I stop by on a regular basis usually to shop but sometimes to sell. If I do sell some books usually the money goes back into the store. I do wish they'd give a little incentive to spend the money you do make back in the store. The people who work there are always ready to help point you in the correct direction. I love, love, love Half Price Books. I detest buying books brand new and I go through them like water so it is good to have a place close by with cheapie deals. They have a lot of remainder books that can be ridiculously cheap, even for great finds like Gourmet Magazine's newer cookbook for under $10. Sadly since it is used you can't rely on something specific being there, but you can count on finding new, fun things you have never heard of. I also sell back old books there from time to time, the prices they give really kinda suck, but they are better than what you would get for them at a yard sale. Sign up for their mailing list. They have lots of good sales and good deals on gift cards during the holidays. read more

It's said you don't truly appreciate something until you lose it, and that's how I feel about Half Price Books after moving away. If you're in the vicinity, you really need to get to know this place! They have a great selection of books, including dollar paperbacks that I loved to stock up on while travelling and then leave the read books for others to find. i love this Half Price Books - it's fairly big and full of fun finds. I can't always be sure they'll have the exact book i'm looking for, but they always have something. And their art and photography book selection is pretty extensive considering that those books are typically considered a specialty and not too main stream. read more

For a book-fiend like me Half Price Books is a regular stop. This location is really clean, organized and open so it's easy to shop in. Because of it is in everett they don't carry a large amount of text or school books. But I especially like their large selection of cards and other gift items. Boxed cards here are WAY cheaper than you can get elsewhere. Note - Half price books does offer to buy books and their selling process is efficient and easy but you're not going to get any good amount of money back. read more

This is a great place to get used books, especially since I am the type of person who reads them once and then passes them on. The store is quite large and makes for the perfect stop off either before or after dinner at one of the many restuarants nearby. I do love to check the front area for great deals as well as the clearance section, they tend to have best sellers available for decent prices when a book has been quite popular and out awhile. I also like to look at the other things they sell like the little craft kits, calendars, book marks, etc. It can be difficult to locate specific books, but can be done with some effort. I don't really recommend selling your books here if you are hoping to make a lot of money but if you are just wanting to make room for some new stuff than by all means. Staff is friendly. This is a great place to pass some time. Plus a gift certificate here makes a nice gift for a reader in your life. read more

I love Half Price Books, but this one is not my favorite. It's not the selection - they have a good one and nice clearance books . It's the workers. Nearly every interaction I've had with them has been sarcastic, rude or generally unhelpful. Whether they're suggesting I give my child a sedative, not helping me carry in boxes of books or telling me where to put them (but then telling me to move them when I finally sit them down) or just being overly unhelpful, I have not been impressed. Alas, this one is fairly close to me, so I'll still probably spend tons of money there. read more

Half price books is my little slice of heaven. Not much of a book person but I love coming in here and spending about an hour filling my basket with movies. While most of movies are gently used I haven't come across to many of them not working. You really can't beat the prices for movies! Most are only 4.99! And they have such a nice range of selection! I will say buying newly released movies from there is a bit silly when you can spend same price at target and know for 100% it's in good condition! They have a great return policy so if your movies don't work you can bring it back! The staff is always super friendly! And love all the little random things they sell! Have amazing coupons too if you sign up for email! Over all it's a wonderful store and so glad we have one! read more

I took seven large bags of books in today, and there were a lot of hard cover best sellers in the mix. I waited 90 minutes for them to go through them and I was offered ELEVEN DOLLARS!!! Which was - oddly enough - the exact same offer the people ahead of me received. Never again. read more

The best of several Half Price Books that I visited in the Seattle area. Was roomy, clean, and had a reasonable priced selection of LP albums. Easily spent a few hours exploring here and spent a fair amount of money as well (but had a lot to show for it!). read more

I like this bookstore. I can sometimes buy cheap books. I usually stop by to sell my books or music compact discs. Sometimes I could walk there, because it is close to home. They also have plenty of good cd's on the music section. I bought a few Barbie collecting books. I usually get a good deal there at the store. read more

