Came here with a larger group, but we always get phenomenal service every time we come in here. That's the one thing I think they don't miss on at this location is fantastic servers. The food is usually consistently very good here, and it mostly was this night as well. The oysters Orleans are my favorite, but unfortunately, about a third usually have pieces of shell in them the last couple visits. I had the fillet and lobster, and they absolutely nailed the Cook and flavor on that fillet. My lobster felt like it was a little undercooked, so I didn't love that as much. But still a solid cook on that fillet. Oddly, enough, whenever we come over for a show going on at the Beau, we usually eat here...and will continue to! read more

I recommend you go to the location a few blocks away. This one inside the casino isn't as good and is also a little bit more expensive. There's a stand alone restaurant nearby which is better. Our server was nice. It was dark and inside a casino. Decor dated. Plenty of free parking at least at the casino. I ordered a dozen chargrilled oysters and they didn't come out sizzling hot like they should have. The oysters themselves were luke warm. Tasted ok but not great. First time here at Half Shell Oyster House. I must say that I am a picky eater when it comes to seafood, but Half Shell met my expectations. Everything we ordered was so good. We arrived around 7:30 but were seated at 8PM. 30minute wait was not bad since there was a crowd. Pro tip, the restaurant was cold so bring a sweater. Here is what we ordered: Charbroiled Oyster - 100/10, my family loved this. Charbroiled oysters with white wine, butter garlic, herb sauce & parmesan cheese. Fried Crab Claws - I had this sauteed Orleans sauce instead of fried. 10/10 would recommend. Crab Cakes - Large six ounce hand-crafted crab cake made from blue crab meat (import), blended with sautéed vegetables and seasonings. Grilled and topped with blue crab meat (import) ravigotte and Parmesan. My brother said these were the best crab cakes he had! Crab Seafood dip - Crabmeat & Shrimp, melted cheese with some herb & Panko crust. Severed with toasted French bread. Definitely my favorite appetizer. Mahi Savannah - Pecan encrusted mahi over cheddar cheese grits with sauteed gulf shrimp. The star show of our meal - I'm not a fan of grits but everything pair nicely together. We ordered a lot of appetizers and one entrée because we could not decide on just one or two appetizers. We enjoyed all of them and would recommend anyone to try this place out! read more

Our second time here. Came on a Tuesday so there was no real wait. Otherwise definitely join the waitlist. I had the special Wasabi encrusted Tuna. Delicious. It came with fried green beans that were crispy with the chili sauce, insane! The restaurant is a little dark so the old man had to use his flashlight on his phone. Half Shell was the first real restaurant I hit in Biloxi. There are a few locations in the area, but this one is located in the Hard Rock Hotel. My friend who lives in the area and I shared the charbroiled oysters, while I ate the raw oysters. He really liked the charbroiled oysters, and he doesn't like oysters in general. I enjoyed the freshness and brininess of the raw oysters. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my po boy as much. The shrimp were small, there was no mayo or remoulade sauce, and the roll did not stand up to the fillings. On the other hand, my friend really liked his cheeseburger and fries (not pictured). Qi was a good waiter. He was attentive and accommodating. My friend felt he did not receive enuf fries, and Qi was kind enuf to bring my friend more fries at no charge. Regarding the ambiance, its upscale in here. The motif is dark and there is a bar, a sushi bar, and several tables of two & four. I would return to Half Shell, but I would shy away from the po boys. While visiting Biloxi recently my friends & I decided to stop in Half Shell to eat. We ordered a few things, all very delicious. The charbroiled oysters and crab beignets were very delicious. The raw oysters were perfect, as was the gumbo. Everything passed the "eat local" test for me. Service was good, we came in midday on a Saturday in November, so it wasn't much of a crowd. We were actually seated immediately. I'd definitely come back here on future visits to Biloxi. read more

