Last week I needed some help with my second backpacking trip to Havasupai and met Alec in the store. I was so surprised that he went above and beyond for me and my questions and recommended several good options not only for the hike but for the car camping as well. Since the experience was so great, I texted my friends from out of the state and asked them to use REI at Paradise Valley for their purchases because of a great value and quality. I came here a few days ago looking for vertical ascend gear out of caves. I was greeted by Jason and he was really helpful and knowledgeable. I needed very specific gear, and Jason was very patient with me and showed me where I could find sit harnesses, chest harness, chest ascender, hand ascende, foot loops, etc. I didn't find exactly what I needed but got a good idea on the things I need to build a personalized vertical gear set for myself. And of course, while I was looking for cave gear, I wandered around looking at all the fabulous gear they have, I was like a kid in a candy store. I could spend hours in here. I started looking at hydration packs as I need to replace mine and found a very nice military edition and will come back to purchase this soon. I also saw plenty of Petzl bags, and very tempted to purchase another. They also carry so much Petzl gear, you will be in heaven here. Also, some great hiking shoes and some sleek, but we'll performing water shoes. I then wandered into kayaks and Jason even showed me the Padillac they have! I've gotten into paddleboarding and kayaking for the summer and now want one of each! This place rents them and sells them. I then went to check out some wetsuit gear, and they have a really nice selection of wetsuits, gloves, booties, etc. I really love this place and it is definitely gonna bankrupt me, but so worth it. There were two customers ahead of me. I looked at a few items in the store and was helped in about five minutes. I was measured for an insole. Staff heated the insole. I then stepped on a piece of equipment that would mold the insole to my foot. Staff were super helpful. She had me try on some slight compression socks. Once the insole was ready as well as my results, staff got me a pair of shoes. She placed the insoles inside and had me try them on. They felt so good. We had a very good personalized 1 on 1 experience with Dylan and Tanner who were very knowledgeable and helpful with helping my son choose the right glove. They have a great selection of bats and gloves amongst other baseball and softball equipment here. The store is just big enough without being overwhelming. I can't thank Tanner and Dylan enough for the wonderful experience. They also have glove break in service which is normally $60 but $30 if you buy the glove from them. Since we are out of state they said they could keep the glove and complete the service which is 5-7 days and then ship to us. 10/10 recommend!!!
