Red beans and rice
Bob S.

The White Cap Seafood Restaurant is conveniently right off 90 with good parking and a fun nautical theme inside. Service was quick and friendly, and we started with the grilled oysters which were very good. The rest of our meal got mixed reviews. The red beans and rice lunch special was a bit bland, the stuffed shrimp were quite good, and the salads were fine. The hush puppies were also good. All-in-all, seems like a fine place, just a couple of misses on the menu.

Grilled Fish Sandwich; thick and dry.

I was torn between 2 stars and 3 stars. Let's call this a 2.5 star rating; keep in mind that 3 stars usually means acceptable/okay/etc from me. White Cap has its good points, but unfortunately the negative point is one I weigh more heavily. Let's get the bad out of the way. I ordered a grilled fish sandwich and the fish was dry. It came with a cup of coleslaw, so I added a layer of it to the sandwich, but even that couldn't save it. I don't like wasting food, but dry meat/fish is something I put on par with bitter flavors, slimy textures, and cilantro: ick. I was only able to eat half, then ended up flagging down the waitress to mention the dry fish and request a cup of gumbo. Now for the good. Nice location! It's a beach-view restaurant with lots of windows to capitalize on its location, and the staff seems to make a point to sit people where they can enjoy the view when possible. The hostess and waitress were both very nice, and when I mentioned that the fish problem the waitress did offer to get me some crawfish cream sauce for the sandwich. Also, the side of potatoes and the cup of seafood gumbo that I had were pretty good. TL;DR = The staff and location/vibes were very good, but a subpar dish marred the experience. Steer clear of grilled fish and you'll probably have a better time.

Great location w/parking in the back. Great views of the beach. Service is fast. However, fish, shrimp & oysters were FRIED SO HARD that it wasn't edible. Seafood including catfish can be cooked done without being cooked too hard to eat. I'm not sure if it's the norm or just the cook for the day. If it is the cook, please tell him/her to stop.

Best shrimp we had on our vacation, plus the hushpuppies were great. Service was also good. Cool dock like atmosphere inside.

The separated crawfish Anthony sauce

The restaurant has a name and the menu could be good, but the food isn't good. The gumbo was tasteless.... The onion rings were very good and hot. Our entrees were bad. The grilled mahi-mahi with the crawfish Anthony was horrible. The fish was cooked till the last drop of moisture was gone and the sauce was separated. Ugh!!! My stuffed flounder had three bites of stuffing and the fish was tasteless. The potatoes were cold on both plates!!! However, the server was fantastic and super friendly.

my wife and i ate there this afternoon and it was great. i had my favorite Red Fish grilled its new Parmigiana potatoes and Coleslaw my wife had Grilled shrimp and green beans. then to top it off had the best Keylime pie. eat here you will love it

Fresh Raw Oysters

Ordered the grilled mahi with pontchartrain sauce and it was delicious. The fish was grilled to perfection. The parsley potatoes was good. The hushpuppies was good but the veggies of the day was overcooked, it was soggy. The raw oysters was fresh. Service was great. Location was great with the view of the ocean. We will definitely be back here.

The lipstick we wiped off the cup.

When we walked in, the atmosphere was great and everyone welcomed us. The decorations were beautiful and my daughter loved the fish tank. Unfortunately, that was the only thing we liked about this place. We ordered the crab fingers and they were sub par. My husband ordered the shrimp poyboy and he said it was not good at all, nor the side of fries he got. My daughter got the fish filet and she refused to eat it. I ordered the shrimp salad off the lunch menu and it wasn't bad, but not my favorite. We also notified the waitress that there was lipstick on my husband's cup and she said I'm sorry the dishwasher must have not gotten it all. We do not plan on visiting this location again and I would not recommend it.

Love the view and the seasoned wait staff. Best catfish in the area and the ambiance is old school seafood restaurant.

Woody’s Roadside

I went to the 1 in Biloxi last winter, and I figured this 1 would be good too. I was right. Prompt…read moreservice, plenty of seating, plenty of parking, nice bar area with plenty of tvs. I came because I felt like having a good burger. I ordered the bison burger. It was very good, but not sure what that thin sauce on it was, plus a few crumbled pieces of blue cheese. Kind of hard to hold and eat unless you smash it down. Craving satisfied.

While in town for our yearly vacation, we decided on Woody's Roadside for a quick and easy dinner…read morebased on the reviews and pictures, as well as recommendations from a few locals. Unfortunately we were left pretty underwhelmed with the experience. It's not that Woody's is bad, per se, it just isn't...good. The service was great. Our server, Jaclyn, was very attentive and helpful. She didn't hover but she made sure we had what we needed and was nearby if we had questions or requests. Jaclyn recommended the margarita, which is where things started going downhill. My dad ordered a classic lime margarita and didn't take more than a couple drinks of it. We all tried it and agreed it just had a nasty flavor. Sort of like bad white grape juice? It was weird, and of course there's a little asterisk on the menu that notes all alcohol sales as final. We were unimpressed with that but didn't even try to argue the point. Our food came next. It was actually incredibly fast service, especially considering the 30-top that was seated when we arrived, with their orders given to the kitchen right before ours. Everything was hot and fresh, though not all delicious. Here's a run down of my family's reviews of their food: Build-A-Burger w/ Amer. cheese - A bit too thick and tough like the meat had been slightly overworked, but it had a great flavor and was seasoned well. The edges were burnt and it was well done, not medium well. Good beer-battered fries. Spicy Hawaiian chicken sandwich - Very flavorful and tropical but the toppings made the bun soggy and the ratio of filling to bun was way off, even with ham and lettuce removed. Crab cake tower - The fried green tomatoes and sauce were great, as was the corn bean salsa that came with it. The crab cakes were good too, though nothing special. The shrimp on top were juicy and well-seasoned. Wouldn't go back for it though. Korean pork tacos w/ mac & cheese - They were okay. The slaw included was a bit too sour but the pork was juicy and flavorful. The mac & cheese was too bland. Chicken strips & fries - The chicken tenders were cut wrong so they were hard to eat. I had to cut them up with a fork and knife to get bite-sized pieces that I could chew. They had a good flavor but the technique needs some work. The beer-battered fries have a strange seasoning on them that got more unpleasant the more I ate, but everyone else liked them, so that's probably just me. This is one of my least favorite restaurants we've been to on the Gulf Coast, which is unfortunate because I honestly thought I was going to like it a lot! For the price, I don't think this is a great place, especially because it's pretty out of the way from the main drag(s).
