The Tulip Festival was such a great experience overall and absolutely worth the trip! Yes, it was busy but honestly, what do you expect at a popular spring event? The crowd comes with the territory. What really stood out was how well-organized everything was. Staff were actively directing traffic for parking and foot traffic which made the arrival process surprisingly smooth given the turnout. It's clear the organizers put thought into the logistics. The flower variety was truly awesome! Sooo many stunning colors and blooms that you just don't see every day. If you're a photography lover then this place is a dream. Every corner was practically begging to be photographed. They did have concessions on-site, which was convenient but my one suggestion would be to bring in a couple of food carts or local vendors to mix things up. The options were pretty basic. Think hotdogs and the usual staples. A little more variety in the food department would really elevate the whole experience. Minor food note aside, it was a fantastic visit and a perfect way to spend a spring day. read more

Yes, the tulips are beautiful. The gardens are stunning, but unfortunately, that is all that our elderly out-of-town guests got to see. The actual fields are a significant walk from the entrance. This year, they did not plant the closer fields. Nowhere was this mentioned on their website when purchasing tickets. I asked if they had wheelchairs we could rent or a golf cart they could use to shuttle less-able folks out to the fields, but they don't provide that. Had we known, we would have chosen a different farm with closer fields. read more

The tulip festival is always lovely and is even better when there's no mud from recent rains. Visited on April 9 and met lovely workers who (are paid to) walk around and engage with participants at the festival. It's quite nice to be around hundreds of strangers who are all in a good mood and smiling. So many varieties of tulips! Plenty of places to take photographs, lots of designs, snd benches, and the ticket prices were quite reasonable, including parking. If you have a handicap placard, be sure to look for the parking lot right near the entrance. There aren't a lot of spots, but it's a closer walk out to the tulip fields, than the huge fields of parking on the opposite side of the road. read more

4.5 stars. Came here in April as a tourist. They're pretty out of the way and this was also during tulip festival. This place can get very very busy. Admission price is around $25-30 a person which is a little steep (I remember these places used to be cheaper or free growing up?). The tulips themselves are really lovely. Stores are very limited and there are a lot of crowds. Just an FYI that you can't actually walk through the rows of tulips (just around) but still looked plenty nice. I know there are a few tulip fields in the Mount Vernon area, but I heard that Roozengaarde was the best. It truly was a great first tulip festival experience! The parking was easy and free. My husband and I went over the weekend, in the middle of the day - it was busy. Everyone wants to take photos, understandably. Expect there to be a lot of other people, but everyone was courteous and mindful while everyone gets their perfect pictures. It's truly a stunning display of a variety of tulips and other flowers. It made for a lovely day walking around admiring the display of flowers in the fields on a Sunday day. We got so lucky! There is a lot a food and beverage concession stand with water, soda, energy drinks, and quick bites to eat. It's all reasonably priced for a day out. The gift shop seemed pretty wiped out once we got there - the clothing and keychain type merchandise was scarce and the flower options for purchase were alright in my opinion. I was hoping to see more variety of flowers for purchase inside the shop. Overall, it was a great day trip from the Tacoma area to enjoy the beautiful flowers and cruise around the area afterwards. read more

Came to Roozengaarde for the tulips in April 2026 and had a lovely experience. I actually thought going early April was great, as both the tulips were in bloom, as well as plenty of daffodils. Of course I am sure the exact dates of bloom vary year to year depending on weather. I ordered tickets online which was an easy process and provided plenty of instructions and expectations. As others have mentioned, if possible go mid-week. I went on a Wednesday and with gorgeous blue bird skies and while there were more people than I expected, it did not feel crowded at all. I imagine that on nicer weather weekends, it is jam packed which I do think would detract from the experience. Their display gardens in the front are beautifully laid out, and after a short walk are what seems like the never-ending fields of tulips. Yes, it is all "planted" and not "natural" but beautiful nonetheless! On a clear day that mountain views are gorgeous. read more

