CI salesman repeatedly assured me that he would stay on top of the job to make sure it was installed according to manufacturer's instructions, but once he got my deposit, ~$4,200 of which was non-refundable, he didn't follow through on anything. I had to remind him 1/2 a dozen times about needing to order shoe molding and he didn't check in with the installers once to make sure they were following the manufacturer's installation instructions. Most importantly, they didn't perform a moisture test on the concrete subfloor, or use a 100 lb roller while the planks were being laid down to make sure the adhesive was spread evenly under the LVP. According to Karndean, failure to do these things voids the warranty. In addition to the shoddy installation, the installers were so careless and sloppy that they got greasy handprints all over the walls I had just paid $4,900 to have painted a week earlier. And not only did I have to clean their greasy handprints off of the walls, I also spent 8 hours on my knees washing glue and other messes off of the LVP after they "finished" the installation. When I walk into the foyer of my new house, my eyes are immediately drawn to two areas where the flooring is wavy/bulging and I cannot express how angry I get when I think about this. To remedy the situation, that floor is going to need to be ripped out and a new floor will have to be installed. That would have been bad enough before I moved in, but now that I have furniture in the house, I honestly don't even want to think about what an enormous pain this is going to be. Not to mention the fact that I will also need to have the baseboards repainted, which I had painted a couple of days after the floor was installed (cost was ~$2,300). To add insult to injury, Color Interiors invoiced me an additional $1,800 for floor prep. The purpose of the floor prep was to make sure that any imperfections in the concrete subfloor were covered over and to make the surface completely level. Honestly, if they had installed the flooring correctly and it didn't have waves and bulges in it, paying extra to make sure everything was done right wouldn't bother me. The fact that they had the gall to invoice me $1,800 more than they quoted after doing such shoddy work, however, is infuriating.

The installers showed up unannounced a day early, mid-day, when we weren't expecting them. Jason had told us it would take two full 8-hour days to complete the job, but the crew rushed through it in about 6 hours total. The results clearly show it. The craftsmanship was poor-trim work was rough, and they even installed wood boards with chips and damage already on them. Since then, it's been a frustrating and exhausting process just trying to get someone to come fix it under warranty. Repeated attempts to reach Jason were mostly ignored. When he did respond, he gave excuses and never followed through. We finally got in touch with customer service, who scheduled the warranty repair weeks out. The first set of workers once again showed up without notice when no one was home. They couldn't reschedule and left. We had to contact customer service again to rebook another repair appointment. Today, the second set of workers showed up --again with no warning-and came without any of the needed materials to fix the chipped boards, damaged trim, or transition pieces. So now we're over a month past installation, and we still have messed-up floors with no clear timeline for repair. This has been one of the most frustrating home improvement experiences we've ever had. I wouldn't recommend Floors for Living to anyone.

At the time we were unsure of whom to trust with the BIG project we had in mind so after hours of searching and reviewing different companies, John Tatom the store manager of LoneStar Floors was at the top of everyone's Google search! When we gave him a call he was very professional and passionate about what he had to offer. The service was great, the work is top quality, and the product selection was enormous! The first step was to have the house quoted for the floors, bathroom, and kitchen installed. We were under the impression that someone other than John was to come out and measure and give us a price quote but instead it was John himself, he was on time and very informative about our options of what we could do to our home. After everything was planned out, the construction on our house only took up 5 days and a day to double check everything! I would like to give a special thanks to, Romeo, Juan, Jerry and their whole crew; everyone was very polite and very respectful of all my personal items. Keeping constant conversation helped me understand how everything was installed and placed. They even spot cleaned and placed all my items back to their original spot! The only hiccup I had was that one of my outlets does not work in my kitchen, other than that, the work they performed was extremely professional. I would like to give a BIG thanks to Lonestar Floors for working with me and my budget and keeping continuous communication with me after each of section of updates was completed. I will forever be a customer and always mention his name and Lonestar Floors if someone asks. I look forward to doing business again in the near future! Thanks again, One happy customer! A.P

Juan and the rest of the crew who installed the flooring were great! They were professional, quick and gave attention to detail. The pricing was the best I found after getting a few quotes from different stores. We will likely use them again for our flooring needs. We also purchased baseboards from Lone Star, after shopping around, because they had the best price for that as well.

Ended up working with John (Who has tons of experience in this industry as we have been told.) My wife fell in love with the Karndean Vinyl plank. John came to the property for measurements and to give an inspection for the job. We were told we would need to use self leveling concrete to get the entire area level. Its an old house with an old slab, we were ok with that. John saw the state of the floor, and the issues with the slab at that point. Install came and went. Fast forward to 2020 when we started noticing places where the flooring was beginning to raise up at the seams. I reached out to get someone here to take a look. no one was available due to Covid, I understood that. Last month we realized we still hadn't heard from anyone so I called back. I Happened to get John (The original sales guy), i explained the issues. Without skipping a beat, he told me its probably Alkali seeping up from the foundation, and that he sees this Often. He set a time to come over a couple days later and confirmed this was the case. He told me with the old slabs that didn't have a vapor barrier this is a common issue. I asked him how it can be avoided, and he said the only way was to use a floating flooring instead of a direct glue-down product. I asked him why this wasn't mentioned before we purchased the flooring and install, he said it was because those products are new. (I know this is not true.) He told me none of this was covered under warranty because the flooring is fine, my slab and the product choice is the issue. After this meeting I called to get ahold of the owner Justin Holliday. After a week, I got a call back. After walking through the entire issue and previous conversation with John, Justin advised me that if they noticed issues when they were inspecting, they would have advised against the flooring. Justin essentially told me to kick rocks, they weren't responsible. I WAS told they would be happy to sell me new planks, get people out here to clear the Alkali and re-install where needed. But I would have this issue again in 3-5 years. After doing research on Alkali and flooring, I can say without a bit of reservation that John did know that I had an Alkali problem. I was in the process of removing Carpeting in the areas that were being re-floored. John was there to see the white powder on the concrete in patches (Alkali). The fact that we spent so much on this flooring that looks terrible is sickening. The entire issue could have been avoided with some direction and recommendations by an "Expert". Sadly, I think they were just after a sale of a high end product. After they have your money, you are on your own folks. Buyers Beware. Justin and John are bad business.

We thought it would come up with mopping. It didn't. We asked Stylish if they had a cleaner that would work. They came out, saw the problem, applied the cleaner, and it didn't work. They then sent another guy who attempted to tell me that I had mopped it with something that caused it. That should have been the point when I realized they were not going to stand behind the product. Our builder used a professional cleaning company that tried twice to clean it. No luck. It wasn't dirt or dust, so cleaning wasn't helping. The manufacturer, Shaw, sent out an inspector (whom they hired). Two guesses as to what the Shaw inspection showed. Basically, report was unknown origin of problem, but didn't appear to be a Shaw manufacturing defect. Shocker! Stylish has since gone silent with our builder who is making requests on our behalf, for the time being. Bottom line is as soon as Stylish determined that a problem that no less than three Stylish employees recognized might require replacement, they bailed and want to wash their hands of the situation. Stay away from this place. Will not stand behind their products.
