I can't believe that I forgot to review this restaurant! Anytime I would come and visit my grandmother in Gautier, we inevitably would wind up in one of two restaurants, with The Cornerstone being one of them. The last time I went to the cornerstone, the place was happen! Very busy time as we went during lunch. I happen to be traveling with my mother and sister as well on this trip to see my grandmother. My mom got the fried shrimp plate, my sister got shrimps and grits, my grandmother's nurse for 1/2# of royal reds and I got a patty melt. The food came out quickly considering it was lunch rush. The portions were adequate for the price and the food was temperature appropriate and flavorful. The restaurant itself is very minimally, decorated, just a place serving good food. It was a little loud in there this time, but that simply because it was lunch rush. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will miss going to this restaurant since my grandmother is no longer here, but at least I will have the memories of the time spent with her there and the good food that we had. read more

We went last night for the first time. Everything was great! The food, the service. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The crab claws were so good and a large portion. I had the fish special with a creole sauce and grilled shrimp on top. Delicious! read more

Good seafood in Gautier. Reasonably priced. Molly was a nice waitress. My mom and I split the 1/2 and 1/2 fried shrimp and oysters. She loved the side of sweet potato fries and my fries had a nice crunch with a light batter of seasoning. Both the shrimp and oysters were lightly battered and abundant. My husband had a GIANT Bayou tater (loaded baked potato with Cajun sauce and grilled shrimp). There is a bar adjoined with the restaurant. The restaurant had a clean industrial feel to it and had lots of families with kids. You could eat in the bar if you want a more adult dining experience. read more

I enjoy going to cornerstone. The food is good. I like that you can get grilled or fried. They even have steam seafood delicious.

We were eating in this restaurant even before it moved to its current location and have always found the food great and good staff. Last time we went was on a Thursday night. The noise coming from bar was what sounded like a has been bar singer. The noise so loud you couldn't talk to each other. When enquiring if the the doors to the bar could be closed we were informed that they couldn't. We finished and decided not to go back. If I want to go bar hopping I'll do that, but when I'm in a restaurant I going to eat. We may go back one night other than Thursday to see if it any better. read more

This a very nice place for different varieties of seafood. I do wish there wasn't such an emphasis on royal reds, but this seems to be the norm across similar restaurants. I have not had a bad grilled fish, no matter what the fish of the day is. My wife regularly asked me to bring her catfish from there. read more

Went here for lunch as it was a good midway meeting point. Our server was delightful, nonissue there, however, the restaurant played very loud music not making it conducive to conversation. I could have put up with that if the food was good. It wasn't. It was on par with cafeteria food. Having been a personal chef and caterer I can tell when the food I am eating is a frozen product. The shrimp basket was frozen shrimp, frozen sweet potato fries and dry as dust hush puppies. That is a shameful display of food for a restaurant on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. The unimpressive salad came with a commercial pouch of salad dressing. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because our server was sweet and attentive. Not worth the trip. read more

Don't just don't get the gumbo. Had better soup. Maybe 4 overcooked shrimp. For real seafood go to Bozos Too. Very salty. Not real southern gumbo. I don't understand why they get 5 stars Poor service also. Husbands shrimp po boy unimpressive. Service is lacking. Fried green tomato greasy. No flavor. Don't waste your money. We definitely won't go back. Tried stuffed crabs once. More bread crumbs little crab. They need a makeover. How does it get good reviews is beyond me. This is a wonderful and homey place to dine. So clean and welcoming, you will feel like you're at grandma's house. The poboys are excellent, and the chantilly cake is not to be missed. The waitresses will treat you like family, and there is also a bar you can sit in if you prefer. This is a great place to make your weekly go-to. read more

Randomly went to eat here with couple of friends and was seated right away. Waitress was very outgoing and kept us entertained while we were waiting for our food order. Decent prices on the menu most are affordable. Ordered the hamburger steak with sautéed onions and mushroom and smothered with gravy. Also came with rice and gravy. The hamburger meat was kind of bland but I still liked it. Gravy saved the day!! read more

Wow just wow why are they still opened! gumbo taste worse than canned soup. salty maybe 5 hard shrimp. So being hard headed we gave it another try. Stuffed crabs all breading no visible crab. Went for my son's 18th birthday, this is where he chose. He decided he wanted to have a shrimp poboy and my daughter wanted the burger and fries and my husband and I had the steaks of the 2 for $22 menu. The food was wonderful, as always. The server, upon finding out it was my son's birthday, offered him a dessert from the cooler, he chose the cheesecake. The meal was enjoyable and definitely enjoyed the coleslaw. My first time here and not real sure what to order. So far the salad came out really good and fresh. My 8oz ribeye was really cook to perfection. Which I thought they would mess up since the steak is on the thin side. Waitress and staff really friendly. So far so good. Will come back try other food on menu. read more

First time here and it was delicious!!!! Had a steak sandwich with mushrooms and sauteed onions and it was so juicy and yummy! Really good frys as well. I will be back for sure!! Coke products so thats a plus. Good service for this busy little place read more

Just tried the fried tilapia and wow was I impressed. The fish had a perfect golden crust. The fillet was very thick but so flavorful. Staff was very friendly. This restaurant moved to our city which is now in Gautier,Ms , my friend and I went there for lunch on February 3,2021 my friend and I went in had to wait on the hostess because he was talking he finally came and seated us the waitress took our drink order , then she returned to take our food order after waiting for along time the food came and mind was cold my friend was barely warm she ate hers because she said she was really hungry , I had the fried fish plate I broke off a piece of the fish less than five minutes the order came back , the same food I sent back had been reheated in the microwave the same piece of fish I had just returned and onion stringers were soft and soggy, I told the lady as we were checking out about my food being reheated she didn't apologize or try to listen she said they don't do that I reassured her that it just happened the fish I sent back came back to me less than five minutes never tried to fix the problem , I'll have to let the kitchen staff know my friend said that's the end of that it happened and nothing will be done. I ordered the fish extra crispy and if you fry fish regular it takes longer than two or three minutes, I'll chalk that as a lesson learned and not to go back terrible experience and very poor customer service, you all need to do better, the service was so poor I can't even rate it the best way to describe this was horrible and awful I had to put a star or I couldn't submit my review it deserves not one star read more

My family loves this place, but I honestly don't see why. The food is generic at best. The salads looked like the bought a bag of premade salad mix from Walmart and threw bottled dressing on it. The "greater tater" has gone downhill from when I first had it years ago, and the dinner entrees lack flavor and tastes like it came from a microwave. Safe to say I'll never step foot in the place again. I'm surprised it's still open after all these years. read more
