Really good Chinese food, honestly best I've found in Idaho. Seems to be a family staff and they are friendly and nice. Nice ambiance.

The hot and sour soup is legit. Had Mongolian beef and Mandarin chicken. Good service and really good food, comparable to Seattle Chinatown. read more

I'll give it 5 stars because the place is really good and because of thr location. You'd never expect to find good Chinese food in a place such as Donnelly. Not putting thr town down, but just where it's situated you don't expect to find ethnic foods. It's a great place also if you need a break from driving or if your filling up your car with gas. I've driven through here and added a few gallons of gas so many times and didn't even know this place existed. Was told by a colleague of mine and we went together after some meetings in Mccall and boy was he right. read more

Hai Yan - Excellent take out, fm taste to packaging. - Chinese Near Me - Donnelly, Idaho

So good! ! I stop there often passing through. My family loves it, the orange chicken is the best in Idaho, same with the General!

So happy to have a Chinese food restaurant in the area. Bonus that's it's good too! Love the sizzler entrees, combo chow mein or friend rice, sesame chicken! Crab stars hand made every day! All good read more

Very happy with this addition to Donnelly! Nice to have a different type of cuisine and Hai Yan serves very solid Chinese food. New and clean interior, well-rounded menu with a couple tofu options, and plenty of beer and sake. The Genera Tsao's chicken was the standout from our first dinner but none of the dishes missed the mark. read more

Two of us split the Iron Deluxe Sizzler for lunch today and it was absolutely devine. I could rave for days about the scallops that were cooked to absolute perfection. The overall flavor of the dish complimented all of the ingredients beautifully. I highly recommend this price performer. The staff is always very nice and the service is courteous and professional. I ordered the small Won Ton soup for an appie. I wish the server had conveyed that this is made from scratch and you take a bit of time. Had I known, I would have eaten more of my husband's hot and sour soup while waiting! BUT .. OMG so worth the wait. The dumplings and the soup broth, yeah...worth the wait. We are never disappointed with the entire experience eating at Hai Yan. This is made to order, home cooked food, and you can definitely taste the difference. Every dish is worth the small wait. Apologies there are no photos. Just go and see for yourself!! read more

The best Chinese food I have had in Idaho. The white chicken had a wonderful flavor and a nice assortment of vegetables.

Oh man. I love a good Chinese restaurant, and this place did not disappoint. I actually didn't have a whole lot of expectation for quality given the mountainous and somewhat isolated location, so it definitely exceeded that. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and hope they are hugely successful so I can keep eating here when visiting with my family. Went with a family of 5, service was quick/friendly and the food was hot. My favorite was the broccoli beef, which I order at every Chinese restaurant, but this may have been the best I've ever had. The vegetables were crisp, with a good ratio of veggies to beef (tender beef plus crisp veggies, yes!), great sauce and small bits of char. Obviously I was a fan. We also ordered the generals chicken, which was not spicy but had really good flavor as well and my whole family enjoyed it (including the kiddos who "general"ly don't tolerate spice). Then the mandarin chicken, sauce on the side, sauce was brown and thinner than the typical sweet and sour, we all liked this one as well. The chicken chow mein we ordered was good, well cooked, but would have liked more veggies (my kids liked it without the excess veggies, but if I ordered again I would probably try the vegetable chow mein instead). It's a good thing this place isn't closer to our house because I would spend way too much time and money here. Also, the dinner entrees we ordered were $17 each, huge portions with egg rolls, soup, fried rice, and a mafa chicken piece with each order. Plenty of food to order 3 entrees for 5 people with to-go boxes coming home! Highly recommend! read more

Had a nice dinner during vacation. The service was good. Pretty no nonsense. Typical Chinese food. Really large portions on thee dinner meals. Came with soup and spring roll. I think the spring rolls were hand-made. Nice and flakey. Brought us sweet and sour and mustard side sauces. Full waters throughout. I had the Mongolian beef. Lots of beef and onions. Just like I like it. My wife had gener tsao chicken. Again generous portion. All tasted fresh. read more

Great food. Deliciousness with a homemade feel. Great service. Better Chinese food than in Boise

So disappointed after all the good reviews. Waited 45 minutes for food after ordering. My husband said his Cashew Chicken tasted like left over vegies, had five cashews. I had pork Chow Mein, pork was tough, noodles ok. Won't be going back. read more

Food was tasty! I ordered take out and the wait time was longer than anticipated but the food was delicious. A great addition to Donnelly's two block long downtown. Decent Chinese food, not San Francisco or New York originality or flavors, but -again- this is Donnelly. Good quality ingredients, well prepared, and the restaurant is clean. We had General Tsao's Chicken, Oriental Wok veggies in curry, and fried rice. Will definitely return when we don't want to cook. read more

If you're really, really hungry the portions are large, however it takes quite a while to get your food. We waited over 30 minutes to get our meal, but the food was so good I forgot about the wait once it was served. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet. But I love the Wok with vegetables and white sauce. I've ordered it with chicken and then with pork and both are good. The vegetables are cook crisp tender and the meal was served piping hot. read more

Very poor customer service. Was treated very poorly by waitress Thought we were being very patient waiting for our dinner for almost an hour.was polite when asking about our dinner. While everyone coming in behind was being served. After I asked about our dinner, she started telling lies on why ours wasn't ready. proceeded to be rude and ignore our table while be friendly and taking care of other tables except ours. She went and got someone else to close out our table. and when I tried to talk to the owner about how rude her waitress was. The waitress played dumb. She was very disrespectful. read more
