I hired Color Interiors (CI) to install Karndean Art Select LVP throughout house I bought this…read moresummer. Karndean's Art Select is an excellent product that looks like real wood, but improper installation can result in warping, plank separation, waves and bulging, making it look cheap. Original quotes I got for engineered hardwood and for LVP were both right at $17,000, so price wasn't a factor. When I was trying to decide between engineered hardwood and Karndean's Art Select LVP, I explicitly told the salesman that my main concern about LVP was that the installation wouldn't be done correctly. CI salesman repeatedly assured me that he would stay on top of the job to make sure it was installed according to manufacturer's instructions, but once he got my deposit, ~$4,200 of which was non-refundable, he didn't follow through on anything. I had to remind him 1/2 a dozen times about needing to order shoe molding and he didn't check in with the installers once to make sure they were following the manufacturer's installation instructions. Most importantly, they didn't perform a moisture test on the concrete subfloor, or use a 100 lb roller while the planks were being laid down to make sure the adhesive was spread evenly under the LVP. According to Karndean, failure to do these things voids the warranty. In addition to the shoddy installation, the installers were so careless and sloppy that they got greasy handprints all over the walls I had just paid $4,900 to have painted a week earlier. And not only did I have to clean their greasy handprints off of the walls, I also spent 8 hours on my knees washing glue and other messes off of the LVP after they "finished" the installation. When I walk into the foyer of my new house, my eyes are immediately drawn to two areas where the flooring is wavy/bulging and I cannot express how angry I get when I think about this. To remedy the situation, that floor is going to need to be ripped out and a new floor will have to be installed. That would have been bad enough before I moved in, but now that I have furniture in the house, I honestly don't even want to think about what an enormous pain this is going to be. Not to mention the fact that I will also need to have the baseboards repainted, which I had painted a couple of days after the floor was installed (cost was ~$2,300). To add insult to injury, Color Interiors invoiced me an additional $1,800 for floor prep. The purpose of the floor prep was to make sure that any imperfections in the concrete subfloor were covered over and to make the surface completely level. Honestly, if they had installed the flooring correctly and it didn't have waves and bulges in it, paying extra to make sure everything was done right wouldn't bother me. The fact that they had the gall to invoice me $1,800 more than they quoted after doing such shoddy work, however, is infuriating.

The carpet is a commodity but John gave very honest pricing. What really matters are the installers. If you carefully review the other stores you see their contracted installers are who disappoint. Not at Lone Star. John's installers have been with him for 15 years so they are really good. The installers are who really matter on your finished product. I also needed float and his crew was great. They got the entire upstairs done in a day. They move all your furniture and move it back at no extra cost. Which is really great!

We have an old gas fireplace and to start it the front screen and a trim piece have to be removed. They offered to install a remote starter which they did. Now I can light it without removing the screen and it works like a charm. I'm sorry I don't recall their names but the two guys were very professional and friendly and I highly recommend this company if you need work done on your fireplace.

Primo was quick to respond to our initial request and provided a detailed and professional construction plan along with a 3-dimensional model of what the finished project would look like. Kevin and his team were able to quickly answer any questions that we had and provided a quotation within 2 days. Primo handled all the inspections and permits required for the Woodlands Association approval. Primo built a new 500 sqft gabled patio with a 7' wide wood burning (gas light assist) fireplace along with sitting benches on each side. The fireplace, benches and supporting posts are finished in natural stone veneer with a "dry stack" installation. The floor was constructed with Belgard Origins pavers in a Crab Orchard color. The ceiling was finished with a cedar tongue and groove finish along with a pony wall and cedar collar ties. To finish the project, Primo also installed new cedar fencing in the back yard. We are 100% completely satisfied with the workmanship and responsiveness of Primo Outdoor Living. They finished the project on time and were completely transparent with all aspects of the construction. In our opinion, Primo has an outstanding team that completed the project as agreed on. Kevin (owner) was at our site every morning to answer our questions and oversee the construction progress. The Primo construction crew were dependable and arrived early every morning. They did not require any micromanagement whatsoever. David, Juan, Jaime, Chealbi and the rest of the Primo staff are outstanding, easy to work with and can be counted on to do the right thing.
