Super fun place to eat. Stopped there for lunch on our motorcycles. This place has not only character but great food!

Li's is an odd little joint inside the unassuming Golden Rule building on Cambridge's main drag. We have stopped here a couple of times on a Sunday driving back from camping at Hells Canyon. Owner Liliang Sun operated his restaurant in Council for five years before moving to Cambridge in 2022. He's a one-man band, serving as host, order-taker and cook. The menu isn't extensive but offers a good variety. I ordered Kung Pao chicken while my wife and her friend ordered the general's chicken. The Kung Paolo was ok, but lacking the flavor and heat of the traditional dish. I liked that he added in-season asparagus, even though that's not a traditional ingredient. The dishcame with a choice of white or fried rice. The only diffwas a splash of soy sauce and a bit of scrambled egg. It didn't look fried and lacked green onions, meat and mushrooms. The general's chicken, an American-Chinese invention, was coated with a sweet sauce reminding me of 1960s sweet and sour. Mr. Li is nice and there were a number of customers who came in to eat and took orders to go while we were there. Surprised to find this in small town of Cambridge but if you are on the way home from and what not, this is a good stop. Selections are limited but are good. Hubby liked the honey almond prawns and I had General Tso Chicken. The sauce is good but I am just not a big fan of fried(coated)chicken/pork/beef. Overall is good. read more

I stopped in a few years ago with my crew coming back from a wildfire. It was great food so this time traveling alone I got something to go. It's still great food. He expanded since then and the place looks great. Makes the best food around. The next time through I will stop again and stay to eat. He's a great humble guy that makes great food. Update: After spending all night on the toilet in my hotel room I'm not sure if it was worth it. Yeah it tasted good going down but good lord the stomach cramps, vomiting, battery acid coming out of my butt. I almost went to the hospital. It sucks while traveling because you can't stop every 5 minutes to crap. Good lord I've never been in so much pain or discomfort from something I ate. read more

Solid Chinese while traveling through! Li was super friendly, and when we drove by again later in the day, recognized our truck and waived. As soon as we sat he gave us fresh watermelon. Service was quick and food was good! I wanted chicken and veg, which wasn't on the menu but he made it! Spicy shrimp didn't come with veg, but we requested and he obliged! Li's doesn't disappoint! Food was wonderful and Mr. Li is very nice and accommodating. Business was slow the day we were there so we had to wait for his fryers to heat up. While we waited he gave us fresh orange slices and some freshly steamed crab to eat while we waited. As a small town business he would prefer you pay with cash or check as the card company takes their percent from his business. But if you do t have either card is just fine. We ordered from the shorter menu, Sesame Chicken and Spicy Shrimp. The Chicken battered and both were in a sweet sauce, not the type of Chinese food I normally eat. That said, it was expertly prepared and served promptly. The batter was light, the sauce not too thick, the vegetables crisp. The chicken, prawns and vegetables were first-rate ingredients. Portions were generous - a good value. Menu includes beer. This seems to be a one-man operation. The proprietor speaks only some English but was hardworking and friendly. This restaurant is owned and ran by a one man show, a man named Li. He is truly a gem and has such a giving soul. So far I have tried his honey almond shrimp which is perfectly crispy and creamy. His general tsao chicken packs a small spicy punch but it's perfect. His mongolian chicken is sweet, tangy, and crispy. This is a no frills restaurant but Li truly strives to make the customer happy. He has always gone above and beyond in his generosity with providing fresh cut watermelon or crispy wonton skins on the house. Cambridge is blessed to have this gentleman and his food! read more
