What a cute place to find in the sleepy Saturday night town of Payette! Downtown Payette is what Caldwell once looked like before investors went in and built more businesses. The streets are dark and very few places are open and that makes me sad because this could be such an adorable old town downtown vibe for locals! So don't miss this restaurant towards the end of Main Street and then hop across the street to Hammer Time for family fun with axe throwing! El Kamaron has done a great job with their interior decor, seating layout, has a full bar, and an extensive menu that includes quite a bit of seafood options! It's the Torres Mariscos that sold me on trying this place and it didn't disappoint! This is a menu item that you'd see regularly in a beach town in Mexico like in Nayarit, MX! It was loaded with shrimp, octopus, and crab. I was so excited to just eat the meats that I didn't even want crackers or chips. Just let me feast on the meats with the avocado, cucumber, onion and tomato and I'm in heaven! I'll be back for this item alone! I also ordered a holiday specialty drink called the cranberry Paloma and I loved it. It was beautifully presented with a dehydrated orange slice and floating cranberries with a Chamoy and Tajin rim. I tossed my straw to the side so I could enjoy each sip with the rim! The staff ate so lovely and friendly with smiles and always ask how you're doing and if you need anything! You order at the table but pay at the bar counter closest to the door. There were two birthday celebrations going on and each birthday baby (adults in their 60's) received a cute colorful shot in a champagne flute and the entire restaurant sang to them. Fried trout appetizer was a good surprise!! Enchilada with rice, refried beans and salad - excellently prepared by chef. My wife had chile relleno Enjoyed a Draft Modello and watermelon margarita. How do we get this Lucky to have a great restaurant like this in our little town? I love this place. The atmosphere is light and airy, very family friendly. it's got great vibes. I love the food, and what a menu! I tend to always order the fajitas and the ceviche, but I'm really wanting to branch out and try some of their other dishes. It's a super interesting menu with a number of things I've never tried before. Everything I've eaten here has been exceptionally good. I've tried the tacos the fajitas (outstanding) and the ceviche so far. They have excellent seafood, fresh and flavorful like it just came off the boat. Staff are very nice and accommodating. You get to have a cocktail with your meal, which is nice. The margarita is one of their specialties, which I suppose is no surprise. A couple months ago I was looking for a good Mexican place and found this one on Yelp. It had great reviews until one review in particular stopped me in my tracks. Someone said that, because they serve so much fish here, everything has a slightly fishy taste. That one review was enough to prevent me from going. Fast forward a couple months, I had forgotten about it and my husband suggested we go here. We ordered our food and everything was DELICIOUS. Our waiter was so nice and attentive, our drinks were always filled and he checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. I got chicken tacos and my husband got a burrito. They were awesome. The chips and salsa were so flavorful and the refied beans were so good too. I loved their Mexican rice as well. AND they have coke products which is always a plus! The next day, I went to eat my leftovers. I took a bite of the chicken and immediately could taste fish. I had to spit it out. SO, here is my concluding review: This place is awesome and doesn't have a fishy taste UNTIL you eat the leftovers. So go, order your food, but eat all of it at the restaurant or you'll regret it. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Their food is fresh and delicious. Their homemade salsa is sooooo good! Amazing drinks are also available and I highly recommend their margaritas. The service has always been phenomenal. It's a family ran restaurant and they work so hard to give a good experience. We eat there anytime we can, but also frequently get our food to go as we are busy in the summer and fall months. It's a cute little place and is very clean and inviting. I had three tacos with rice and beans. All very authentic. The tacos ( asada, carnitas, and pastor) were super tasty. Nothing fancy. Came with cilantro and onion. Salsa tasted good with a slight kick. I spoke with server who said they opened 7 months ago then had to close due to COVID. Such a bummer. Been open again for a short time. It reminds me of restaurants in Mexico. I wish them well. I didn't give 5 stars because the server didn't check on us until we asked for check and my drink was gone long before. This is a Very Happy Place. From the minute you are greeted as you walk in the front door, you are immediately engulfed in a festive atmosphere where mariachi music is playing in the background. There is usually a soccer game playing on the TV. People at each table are actually engaged with each other, laughing and conversing, enjoying their food. People linger well after...it truly is not just a meal it is an experience. This was our 4th visit, and the wait staff is always very attentive without being intrusive. The food is original, has always been fresh and delicious. The portions are plentious...My husband and I always share a plate and have leftovers. I compare Mexican restaurants by their chili rellenos. I put them towards the top of places I've been. I had carne asada and as the menu tells, they use a chuck steak which is a bit touch but full of flavor. Their rice has seafood undertones. The only complaint I have, besides the empty Modelo Negra tap, is that the music is a bit loud if you want to talk to someone across the table plus the sound comes from the speakers built into the TV. Wife and I decided to stop in Saturday evening to give it a try. Was amazed by the cleanliness and decor. This was very nice inside compared to dull appearance from outside. Don't let the outside fool you....this place really knows how to cook! We have been eating here twice a week for over a year now, and are never disappointed! My favorite has to be chicken fajita's, the spices are incredible, chicken done perfectly and veggies very fresh! Hubby rotates his menu but he really loves the Carnitas and they have delicious beans and rice and the salsa is to die for! I literally get a craving for their chips and salsa if I don't get it at least once a week! But get in here early....after 5PM it gets very busy and it's not that big of a place! read more

Just opened in downtown Payette. Six of us had dinner last night. Think the grade was 3 for and 3 no go. Me, I had the shrimp tower. Celery, shrimp, octopus, spices, squid and a bunch of other stuff put into a cylinder and taken off just before serving.....hence the tower. Very tasty and followed my low carb program. This was a Thursday night with an almost full house. A couple of the diners nit picked their beans and rice, but my was just fine. I will go back and try their Mexican shrimp cocktail. read more
