a plate of food on a table

We came here around 1:45 PM on a Saturday. The place was empty, but that was no biggie since I assume the lunch crowd was gone. Waiter was seated us and took our order promptly. We ordered the ground beef kabobs and chicken breast kabobs. Two beef skewers were inside the gigantic bread with a grilled tomato. The price is around $15. The chicken breast kabob was one lonely skewer. I was expecting two. Haha! Orders come with the bread, but if you want basmati rice then it's $1 extra. We ordered one of each. The quality of the meat is really good and the rice was cooked nicely. The bread was really good! It has sesame seeds in it and there is a pleasant nuttiness and chewiness. Food came out in a reasonable time and we really enjoyed our meal. If we are ever in the neighborhood again, we would give this place a second go.

omg, if you like Persian food or you like Kabobs in general you absolutely must eat in this place. The place is a little far from ventura blvd but that makes it a hidden GEM! I rate this place 5 Golden Stars , the BEST and I mean the BEST Koobideh I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. They catered a party for me last week, 200 people all loved the food and couldn't get enough of it.

Not sure how to review the place its a mixture of good and bad . The restaurant seem to be run by a family , a mom a daughter ( maybe ) and a gentleman who can maybe the husband or the owner or the waiter I can't tell . I love family run restaurants and I wish I could give a better review but here is my observation : Gentleman taking the order was a bit confused about what we ordered , came back a few times to repeat it and had a hard time understanding that we wanted BOTH the humus and the eggplant as appetizer ( could've been a language thing ) . I asked if they had a special drink he offered the yogurt- mint drink that we often see in middle eastern markets and restaurants . I didn't really understand when he said " yoghurt" first so I asked if it had milk in it to make sure we are talking about the same thing? He insisted it doesn't have milk so I asked him to bring out a one bottle and the first ingredient was listed as milk on the back of the bottle . So I stuck to water . So we ordered : appetizer humus and eggplant and a cucumber salad and a mixed plate of food that listed the usual minced beef and minced chicken and chicken chicken kabob and fish kabob on the menu . Food came out wrong , instead the eggplant we got some mixed pickled vegetables . The lady who may be the owner ... quickly took it back ( the gentleman from before walked out at this point and never came back ) and 5 min later brought out the eggplant . Which was very good by the way I have to give it 4.4-5 stars . Humus 3.5- 4 stars cucumber salad 4 stars . The main meal came and when I looked at it I could not identify the fish and I pointed to something that I hoped was the fish and so I asked the lady ....she answered : " that's beef we don't have fish ". Dear waiter , please tell the customer up front if you don't have an item that day . Dear owner tell the waiter what is missing from the menu . I don't eat red meat and the whole reason we ordered the mixed place is because of the fish . There was no apology or nothing simply " we don't have it ". Part of the rice was under cooked and hard. Part was good. Also the dead animal skins on the wall should come down its unappetizing .

Don't use Yelp to have your order delivered. My order was never delivered nor did they have my order on file. So disappointed.

My father has left this world but every time I come here I remember him loving this place. His favorite was the lamb shank. He would usually order two portions. One to take home. The grilled fish is excellent. Kabobs are of the highest quality. If you haven't been definitely try their lunch specials. The staff are very polite and servings are large. My favorites are their kabobs and different modifications (think sour berries) of generous amounts of basmati rice that accompany their entrees. The Mast O' Mooseer (yoghurt with shallots) is another of my must haves. Generally, I always get the koobideh kabob to go, but this time, I was in the mood to sit down and have some chunks of meat. I chose the Shish Kabob, which is advertised as grilled filet mignon pieces. The restaurant prepares it medium well and past experience revealed it to be dry and tough. So I asked for it medium rare, for the first time. The dish that came to my table had marvelous optics. The beef was well charred, had an intoxicating aroma and well distributed coloring amongst the seven generous pieces. But there were a few problems. For one, I could not comfortably cut into the beef without using excess force, and shredding it. I asked for a sharper (steak) knife and was told that was all they had. While the meat was juicy, it was extremely chewy. I even questioned whether it was filet mignon, because it did not look and behave like it. I was told it was. If that was the case, could it have been a bad cut? This substantiates why I am leery about ordering meat pieces. Amongst the other items, the thick creamy yoghurt did not disappoint. Same with the grilled onion and tomato. The saffron rice is always fluffy and abundant. The green salad was crisp and refreshing. Take home message? Looks like I will have to skip the Shish Kabob and stick only with the koobideh, if I am ever in the mood for skewered grilled beef.

It's located inside a small plaza and has both indoor and outdoor dining. The place itself is cute and clean. When we arrived, it was empty. The only issue we had is the service. The owner was running around being the host and chef it seemed. He forgot things we ordered and then we had to wait forever to get our check. I don't know if the service is always like this but, they definitely need to hire more people to help. The food was really good so I'd be willing to give them another shot!

Two of us ordered Persian omelet, which was amazingly delicious. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They refilled the Persian bread, sangak, and tea nonstop. At the end, the owner gave us complimentary coffee and fruit from his own backyard. This place is good for groups, and they remodeled the store recently. There is an outdoor sitting area and plenty of spots inside of the store. Also if you are big group, just call them and reserve you spot for peace of mind. Just keep in mind that Persian food preparation takes time, so you can order earlier by phone or wait at the store. Definitely recommend this place to give it a try.
