I'm writing this review because I'm still standing in line for food. It's been about 30 minutes since I placed the order at the kiosk. I came here for a quick grab and go lunch because it was near the office. Simple order: Chicken sharwarma wrap with French fries. Granted, I came during the lunch rush, but this is the 2nd time this has happened. People also waiting in line ahead of me keep asking where their orders are too. If I ever get my food I'll maybe update my review, but for now, this is a 1-star and a guarantee that I will never be back again (and will be telling my friends to stay away). read more

Absolutely love the chicken kebab. This not a 5 minute turn around type of place but the wait is most definitely worth it. I would suggest ordering before you arrive. Definitely a must have at least once a month due to a few reasons. The plate is over $10 and the location is a bit out of my way. It did inspire me to make my own at home and hopefully with some more visits and practice I might get down. The service inside is a bit on the low side not as friendly as Chick-fil-A but who can meet those standards right? This is my go to Mediterranean food. Falafel without the white sauce is the way to go for y'all vegans out there. It's pretty good, but tbh I feel like the frozen falafels from Trader Joe's taste better. But it's pretty filling and can last you 2 meals! read more

Love this place! I frequently call in an order of the chicken Shawarma or the chicken Shawarma wrap with the delicious sauce. Ingredients are always fresh the pita is out of this world. Everyone that works there is always very friendly and working fast to get your food order ready. I specially appreciate how consistent it is so always in a pinch I know I can get what is considered a fast prepared food, but is really a great meal that you get really fast! I like the spicy red sauce. I asked for sauce on the side as thy can be a bit heavy handed with it. Do not like my wrap soggy. But for certain get extra red sauce. yummy. The hummus is very delicious- I like to take it home and eat it with veggies as they only offer pita bread. The house made lemonade is super tasty- very well balanced. Was in Austin for work and hit up this joint for lunch. Looks like they just opened recently and it was pretty packed. It was fairly quick and efficient but seating was a bit difficult. Would be great if they added some outdoor tables. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken over rice and it was spectacular. Full of flavor, spices and cooked to perfection. Portions were large and I couldn't stop eating :) Most of the rice dishes come with a salad. Hint: Get the white and red sauce bottles to add a punch to your meal. We placed Uber eats order for Chicken shawarma over rice, loaded fries, hummus and pita bread. Food was disgusting to say the least. We have been eating at halal bros past 15 years. They used to serve chicken shawarma over rice for 5.99 now it's 15.99, 3 times the price and quality keeps going down. Last time we ate at halal bros and were very disappointed. We thought of trying them again today. There was barely any chicken on chicken shawarma over rice, whole container was full of just the rice, there was barely any sauce on it, the whole rice felt so dry making it hard to even swallow. Fries were tasting like they were fried in very old oil and were tasing bitter with again barely any sauce on it. Hummus was fermenting and the only thing you could taste was sourness, we threw it away with the fear of getting sick eating it. I had selected red and white sauce cups with rice and fries but didn't receive any. Pretty sad that we have mark this restaurant off of our list to eat ever again. read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Dallas. Lovely minimalist decor with white walls and green plants. Their logo is splashed boldly over the wall. The food is flavorful and moist. Tried the combo plate and the shawarma plate and both rocked. The portion sizes are plenty to curb any kind of hunger. The prices are very reasonable. We ate here last night and it was so good! I got the chicken kabob over rice and wife got the chicken shwarma over rice. Both were delicious. Love the hot sauce! The portions were big, I actually turned mine into 2 meals and it's just as good the second time around. I now what to try everything once. Really good flavor. The lack of the star comes from their website not being the greatest. There are typos and not much there. There is more information once you start placing the order, which is good, but I'm sure some people are deterred away from it not knowing they'll get answers if they just order. For instance the ingredients and such, or what the side salad all includes (We aren't fans of pickles and they're on the salad). Also, the baklava, though delicious, it's a bit small. For me it was 2 bites. If they mske their own phylo dough, then I guess it's understandable, but im assuming they don't. And that dough is a pain in the butt to work with, but it's not too bad and it should last a while, so I'd like a larger portion so that it's closer to 4 bites, or just a littlecheaper so we can buy 2 per person. I wish I lived closer to this place. They are the best halal I've found. There are other good options but each ingredient they use is just that much better than the other guys. But the difference is when you find this place behind the Walgreens on Braker & Metric you'll think, "Damn, it's easy to park here!" Oh quit whining & enjoy the food. Because this place is all about being cheap & good. