The owner personally waited on us and she was very attentive very friendly. We have a lot in common. We both love food she cooks, I eat! I've been dying to try this place for 20 years. Just happened to be driving through at the right time. Food was very good. I even tried some local round eye Finger steaks at the Chinese restaurant. I like the Chinese food much better. Avoid this place at all costs! Thought I'd get some Orange chicken & that's where I went wrong. I don't know what the sauce was but it was nasty & no orange flavor. It was so disgusting, I went back to my airbnb where it came back up! We got Pepsi out of a can that was poured into the glass because apparently the fountain wasn't working. Day later my stomach is still not ok. McDonalds would have been better food and better on the wallet! Holy crap it was expensive! This place USED to be delicious and cooked to order. Now it is TERRIBLE! They cook all the fried meats HOURS before they serve it. I got Mandarin Chicken last night and I could not eat it. Don't waste your money! This palace is so expensive and the food IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! The egg flour soup was so salty, it tasted like chicken broth mixed with a dissolved chicken bouillon cube and the egg was not at eggs, the texture of it was more like flavorless coconut flakes. Plus My poor husband got so sick from his meal, he ordered orange chicken. I don't know what they brought him but it didn't look or taste like orange chicken.. he didn't even eat but maybe 4 bites if that and was sick all night. The other person with us also got sick from the pineapple shrimp, which by the way was missing the pineapple and texture was chewy. Not how shrimp should be. I tried the egg foo young and it wasn't very good either, it tasted like half cooked shredded potatoes mixed with tons of onion and burnt eggs covered in tasteless gravy. The only decent thing we got was pork and seeds.. and I'm pretty sure that cuz it's not made in house! I will say the waitress did her best but clearly isn't used to a lot of dine in because she seemed overwhelmed. This classic little restaurant is an old school Chinese joint. We tried many different dishes and they were all very traditional, old time Chinese Food in America. Golden Horse is a welcome part of Weiser. It's wonderful to have the option in our little town, and my family and I have always been received and waited on well. They are very generous with their portions, and I will say that after having lived in several different towns in multiple states that it is at least on par with, or better than, other family owned Chinese restaurants I've eaten at. They do well with Americanized staples overall, though they are sometimes inconsistent. Their sides are great, especially the burrito-thick egg rolls. The chicken fried rice is great comfort food, too. There are minor things, like the (infrequent) inconsistency, that I would dock a star for, but they are more than made up for by their dedication to providing Weiser with variety when you want to eat out without leaving town. Everyone is short staffed, and everyone is adapting right now. They, like everyone else, are doing what they can. They do not deserve their current average rating of 2.5 stars. If you have a negative experience here, I would encourage you to take it with a grain of salt. read more

My experience there was very bad. My girlfriend and I had spent the whole day in the sun, and we were looking forward to some good food. An acquaintance had recommended the Golden Horse. The prices were cheap, and I ordered for about $9 a combination of Cantonese noodles, spare ribs, and an egg roll. The meal was bad and in particular, the spare ribs were so bad and so full of fat that I complained, and a woman who I presume was the owner came out. She started arguing with me, and agreed to take away the cost of the spare ribs. I was really ticked off by her confrontational attitude, especially since I have had businesses too and have always believed that the customer is always right. I guess that at the Golden Horse, the customer is always wrong. In addition, the environment was dirty and old. Do your self a favor and steer wide and clear of this restaurant. read more

Can't beat the two item special for $5.55 all day long! Numerous items to choose from. They have the best pork and seeds around. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Nan: I can't remember what I had. I do remember they had crummy music. Well, it was Christmas after all. Oh yeah, I recall now, I had a plate of fried rice. That's it. Apparently nothing memorable. Which is a good thing, really, because if it was really bad I'd remember. But I would not drive all the way up to Weiser just to eat here. Nic: You can say that again, about the music. The whole Mormon Tabernacle choir was having a go at it in my ear! I had a combo meal: one of those house salads (iceberg with salad dressing), rice and probably some chicken thing. Like Nan said, nothing memorable. I can't even remember what we had to be in Weiser for, but it wasn't for the Chinese food. All in all, not bad, but nothing special. This place is naastay! The waitress working there knew nothing about the menu, I had to figure she had never eaten the food herself. Most everything on the Chinese portion of the menu has the same ingredients and is topped with this gross brown gravy. Their version of orange chicken was a deep fried frozen chicken ball with some weird red sauce splattered across some of the pieces, there was nothing "orange" about it. My daughter said it tasted like doughnuts. Everything was a disappoint and I was embarrassed to have taken our out of town guests there. They even staple their hand written menu specials all over the walls. I can only assume that some people don't mind it because they have no idea what FRESH Chinese food tastes like. On 8/28/2019went in for lunch around 1:30 pm. They were no too busy and we ordered from the lunch special menu (no special orders) as we had appointment. This place is a dump, very old looking, maintenance of the dining area very bad, heavens knows what the kitchen looks like. The waitress took about 5 minutes to bring us a menu (not too bad) and took our order right away and brought our drinks promptly. My wife tried to use the rest room but came back right away and told be it was horrible and she would not use it under any circumstance. Then the wait began, remember very few people in the restaurant at that time, after 30 minutes and people getting served that came in after us, I asked the waitress what the problem was, she said our food would be right out. After getting the food my wife, who had ordered chow mien and pork fried rice, noticed that was very little meat in either dish, which was true. I had ordered BBQ pork and pork fried rice. The BBQ was mostly fat, gristle and bone, mostly inedible. The fried rice was okay, but as before there was a shortage of any meat. My wife could not eat her lunch at all and I ate only parts of mine. However the ice tea was good. We will not be back and don't recommend this establishment to our friends. read more
