Fantastic breakfast for an early morning flight. Had eggs and bacon in it and was very filling. I grabbed it and then walked a little further down to Starbucks to grab a drink to go with it. Made the wait for my flight easy to handle.
I think this empanada place can utilize a little more love? As of yesterday (2/25/2025), the shop has 3+ stars. People tend to criticize businesses at an/any airport but sometimes we need to step back and think, "What if this place existed outside the airport? Would the rating be any different?" Let's talk about prices first. Their empanadas are priced at $6.50. And they are decently sized. I don't call this super overpriced. Overall cleanliness is also what I don't want to forget to mention. They have no chairs or tables to sit down and eat right at the store so this is strictly a take out place (so you'll go to your gate and sit there to eat.) All the empanadas are neatly placed in trays inside the glass showcase. Nothing looked dirty. And they are under the warmers so your empanada will be warm upon being handed to you. Service was also friendly and quick. My time being there was a quick 1 minute interaction . And off I went to my gate with no wasted time/energy. Oh, most importantly, the Spinach & Cheese empanada tasted pretty good. They also have sweet empanadas for sweet tooth. I simply cannot think of anything negative to say about my yesterday's experience. So I'm leaving my review of 4 stars for this decent place. Is that fair to say? Yes, right??
Had to stop and taste a empanada, waiting for a plane ride. Fast and friendly. I had the spicy beef one. And it did in fact a little kick, but was also very tasty.
Empanadas were amazing. You cant go wrong with what you pick. Service was fast and efficient. Perfect for on the go at the airport. The colors of the booth are eye catching.
Half Moon empanada is located close to the center point of concourse B at Denver International Airport. I arrived after a very delayed flight so wanted a quick bite to eat while I ride the train to get on my way to home and this seemed like a perfect choice. They have a good selection of empanadas and I tried the regular beef and spicy beef empanada. Both were pretty good. The filling honestly reminded me exactly of Taco Bell which is not necessarily a bad thing. For a quick bite to eat at the airport, Half Moon is not a bad choice!
Food tasted great! I tried the classic beef and o was in and out. No line no fuss! They're a fast food restaurant so no seating. You use airport seating and some Have tables Too. I'd have to try their other flavors.
I was looking for a quick snack to eat over a short layover and this did it. Bit salty though.
Friendly and fast service! The empanadas are the baked kind. Nice quick snack/meal before our flight. I asked for recommendation and they recommended the three cheese and the beef ones. I also got dulce de ledge based on their recommendation. The three cheese and beef were solid. The dolce de Leche was just stuffed with the caramel sauce. We should have leaned in on our intuition and got the guava and cheese or the hazelnut cocoa one. Either way it was a nice snack! I didn't give them four or five stars, only because there was nothing outstanding but again. Solid choice for an airport food!