This farm puts on an excellent event for the tulips and daffodils. The parking is free and they have attendants that direct you where to go. There is food and drinks sold inside but I believe you can also bring your own. The colors and selection of flowers here is amazing. First of all--this place is massive! And absolutely stunning. The explosion of colorful flowers is such a beautiful sight that I was instantly inspired to get my own garden in order. A quick tip before you go: make sure to wear sneakers or boots. The ground can get pretty muddy, especially after it rains, so it's best to come prepared. Heels are definitely not recommended--it's packed mud in many areas, and you will sink. That said, I did see some brave souls in dresses and heels chasing the perfect photo! The fields are filled with endless rows of vibrant tulips, each section showcasing different colors and varieties. The early-season daffodils were starting to fade, making way for the breathtaking display of tulips in full bloom. There's quite a bit of walking involved, so wear comfy shoes and take your time. If you need a break, they've got a full hospitality stand with burgers, hot dogs, coffee, snacks, desserts--and yes, ice cream too! There are also a couple of on-site shops where you can buy cut flowers or place orders for bulbs. I was also able to ask some questions and hear the history of how they harvest the bulbs which was pretty interesting. I won't ruin it for you! lol Pro tip: grab a booklet and a pen when you head out into the fields. The booklet alone doesn't do the flowers justice, but seeing them in bloom makes it easy to mark your favorites. The flowers are labeled, which helped me track down the ones I absolutely loved. Lastly, do yourself a favor and buy your tickets online--the in-person line was pretty long. The ticket is worth the price of seeing all those amazing flowers! You're going to have an amazing time. I thought I wouldn't be able to see the Tulips this year because I was out of town for most of April, but I was able to last minute make a trip after my flight, and it was so worth it!!! We came pretty late, arriving around 6 PM on the last sunday to see it & there was no traffic. This was such an ideal time to come because the lighting was beautiful & all the morning rush traffic was gone. The tulips were stunning. The pictures don't do it justice, but this is a trip that is worth making at least once. The staff was very friendly. To actually buy the tulips is a little too pricey, but I would say it's worth coming to actually see the live garden. read more

We bought tickets online but it wasn't as fast as I thought it would be because there was an elderly worker using her ipad to check tickets. The cash line looked faster. Beautiful tulip farm. It was pricey but lovely and heck, the blooming time is only one month long. I did think they should give seniors a discount since my MIL couldn't go out to the long rows of tulips with her walker due to the soft and a bit muddy and bit of a distance path. We hit amazing super sunny weather so that obviously influences my review. We then bought a few $8 bunches of tulips to bring home to enjoy. If its a weekend, go to the Kawanis salmon BBQ 11-7. We came from the SF Bay Area to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, specifically to Roozengaarde. So expectations were high and Roozengaarde delivered. A beautiful PNW day with clear blue skies. We arrived at 7:45 and parked right away near the entrance. The line was about a city block long. At 8 they opened the doors and those with pre-purchased tickets were let right in. They had some beautiful tulip arrangements right by the entrance, the fields were in the back. Overpriced food and drink for sale ($10 hot dog, $5 soda). Nice gift shop and they had an extra tent with more tulips and bulbs for sale. The staff is really nice and efficient at moving and directing people, kinda like Disneyland. We're glad we made the trip and will definitely come back one day. read more

Went to see the gardens today, since it's been a few years since we've lived here and it's a great way to celebrate spring and enjoy the sunshine. All the staff were really nice, there's so many varieties of flowers, I always forget just how many kinds of tulips there are. I will say getting there, especially on the weekends can be challenging so make sure you plan for all the traffic, it can go really slow at times getting into the parking lot and getting out. There is plenty of parking, but be prepared to walk. The fields can get muddy, it's a farm and fields, so I'd be mindful of that. It can also be windy because it's fields and a lot of open space. It can get expensive so I probably wouldn't come every year but I would definitely return in a few years to enjoy it again. The price is definitely worth it to see all the garden designs and mixed flowers. read more

Roozengaarde is one of the many tulip farms in the Mount Vernon area and is one of the most popular spots during the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April. You can go through downtown Mount Vernon to get here but you might run into traffic so it's recommended to take the back entrance via Highway 20. I'd highly recommend buying tickets online ahead of time ($15 per person) to skip the long lines when you get here, like we did. It was pretty well-organized with workers guiding you through the parking lots and managing traffic. Of course there were tons of flowers; more specifically, there were about 300,000 flowers across three acres. There were a variety of flowers like tulips, dandelions, daffodils, lilies, and peonies. If you want pretty backdrops for pictures, this is the place to go because there was just so much color everywhere. If you like the flowers that you see, you can head over to the gift shop and buy some to take home. There were food stands but it was dramatically overpriced ($10 for a hot dog) so it might be a good idea to bring your own food or eat elsewhere. I'd recommend wearing closed-toe shoes because you'll be walking on gravel and dirt. We spent a couple hours here and had a good time! read more