The service was good by the bartenders in the area we were sitting in. So we ordered a dozen of the Charred oysters, which were pretty good and two ribeye steaks, medium rare that came with a side Caesar salad and some Cajun mashed potatoes that were pretty much flavorless and dry like they were old and have been sitting out for a while . The steak had a decent taste, but was tough. Not just a little tough. I'm talking about two adults looking at each other that had not even remarked about the quality and both started shaking our heads at the same time. I live in a rural area and I travel two plus hours to stay at the casino and was looking so forward to eating at the half shell. The steaks were $39 apiece and were beyond disappointing. I wanted to be happy and feel like I didn't just piss my money away. But sadly we did and I will never step foot in another one again.. It was a Monday evening. The place was not busy at all and there's no excuse to serve steak as sorry is that one was. Next time I'll go to steakhouse that's not in any kind of a casino. I could've just took my $150 for the two dinners and just thrown it out the window. That's how satisfied I was.. This is the first in a a very long time I felt compelled to leave a review because I was pissed and still I am.. I wasn't there to make a scene or call the manager or demand my money back because once it gets to that point? I'm done and I'm done forever.. I'm sure they make some good dishes with steak is not one of them. Do yourself a favor. The food was good so for that I would have given a 4 star. However the location is very dated and in need of some tender loving care. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Everything was good. The ambiance was just lacking. I had the seafood pasta and it was top notch. My husband had the seafood platter. Everything was just so so he said except the fried shrimp was better than anything he has tasted. We had tasty drinks and left with full bellies so we were content. Not in a hurry to eat here again. Visiting Biloxi, I heard a lot about royal red shrimp and I happen to be in the Hard Rock Casino and discovered that the Half Shell Oyster House had them on the menu so I decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a few. Service at the bar was OK but I had to wait a bit for the bartender when I was truly the only person sitting at the bar. I ordered a half pound of the royal red shrimp as recommended and I also ordered a side of the red beans and rice. The rice came out ahead of the shrimp which was fine, however, I could immediately tell that the beans were a little thicker than I expected them to be. The beans had two nice pieces of sausage and were also served with rice and two small hush puppies, however, I was not a fan of the taste of the dish overall. The shrimp eventually came out and you can understand why they are called royal red because they are bigger than most shrimp and they do have a harder shell that is red in color. These shrimp are supposed to have a consistency of lobster according to what I have learned about them and also according to what locals shared, but I didn't necessarily get lobster vibes from them, but rather softer shrimp if that makes sense. While the shrimp did not have their heads attached, which I truly appreciated, they were not deveined which was something that I truly didn't care for. There was also close to no flavor in the shrimp and in the drawn butter that they were served with, so I tried to jazz them up with a little salt and pepper and hot sauce, which honestly did not do much to the flavor. Overall, it was just a mediocre experience and I can say that I tried the royal red shrimp in Biloxi Mississippi but if I never have an opportunity to try them again, I won't be missing anything and I will forever stick with the red beans and rice in New Orleans bc these beans were not it! read more

Our first time visiting this establishment; great ambiance; layout is vertical vs. horizontal/landscape orientation (huge, massive staircase as one enters the bldg.) Server (Bryson ??) was pretty good: knowledgeable of the menu, attentive to refilling glasses, etc. He checked on us a couple of times; but, did not ask about how we were enjoying the food. The mgr., Daniel, asked about the food and I gave him honest feedback: the oyster appetizer was delicious and well prepared. However, the Fall Special (Trout with multiple toppings) was WAY TOO SALTY (I'm a New Orleanian so I luv seasonings and salt - this was so salty, I couldn't finish the meal.) It was also a bit dried out. The red bean side was also WAY TOO SALTY and the beans were DRIED OUR - definitely NOT creamy as they should be. For dinner for (2) @ $126, including tip and no alcohol, this experience was definitely NOT worth the cost. read more

Located in the Hard Rock Casino is a good place to get a bite. They have a pretty bar area with real gas lit fire overhead. The service started out good, but then our server was gone for a long time. So long we had to ask for her. Someone else brought our refills. Not sure what happened there. She finally reappeared to close out our check. She apologized and told us she was split between 2 stations. She was very friendly, so that made up for it. We split a cup of gumbo and then split a shrimp po'boy with fries. Everything was very tasty. The gumbo was hot and fresh. The po'boy bread was perfect and flaky. They have a higher end menu, including sushi, but they also have burgers. While on the Coast last weekend, I picked this location of Half Shell Oyster House (there are others) for dinner. Initially, I didn't realize that it was located inside The Hard Rock Casino thinking it was a stand alone restaurant. It was a Saturday night and I didn't have reservations but was immediately seated. My order was for the seafood pot pie with a side dish of cheese grits for $23. I added a side portion of the half Shell Salad for another $6.50. The salad arrived first and was very good tasting with romaine and spring lettuce, goat cheese, almond slices, tomatoes and carrots. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette and I thought it was a quality salad. The entree arrived about 20 minutes later. It had shrimp, crawfish and crabmeat with veggies like corn, peas and carrots that was in a bowl that had a golden crust on top. This also was a good tasting dish that had plenty of flavor along with plenty of seafood inside. My meal here was very good and better than I expected. The Shrimp Orleans was on point also with great Cajun spice, but not too much. Shrimp were cooked perfectly! We sat at the bar and had a very attentive bartender. Made it easy to figure out what to eat. The restaurant has a nice rustic down home feel with a very fun buzz. Its a little chilly with the new ACs, so bring a sweater! Fish was dry and overcooked, potato mash had peels and mold chunks in it, sauce was separated, and I couldn't taste anything except salt! Building had good atmosphere there was a good amount of people there so that's always a good sign. We sat upstairs and I enjoyed that it was a little quieter. Our server was quick with her service but was all around very monotone and we did feel a little rushed to get the table flipped by her but all and all she was alright. We started the night with their famous award winning charbroiled New Orleans oysters which were packed with flavor, very very good. Next we shared a bowl of gumbo which in my opinion was just lacking in flavor a little, it was a decent portion size for the price but wasn't loaded with sausage and seafood, I would probably skip over this dish. House salad was an amazing refresher while we waited for our entrees. For our last course we had the seafood pot pie and the redfish New Orleans. Personally I loved the idea of the seafood pot pie. I thought the pastry on top was the perfect amount of buttery and flakiness and the dish itself was loaded with seafood. However I did feel like it was missing something with the flavor profile. As for the red fish New Orleans, this one really stole the show for me. It was a very large piece of red fish topped with a load of mini shrimp and lump crab meat all cooked and smothered in their yummy Cajun butter. This dish was tasty and filling.
