The restaurant that was here before got a huge upgrade in terms of food. The quality and taste is way better now and fresh. It takes 25 minutes for the Afghan lamb and chicken plate but well worth it. It was one of the best dishes I've tried. Especially from previous establishment in the same location the food is way better now. I gave it a 4 star because the management is the same old guy who doesn't know how to provide good service. UPDATE. I love the burgers here so much I decided to write a review before attempting to eat my sizzling burger. They are hot (you actually have to wait a few minutes for them to cool down) they are juicy ( even for someone like me who has to have them  well done-now that's a miracle!!) the tomatoes actually taste like tomato, AND THE LETTUCE IS SHREDDED NOT LEAF! This location is very clean ( even the inside) smells fresh AND they actually run the air conditioner (today it's 94 degrees outside and about 70 in here). The service was fast today (it has been every random time I've come) at 9pm only six tables full, no one in line ahead of me. Cashier and wait staff are always curious and friendly and clean. I also like that they don't yell to each other and carry on obnoxiously with each other.  It's pretty great that  you can order a burger "as is" or build your own , from medium to well done and number of burger patty to any combination of many condiments or add-ons like a fried egg . They have chicken sandwiches aswell. My favorite right now, of all the burger choices, is the KING burger, it's advertised and holds up to its reputation!!- I have them put extra cheese (it's actually real fresh and melting the kind you want to sneak a piece of before it gets to the your mouth) and I'm thrilled it isn't a sweet burger at all (so tired of sugar in everything) but mildly savory peppery(black pepper)goodness, it does come with grilled crispy onions -which makes me happy- but you can add regular onions if you want. I order the fries  extra crispy, boy are they great, not soggy or tough or falling apart. They must use super fresh potatoes  or similar type because they are lovely and cooked to order. They are served w ranch or ketchup. The sides are yummy, nice and hot. The Diet Coke is good too- can you tell I seriously love this place- it's not over carbonated but not flat either. It's nice to eat at a burger joint (their term) where the food is fresh (buns are good)and not cooked ahead.  There's a good mix of people whenever I show up, retirees,40 somethings, couples singles , families, working folks, teens, suits. There may be a loud noisy time for this spot (maybe on weekends from outside crowd) but my experience is busy but not crazy loud or overcrowded. I so wish they could have a halal burger drive thru here , I'd sit in that vey long line and wait happily. read more

Visited this location after finding out it was under new management. I've been searching for great Afghan food I can take home with me and enjoy, I've finally found it! I called ahead for the bolani gandana and the ashak and it was ready within 30 minutes. I was able to walk in and was so pleased with the service and great employees. I did the yelp check in for a free can of soda! The food was AMAZINGGG my mom is an amazing when it comes to cooking afghan food so my expectations are very high and this was beyond perfect. I stopped in for my second visit today hoping to try the buffet which I saw no sign of. Buffets are probably money losers for most restaurants so it's not a surprise that it's apparently been discontinued. The first time I went to HKC I ordered the mantoo dumplings and the chicken Afghani plate. I requested salad instead of rice with the chicken in order to cut down on the carbs and the lady behind the counter assured me that was what I would receive. Unfortunately the plate arrived with the chicken over the standard rice. I didn't want to wait for a do-over so I ate it the food as it was served. The chicken was grilled to perfection, tender and juicy with just enough heat to add flavor without being overwhelming. The rice was also slightly curried and was topped with raisins and and carrot shavings. The other 2 compartments on the Styrofoam plate contain a nice salad of cucumbers, tomato, and onions in one and hummus with sliced olives on top in the other. The mantoo are packed with meat and mild spices, then topped lightly with tomato sauce, split peas, and then a generous amount of yogurt sauce. A very filling dish that makes a meal for one or great for sharing with a group. Both times I have been to HKC the ladies that took my order were very polite and friendly, the first even complimenting me on my vintage Ozzy Osbourne T-shirt. read more

They put sauce inside the food box with rice.the bottom of the sauce container always dast you. The Jumbo Gyro was worth $8-9. Not the quality of Gyromania, but in the Neighborhood.