Empanadas are delicious and Half Moon Empanadas have some interesting flavors. I scored as my friend can't eat gluten so the empanadas were all mine. The guava and cheese was intriguing and I didn't know what to expect. It turned out pretty tasty. The sweet guava flavor was not overshadowed by the cheese. If I hadn't known there would be cheese I'd think it was strictly a dessert dish. Check them out for a grab and go meal before a flight.
The staff was friendly but their English was a little rough. I will admit I was on a time crunch to catch my connection but I ordered a four pack of Nutella empanadas to take home to my kids and a beef one for me to eat before catching my connection. The staff asked me if I wanted 3 Nutella and a beef since that would make it a better price. I said no, I'd take my 4 pack of Nutella to go and was going to eat the beef empanada for lunch. I paid the cashier while he boxed them up. I ate my beef empanada there. I was good and super flavorful. When I got home.... He had given me ONE Nutella empanada and the rest beef. After tip, it was $40 and they were rather small.
The empanadas are spot on here. Flakey crust with a slight chew, flavorful and well seasoned filling. I've been to the Denver airport quite a few times and as of 2024 this looks like a new addition. Was very excited to try it. I got two spicy beef, spicy chicken, and a spinach. The beef is pretty ground up so the mouth feel is for lack of a better word very particle-y. I enjoyed the chicken more with its fuller texture. Spinach was on point. They have "combos" for 4 packs and more. You're saving a few cents if you do the math. Not much but in this economy anything counts. I was pretty full after 3. Wouldn't want to over do it. If I were to go back I'd likely do 2-3 because 4 seems like a lot. The 4 or 6 pack seem like a good option to share.
The empanadas were absolutely delicious! We ordered takeout, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The server was incredibly patient while we decided, and we really appreciated the great customer service. They have so many different varieties of food, so there's something for everyone. Everything was top-notch--even my husband and my son loved the empanadas. We'll definitely be back! Thank you for everything you do. Empanada was great, mango drink was confused for alcohol by everyone, super friendly service. This little spot ion the middle of the terminal offers an assortment of empanadas. I got the spicy beef for $6.99 and was very impressed! Tasty and crunchy pastry with a flavorful and spicy beef filling. I ordered ones of their iced fruit drinks which was essentially your choice or lemonade/iced tea (or both) with a squirt of coffee flavor. I chose the mango with lemonade. The drink was fine, however everywhere I went (seated at the bar, boarding the plane, on the plane) I was questioned about whether or not there was alcohol in it. Not sure if there's a better way to manage that. The staff was SUPER friendly, the prices were fair (for an airport), and most importantly- the empanada was delicious! Empanadas are delicious and Half Moon Empanadas have some interesting flavors. I scored as my friend can't eat gluten so the empanadas were all mine. As a pilot, there's nothing worse than the commute. Generally large airports are devoid of food made with love. Today I was grateful to find half moon. One spicy beef was all it took to now have a "go to" at KDEN. A flaky perfectly crisp shell and a filling that made me want more. Fast, yummy and I'll be back. Thank you! read more

6/13/23 Needed something quick between terminals and came across Half Moon Empanadas. They had quite a few options to choose from. I decided on cheesy gaucho for $6.50/each and a bottle of water. Total after tip was $12. Wowzers. Expected of airport eats these days. I tipped as the staff was nice and greeted me while I ponder the menu. Once I got to my gate, I went for it and found a room temperature non-cheesy half moon empanada. Bummer. I really wanted to like it. I'm glad I got water as it was a tad on the salty side. Lesson learned. :( read more

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews of this place, when I had a great experience! The staff was very friendly, and you are able to order from both sides of the stand, making service quick and efficient. I ordered 1 Beef and 1 Chicken -- both were very tasty, and a great snack for running from gate to gate. I was very happy there were so many options without cheese. Definitely greasy though, so grab some napkins! read more

Very cute shop, loved the minimal waiting and that the empanadas are ready to eat. Got the beef empanada, flavor was good but could have been a little stronger. Overall great experience, pretty good value for airport food. read more

Sooooo the lady at the counter gave us the wrong empanadas. We clarified with her twice which ones we wanted and she still grabbed the wrong ones. On top of that, we ordered the "4 pack" at $24.44 advertised price. But she rung them up all separately at $6.50 each. I pointed this out and she condescendingly said that the $26.50 before she added tax was because the tax was already on. We came off an international flight so we had no energy or desire to argue or correct. Just know they're going to rip you off. Oh and they are SUPER salty. read more

Airport eating is always a little stressful for me. There are either not many options or seemingly many options but nothing that feels like what I want (or want to pay) for the length of the layover. When I saw an empanada stand passing through the airport, I was immediately intrigued. However, I ended up choosing to grab a sandwich somewhere else instead that was underwhelming. In the airport again on my way home, I did what I should have done the first time and just got the empanada. It was exactly what I needed: filling, flavorful, not too heavy, and the right price in a package that's easy to take with you to wherever you are headed in the airport. I chose the breakfast (bacon & egg) this time, but the others looked good as well. Will certainly choose Half Moon next time I'm in need of sustenance at the Denver Airport read more