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Asian over Middle Eastern, but there ain't no denying these bros are flying. The usual kebab & shawarma suspects, and the most expensive items are the meaty $9 "over rice" entrées. My $6.50 falafel over rice was way enough food for two. Bear in mind it's all paper & plastic here, and you may feel the need to reminisce over your high school cafeteria. What a lot of food for a little price...I had a huge falafel wrap for $5.50...It was sooo good. I honestly did not even need to eat the side of hummus (ordered separately) with pita bread but I did ;) My friend met me there and he ordered the falafel over the yellow rice and a side of Tabouleh. I had no idea this place was even here. A friend suggested it as a quick drop in when we were hungry, not wanting to resort to fast food and also not spend a ton of time and money. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh, salads, veggies, lemonade. Yummmm! Great staff, and I will be stopping by here regularly to pick lazy dinners. I LOVE this place. As I've moved up north after graduating, I haven't had as much of a chance to visit the campus location. This new location is great! Lots of parking, great location, lots of space, and they give big portions! If you are around the Domain area, you should come here as it is as good as it gets. Some things in Austin are overhyped and overcrowded, but this is not one of those places. This is a true hidden gem. I got the lamb over rice and the loaded fries. They were on point and I will be coming here again. If you've never been to Halal Bros, then what you'll appreciate is the fresh food and the balance variety of food you get in each bite. Every "over rice" plate comes with yellow rice, meat, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, white sauce, and red sauce. It is SO good. Usually I can't finish and have to save the other half for another meal :). The loaded are fresh hot fries smothered in white and red sauce with ketchup. I have given this place plenty chances to correct themselves. But the last order was beyond all the expectations. I understand it's pandemic and we are helping each other and I truly support my local businesses. I ordered a gyro wrap which was soaked and liquified, besides the meat, everything was blahhhh...I ordered chicken kebab over rice which came with less than half of the usual quantity of rice, chicken half way done and molded, yes! Molded salad!! The 3rd item was lamb over salad. The meat was done, but the salad was old and molded... they used to add some small amount of chick peas paste in there to make It look all appealing and eatable. This time everything was just thrown in there...We are not pigs, we work as hard as you people... and I paid a fair amount for 3 meals. I had to work , so I wasn't able to return them. I submitted a refund request through their website explaining what the issues were and I never heard back from them. How can you even sell such meals??? I ask you to put yourself in our places and tell me how would you feel being served with molded food!?!? It's not the first time my order was a mess up, I used to visit this place weekly... one time I've awaited 47 min for the food to get ready. Once it was ready, I took my child to the restroom, to wash hands, I made sure the table was neat and that it looked like someone was sitting there, my food was covered with a napkin and my water can was covered as well. We came back 2 min later and the food was gone!! Someone threw it away, despite of the fact that they saw us awaiting there for a long time and we just opened the box with food... we had to wait another 50 min for the next food to be made... Another time all the chicken on top of the rice was burned. I took the plate back and asked them to redo it... And the small salad mix that they prepare sometimes they charge you for it, sometimes they don't. Depends on the cashier.... my regular plate chicken kebab over rice was sometimes $9, some other times $11... rarely I paid the same amount for my regular plate!. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was used to very good non-American food, but the reviews here drew me in. I had the beef shawarma plate, extra pita bread and the house-made lemonade. The plate was very, very (very!) good - meat was tender, rice was great and their white sauce was a very good compliment to everything. The pita bread was hot and moist, and the house lemonade was wonderful - a very nice surprise! They serve Maine Root soft drinks, which I'm not fond of, so the lemonade was a great option. The restaurant was busy at lunch, so it did take a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. Next time I'm in Austin, I will absolutely be back! read more

Finally ordered my first halal in TX. I had chicken, beef, and lamb combo over salad. It's at the very least as great as the best ones in NY. It easily matches the quality offered by NY's Halal Brothers and Hamza & Madina. The way the salad was prepared is better than all the others I have tasted. The hot sauce did not kill me and so it was a winner to mix more generously with the combo. Kudos. So far this is the best halal I have tasted in TX. read more

I almost don't even want to write this review! Not because Halal Bros is bad, in fact the opposite! I've taken a contract nearby, and it turns out that Halal Bros is within walking distance from my office at the moment. The dining room is clean, the staff is knowledgeable and inviting. However the best part of Halal Bros, is the food! Yesterday, I tried their Falafel wrap special, which comes with chips and a drink. The food was made fresh, but also fast (I have an hour for lunch, but had to walk to/from the storefront). That first bite was just heavenly! Lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumber, with both a spicy and a white sauce, all on a bed of falafel and warm pita. Today, I tried out their online order system, to schedule my lunch! This meant I was able to completely customize my order, pickup location (there is one at Breaker, and one on Guadalupe who accept scheduled orders), and pay for it, all in advance. I avoided the line completely, and enjoyed the extra time basking in the early Austin spring. This will surely be a favorite, for as long as I continue to work in this area! read more