I have no words for the experience I had at this restaurant, with a heavy heart i give this review... because I don't enjoy giving one stars but they left me no choice. We had called the restaurant ahead of time to order the food but the phone call had to be the most stressful thing i've ever gone through. The lady who we spoke to sounded very aggressive and rushed, we kept saying what we wanted to order and she would not understand what we were saying and she would hang up randomly. We called back and she was not paying attention and started talking to someone else. So we just decided that we'd go there and order because the phone call was terrible. Upon arriving the lady was on the only one working there and ordering was very tough once again. The wait time was said to be 15 minutes but we waited there for OVER AN HOUR for food for three people... like bro i wasn't even hungry any more by the time we got the food. It was truly a distasteful experience, customers should not have to go through such a journey just to order some food. Really sad to give this place bad reviews cuz I love their food but if they want to retain their customers, they need to have better service. We went here for iftar for the all you can eat buffet. They set up the food for iftar and never came back for any refills. All the meat from the rice dish was gone and they never came bothered to refill it even after checking. The second thing that happened, we spoke to them about catering for a birthday party we were looking to throw for our daughter for 100 people and told them the items we wanted. The lady said she would discuss and get back to me with price quotes. Weeks went by and I never heard from her. I called and left a message asking again and the lady who answered denied the fact that they would never do that. Few mins later I get a call from another lady, the one who I actually spoke to initially and she apologized and said she hasn't forgotten about me and will let me know in the afternoon. Guess what? Never heard back. What kind of business doesn't as to make money and more business? These people must really not know how to run a business. Placed an order, paid online, when I arrived the elderly lady with dirty nails, no gloves, no mask and no hair net, told me it would be ready in 5 minutes. I waited an hour. When the order was finally ready, she demanded payment again (even though I showed her proof that I paid online). as an afghan, i can say this food is some good ol'homecooked afghan food. each plate we got hit home. bolani was amazing, the rice and beef qorma was delicious. as many have stated in the reviews, the establishment is run by one elderly woman who seems overwhelmed and exhausted. there needs to be more help to streamline the process. so if you order, don't expect fast food service, because you're not getting fast food quality. the wait time is a bit high, just factor that in before going. they can expect a regular customer! read more

It's the same people of gyro house not a new restaurant. Prices are lot higher than regular halal place. The owner is the same and he has a cheap and rude attitude. He keeps on increasing the price so check your tab every time. Also he yet to switch things like regular pita instead of Afghani naan. Charge for extra sauce etc. So ur good choice will be chapli kabab but it will cost you around $15 so choose wisely. Same store same people. Loved the food here. Got a chicken souvlaki plate and a gyro rice plate. The gyro was the best I've had! It was well seasoned and had a crisp crust, a great sear. It was almost a shame to add the tzatziki sauce to cover the meaty flavor. The chicken was great as well. It was firm with a great bite to it, but it wasn't dry at all. The seasoning was great on the chicken as well. The chicken plate came with a green sauce that reminded me of Thai flavoring: sweet, sour, with a great kick. The rice that came with both dishes was interesting. Sweet raisins and julienned carrots over lightly seasoned rice. They added a little oil to the rice, which was probably my least favorite part of the dishes, though the rice was still very good. The hummus was your standard fare; not much to say there. Little family shack which I passed by when really hungry and felt trying some food I wasn't familiar with and what a nice surprise; the food was FANTASTIC! They could have some napkins and utensils on the table or brought it out with my food (I had chicken wings and a sandwich afghani style) and perhaps kept the place little more tidy, however, when the food is that good, it taste even better eating it with your hands and lick your fingers clean. I am crying right now. This place has bomb authentic Afghan food but the customer service is a hit and miss. We would eat here everyday but its taking chances. The first time we were here, my husband was able to come in and order and at that time, I believe the elderly lady still had help. We got the Chicken Afghan Plate and Lamb Bukhari. The second time, we ordered thru grubhub and had to wait an hour to get our food (she had no help). The third time, it again took 30-45 mins. when we came to pick it up. This time, I ordered thru Uber Eats, I was already telling myself okay the chances of this coming thru is 25% so I prepared myself to be disappointed. But to my surprise, I get a notification that my Uber Eats driver had my food and is on the way! How did we get so lucky! Anyway, please get the elderly lady help. Thank you yelpers for this awesome find! After reading some of the reviews I decided to go with the Chapli Burger. It was delicious! If you want to try something a little different then your standard burger, then go with this. The meat has some interesting spices, very tasty. It wasn't too spicy for me, but it does have a little kick. Next time I will have to get this burger without onions, I'm not big on onions. This was a pick up order, everything was on time and ready to go. You can order thru Eats24. That's where I ordered from but I still called to confirm. The burger was ready for pickup in about 20 minutes. Next time you are in this area and want to try something new, give this place a try! Went here for the first time tonight, 3 of us we asked a lot of questions all the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to answer questions and help us order food. They let us sample some things and even made me some of their hot tea. It was not on the menu but he made me a cup, the food was delicious (and the tea) They have a lot to choose from and servings are large good to order different things and share! WOAH! What a happy accident! My husband and I had never tried Afghani food and it was an incredibly pleasant surprise !!! We had three main dishes mantu , ashak and bolani. They were all such familiar flavors but the spices we so different then my Armenian Heritage. It was incredibly delicious and authentic. The restaurant itself is a cute small space that is family owned. You can tell they are really passionate about their ethic foods and I think that comes across clearly in the cooking. It was a fantastic experience and they have van had my favorite Armenian yogurt drink (tan). The mantu- they are little dumplings with ground meat inside, topped with a yogurt sauce among with many other traditional spices and garbanzo beans. Ashak- is another forum of dumplings that is stuffed with scallions and topped with a yogurt sauce and meat topping. Bolani- WOW first of all its huge !!! Very big portion but it's something that you definitely want leftovers of because it's delicious! This is a flattened potato patty that is made with spices and served with two dipping sauces (yogurt and a spicy green sauce). Overall this is a great place to try something new and tasty!
