My expectations were exceeded. The owner (I assume whom I spoke with on the phone) and his son made the food super quick... like less than 10 minutes. They were both so welcoming and cheerful, funny too! I was offered a free sample of soup, while I was paying and picking up my order.. man they know how to cook! That chicken noodle soup and the split pea soup are hands down the best I've ever had. You can tell they treat their customers like family--this father and son duo clearly prioritize service and quality. All my coworkers loved their Original Breakfast burritos, the Turkey sandwich was generous, and my Breakfast Bowl was sublime. The salsa could use a teensy bit of salt in my opinion, but it blooms with luscious roasted-pepper flavor. I seldom go out to eat, even with the takeout options but I decided to give this place a chance since I was in the area with some friends. And let me tell you, the place may look unassuming and plain, but the food is ANYTHING BUT! Not only was I greeted by a kind old man at the cash register, he also explained to me the menu a bit and after me and my friends paid, we had the food ready outside in a to-go box in about 5 minutes, if not less. I went for the Double Protein Meat Bowl and it was totally worth it. I can't wait till things normalize and reopen so that I can properly eat one of these meals, sitting at their establishment, properly served. I found this little family owned restaurant by accident. Not a sit down restaurant. They have two standing table outside. My two boys and I used it because we were hungry. We had the breakfast ham burritos. My 12 and ten year old boys loved it. They asked to go again. Salsa was pretty amazing. Husband and wife are running the business. I heard the son was going to open another store in Long Beach. If the son continues dad's legacy and not change anything, it would be a successful business. I asked if they make their own ham. The owner was honest. He said he gets it delivered. Breakfast burrito we ate was pretty basic. What made it taste better than other places? It was not greasy for sure. That tells me that burrito was prepared on a clean grill. It means the owner cares about the business and make sure quality is still intact. So much goodness in this place. I was expecting a mediocre burrito and it is really hard to give a burrito a five star rating. This was "drive out of your way" worthy. The burrito was packed with bacon and ham and pulled together with the best combination of cheese and eggs. Green chili and hashbrowns rounded it out for the perfect breakfast. Kids had an English muffin sandwich (also 5 stars from a very picky child) and a side of hashbrowns and ham (my oldest is not creative and does not get a vote because she ordered lamely but she did say the hashbrowns were burnt, not crisp. So there's that). No pictures this time because the food was legitimately gone before I thought about a picture. What made this place five stars was the brief interaction I had with the manager this morning. We called our order ahead as we were in a hurry and the food was piping hot and ready when we got there. There were only a handful of ham chunks. The ham was good from what I got. And was a bit dry. Couldn't even taste the bacon. Salsa had a kick and was very tasty. My husband got the gilled ham and cheese which was tasty. But not sure it was with the $10. Maybe if there was more ham? And a side note. The kitchen was really messy and very dirty. Yelp wants a #thankyouthursday they get one. I want to thank Ham 'n Scram for making Mother's day a bit special. Me and the wife have always enjoyed trying new places as a "Yelp Hunt" and although this year Covid proved to make things a bit more difficult, Yelp still came through in finding an amazing restaurant. Not sure why, but for some reason the hunt was on this Mother's day for a breakfast burrito, cmon yelp! Don't let me down, lets goooo!! Called in an order of a regular, double meat and a piglet to the restaurant after reading some of the reviews. Arrived for the take out order and was happy with the masked and gloved precautions I assume the owner had in place. It's a nice, small place in a strip mall next to where the Carvana tower of cars kinda is right off the 405. Prices were decent, I was a bit curious until I got home. Holy moly, these burritos were amazing. I ate nearly an entire one but the wife was able to make THREE meals out of hers (she does not eat much). Not normally a huge fan of eggs in tortillas myself (I know im weird, it's just a texture thing I think) but I do think they do have one of the best burritos I have ever had. What I found best is the balance. Nothing was overwhelming in the regular burrito, I did however find that there was indeed double ham in the double and the ham did offset it a bit as a bit too hammy, if that's a thing. The salsas both spicy and regular complemented the burritos well with a nice bit of juiciness and spiciness to help make the flavors "dance". We will absolutely be back, I am really curious about all of their soups and to have another one of those burritos.