Everett, WA is underserved by bookstores. The corporate bookstores are basically all that's left. Barnes and Noble and Half price books are pretty much what the county has to offer. and when it comes to selling books the alternatives are garage sale or Half price books. I chose the latter, unfortunately. I brought approximately 500 used books to the Everett Half Price Bookstore. The books ranged in age from 80 years to quite recent, hard back as well as paperback. The subject matter was fairly diverse, but mostly non-fiction. Commercial fishing, boatbuilding, farming, travel domestic as well as foreign, atlas's, medical tomes, surfing, skiing, art, etc. I was told that with that many books it would take a while to sort and that I should return in 2-3 hours. I returned a few hours later and to my astonishment I was told that the proceeds of the sale amounted to $5.25. A penny a book. Had I gone to Goodwill or Value Village I would have received receipt that I could use as a tax deduction, but since I sold my books to a for profit corporation to receive any such benefit I would have to come up with a purchase price on books that have been collected for years mostly with no receipts. So a word of advice. Save yourself time, frustration and donate those books for a tax deduction instead of supporting some corporate enterprise that basically steals books for their own profit. read more

With the low, low prices these guys pay, you're better off donating your books to a thrift store. A thrift store won't give you any money, but that's only slightly less than you'll get from Half Price Books. You'll also walk away feeling good about having done something positive, instead of walking away feeling angry about getting ripped off. Definitely the low point of my visit to Everett. read more

Up until today's interaction I really thought of this half price books as a friendly and good bookstore. Having worked retail during Christmas for more than 20 years 5 years of that at an independent bookstore I can relate and empathize with the idea that a patron and lover of books tends to reside in a store full of reasonably priced books for hours. Enter in of course the holiday times and Christmas shopping. I walked up with my last and final gift to purchase for a sister in law. A single craft book. A niche item and a fairly easy find. Unfortunately at the door I was turned away by the clerk without so much as an inquiry to what I was looking to find. The doors were open and there were other shoppers inside. I respect the need to find time for family and friends during this holiday time. But I feel a bit rejected as a customer for this short lived brush off by the staff. Nobody asked are you looking for something quick. I was simply told they were closed. Or closing in a minute. Now I suppose I could have been rude and just not accepted their obvious push out the doors however I don't need to shop for my gift at this establishment. I'm the guy who drive 10 miles out of his way to frequent the same business for decades, Crosses state lines to go to that mom and pop shop that appreciates the business. Now I understand that the "booksellers" or clerks are simply hourly retail employees with a need to close up shop. Unfortunately this has left a sour taste in my mouth for a store that I've been In numerous times with my book loving wife and 2 children. I won't be frequenting the establishment again. It won't make much difference however since the attitude is "big box" rather than true independent bookstore, which wants customers. Thanks for the books and memories. I guess its time to drive to an establishment that likes their customers and wants to keep them. read more

Its time to rename your store. HALF Priced...I don't think so. At least not the DVD's. Some of the DVD's are priced higher than brand new. What are you thinking.? Especially when: #1 Multiple copies #2 Older tv show #3 Pricing logic defies logic ex: season 1 (any show) priced at a reasonable $9.99 ok season #2 $14.99 hhmmm season #3 $ 9.99 what? season #4 $29.99 excuse me and season #5-last $14.99 ... crazy!! What is going on...do you see that a tv series is being watched and then go in and jack up the prices on the other seasons, but not in any way that makes sense? Are you aware of your competition right across the street, namely Best Buy, that carries much of what you do, BUT brand new, for a reliable $19.99 or less for old tv series? Then there's Amazon, that can get it to you for under $10.00. I asked one of the clerks once about their pricing policy and her answer was they price them according to demand. So yeah, if you want to get a deal on a older tv series, order the whole thing on Amazon and stay far away from Half Priced Books. They may do better on books-but they should keep their hands off the DVD's. Especially when you find out how LITTLE they purchase used DVD's for. read more

If you're looking for something a little obscure and off the wall, you probably won't find it here, but they do have a good selection of the mainstream stuff at pretty decent prices. Their media collection fares the same way, though I was annoyed to see that most of their music was lumped into Pop/rock/hip hop. read more
