My husband and I just love this place!
We've stopped in here together a few times now, and my husband has gone once or twice with friends from work, and everyone seems to love it. We actually ended up here because Noon Mediterranean was out of falafel for me and chicken for him, plus, they were open later on a night we decided to go out. I definitely wasn't so bummed about Noon after trying this place!
I've gotten the falafel over rice each time I've been, but most recently I've learned to get it WITHOUT white sauce, as the WHITE SAUCE IS NOT VEGAN (even though that meal has a (v) by it _, which I've always understood to mean vegan, also, it contains eggs if you're wondering). My husband has had the combo, which I think was chicken and shawarma (maybe he got to pick the combo???), just chicken, and the lamb, and he's loved them all...even if I wish he'd have just gotten the falafel. He likes to get a pita on the side, and they're definitely good pita! My favorite add on is extra pickle. I donno what kind of pickle they use in their salad, but it is SO good. It's now and extra $.50 for it, but I'm happy to pay it. On our last visit, this Friday, we got and shared an order of fries, which was enormous. It could've served 4 people easily. They were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Definitely something I'll think about getting again from time to time.
The staff here is really great--super friendly and welcoming. We've also recently made friends with a homeless gentleman who hangs out in the parking lot of this shopping center, and I know, along with other restaurants in this center, the owners of Halal Bros feed him regularly, for free. They're taking care of their community how and where they can, which is truly awesome.
I really love that they have Maine Root sodas; the Mexican Cola and Diet Mexican Cola are delightful, along with so many others. I always have my stainless steel tumbler with me when we visit, and I'll tell them I'm having a soda or water but can I use my own cup instead of a plastic one, and they allow it, charging me accordingly if I choose soda. They ~don't~ have real silverware here, just plastic, and they ~don't~ have a recycling bin, which sucks, because they use ~mostly~ metal containers to serve their food in (super easy and GREAT to recycle), and the rest (the lid), is plastic, which could also be recycled. I would hope to see recycling bins in the near future to remedy this, since they DO use a lot of plastic silverware and cups in their business, plus the aforementioned wonderful-to-recycle foil trays (the lids of which they could switch to cardboard/paper maybe?).
But yeah, they're great, really, on all levels, and the fact that they take care of our friend makes them even cooler! The food is delicious, the prices are great, the portions are generous (seriously, I get 2 meals from my falafel rice plate), and the staff's wonderful. Give 'em a try!
...but maybe bring your reusable cup and silverware, if you've got it? Or at least carry what you DO use here to a recycling bin, please! read more