This review is quite belated. I visited Roozengaarde with my Grandmother in early April of 2023. She loves tulips (she is Dutch and Irish!), but she felt disappointed that not many tulips had bloomed. It was also unseasonably cold for April last year (which relates to why not many tulips had bloomed yet), and despite wearing the tulip sweatshirt that I got her as a gift, plus a hoodie over that, she was cold walking around the fields, and she was annoyed that she was cold. So, this was not her personal favorite visit to a tulip festival. However, I give it 5 stars though. The lady who checked us in was super sweet and very apologetic that not many tulips had bloomed yet (the cold snap was 100% out of her and anyone else's control, of course), and she gave us a ticket for a free bouquet of daffodils to make up for that. I did get my daffodils, and they were so pretty. My Grandmother and I also each bought a few items in the Gift Shop as well, and the ladies there were wonderful. The items were a bit overpriced, but what the hey, it felt like a special occasion (I hadn't been to the Tulip Festival in many years before last year, and I always enjoy my Grandmother's visits as well) and I didn't mind paying a bit more for my tulip napkins and Tulip Festival magnets than I normally would have. I also bought a bouquet of tulips, which were beautiful and lasted for a long time, since they were picked fresh from the fields so soon before I purchased them. As for the tulips in the fields, there were many green shoots waiting to bloom, which I loved looking at, and there were also many colors and varieties of tulips where just one tulip, two tulips, green tulips, blue tulips (wait I am getting off track here haha)... or a small cluster of tulips had bloomed, when all around them were long rows of the green shoots of the tulips still waiting to bloom. It was exciting and fun for me to find the tulips that had bloomed earlier than the rest. There were also rows of pretty daffodils in the fields, and hyacinths in the small, lovely garden near the windmill, which I enjoyed as well. I also appreciated that there weren't large crowds when we went, even though we went on a Sunday. My Brother / Best Friend, Ryan, had messaged me information and articles about most of the tulips blooming later than usual, so I was aware of this when we went, and I still thought that it was worth it. I had underestimated my Grandma's disappointment, though, and I would only take her again on one of her upcoming visits if it was warmer out and if more tulips had bloomed. Over 90% of the tulips grown in the US are done here in this region of Washington. We didn't get a chance to see the tulip blooms on our trip to Holland, so our trip to Seattle in late April was perfect. During the month of April, Roozengaarde hosts a tulip festival, with fields of them, that is a magnet for visitors who want to welcome spring. Picture taking of young and old is everywhere, and it gets the most crowded during the mid-day. Come early (right when it opens at 8), and you can see everything within a couple of hours without dealing with huge crowds. Traffic is bad...can't imagine the irritation of all the local residents during this month. It becomes bumper to bumper within a mile of the location, and this is with plenty of workers directing traffic and parking (which has no fee). But everyone does their job during entry and exit, and didn't see any tempers flaring. Words really don't do this place justice....if you like flowers and plants, you should come here and see for yourself. There are overpriced refreshments (burger, hot dogs, kettle corn) and homemade fudge (I would stick with the dark chocolate variety....is 'white chocolate' even chocolate) on one end, and a souvenir shop on the other. There is also a tulip shop where you can buy the tulip bulbs for the variety that you've seen, and have it shipped to you once available in the fall. There are copies of the color catalog in the shop, and you work with someone to place the order. It is really nice that Roozengaarde does this every year. For the $15 entrance fee, I would bet they barely break even, but clearly, they want to spread the joy of tulips to the public, and it needs to be appreciated. read more

I called Roozengaarde before I planted the gorgeous "ice cream" bulbs that I saw in a picture. I told the woman where I lived in Idaho and that there was a discrepancy in the area I lived and the instructions. I have been gardening for over 20 years with bulbs and have had 100% success with all. The woman on the phone stated that if I had any problems with the bulbs coming up they would make it right. Well, for the first time in my life these bulbs didn't even produce a flower, some didn't even come up and some were so low to the ground it was impossible to harvest. What a waste of over $60. I called and left a message and they never even called me back. read more

The Roozengaarde is incredible! Truly. There are a handful of tulip festivals in the Pacific Northwest, two of them here in the Mount Vernon / La Conner region, as well as Woodburn in Oregon, but this one is arguably the most impressive. Whether or not it is the largest in terms of acreage (although I believe it is), Roozengaarde trumps them all in variety, density and beauty. Unfortunately, there a few caveats that make a visit to Roozengaarde a bit of an odyssey. First off, do yourself a favor and buy tickets in advance. You don't want to have to wait in the seemingly endless line of similarly unprepared visitors, that us with pre-purchased tickets were able to stroll past in a matter of minutes. You especially don't want to wait any longer than you have to, considering that just approaching this place takes literal *hours* at peak times. And whatever you do, if you are coming by car, do not, I repeat, DO NOT trust Google, Apple, Waze or any other map app to estimate your travel time: the connection is terrible our here, particularly when the towers are being overwhelmed by the swarm of visitors, and these apps just can't keep up. Our "10 minute" drive to La Conner took 8 minutes to cover the first 6 miles, and TWO HOURS to complete the final mile, because of the traffic pile-up. And although onsite parking is included with your ticket, their lot is at the end of the traffic nightmare, and there is no significant parking anywhere else nearby. Do yourself a favor and rent a bike in town an ride in, or find some other way to avoid coming by car. I promise you, you will thank me later. Once you are inside, however, the experience is magical. In addition to the tulip fields themselves, there are several gardens, pathways and floral displays to enjoy, particularly near the entrance and exits. Snacks and drinks are available, if you're able to stomach the obscenely long lines and astronomical prices, as well as an adorable a gift shop. You can, of course, also buy tulip bulbs of many varieties onsite. During peak times, the gardens are open from 8am until 7pm (last entry), although they won't start kicking you out until 8pm, or after sunset, whichever comes first. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, I've written about a thousand words here, and there's still a lot more I could say to describe the experience here at Roozengaarde, but in this case, I think I'll just shut up, and let the pictures do the rest of the talking. read more

I highly recommend buying fall-planted bulbs from Roozengaarde; I own a small flower farm and they are always on my vendor list for fall bulbs. Their selection is smaller than some of the other companies I order from, but their chosen varieties are truly wonderful, and I often find they anticipate trends and favorites in the narcissus and tulip world, offering outstanding varieties before they're widely available or known. I've never had an issue with an order, and love that if I call to ask about a specific variety or my order that I get to speak with a real person who intimately knows the inventory and understands the ins and outs of growing! read more

Great place to visit for tulips! We only picked two tulip farms for our 2023 excursion to the Skagit Valley and we ended with Roozengaarde. Parking will take a while - even before 11:00 - so be patient. The farm is huge and filled with color and texture. The small flower ordering area is overcrowded and hard to get through. The tulip festival is a beautiful place to be and so peaceful! I recommend going on a week day and getting there right when it opens to avoid the crowds. We got there right at 9 am and it was delightful and stunning. We went the first weekend so not all the tulips were in bloom but most were. This coming week I'm sure they will be! I hadn't been in 10 years and I went to Roozegaarde both times. It didn't not disappoint. Beautiful surroundings and if you go on clear day you'll see the mountains peak out. The staff is great inside the store and of course you need to buy some tulips to display at home. Grab some hot tea, coffee and fudge. Can't miss out on that fudge! I visited Roozengaarde on a Saturday late afternoon despite warnings to go early in the day; however, this worked out really well for my friend and I. We arrived around 5pm after being stuck in the local traffic leading to the parking lot for quite some time. When we arrived, the line was a bit intimidating but moved quickly and we were admitted in under 20 minutes. Highly recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of your arrival-- that line moves the quickest. Despite the amount of people in the fields, there's still plenty of space to spread out and enjoy and take photos. The gardens are full of color and truly a sight to behold. When I posted my photos on social media, friends thought I'd jetted off to the Netherlands. When we went, the second weekend in April, fields were only muddy in limited spots but I was glad I wore boots for trekking through the fields. It was perfect. We spent some time in the fields, taking in the sights, and even bought some tulips in the gift shop to take home which are beautiful and thriving (and stickers-- I couldn't resist!). I came here during the Skagit Valley tulip festival and LOVED it. I was originally worried about traffic and having a lot of people in my pictures, but the tulip fields were so large this wasn't an issue at all. Traffic was a little slow but definitely not as bad as I expected and they had tons of free parking. The ticket cost $17 to get in and we spent about 3 hours there. I loved all the colors and arrangements of the garden. This is definitely a must for spring time in Seattle! They had lots of tulips for sale at a great price. We didn't get any, but I saw a lot of people walking around with beautiful bouquets taking pictures. I will say the food selection was limited and pretty expensive.
