We had dinner at Mandarin the other night. I hate to say but the food was awful and nearly inedible. The Chow Mein was 90% CABBAGE! There was basically zero pork, a couple pieces of celery and a few bean sprouts. I was hungry and couldn't get through half of it. The fried rice was all stuck together and I couldn't get through it either. This has happened a couple times now. We won't be back. Very disappointed in Mandarin restaurant. read more

This is the worst Chinese food ever. My pork chow main had no pork . Flavor was nasty. We need a decent hunan or mandarin .

Since my review, the quality of the dishes have diminished greatly. I can't even honestly say they're much better than the offerings in Ontario directly now. So, unless you plan on traveling to the Boise area, you're stuck with Panda Express. read more

Food in this joint has never let me down. It is better when you eat in because it's super fresh and hot of course. The ginger chicken is AMAZING if you love ginger. Our normal go to is fried rice mandarin chicken all white and an egg roll. Service is good and they are busy. The place has always been average in the cleanliness dept. nothing horrible. read more

Food was great, plates were a bit small proportions reflected that. Maybe I'm used to bringing food home from Chinese but I know times change prices go up and people do what they have to to stay open and if the food is good that is important so I probably eat to much. I'll be going back for more though the choices have a little to with this. I mean I live in weiser it's 15 to get there but if I went somewhere else I don't know how many miles it would be. The service was exceptional, professional, courteous and genuinely nice. We ordered a meal for two and were quite surprised at the portions in fact took quite a bit home. It was served hot and extremely flavorful. We highly recommend and will definitely return and bringing others with!!! The decor is less important to us, the focus is the dining experience and the company we are with. It is simply decorated and very clean. read more

Awful, left without eating the meal. The hot tea was not Chinese tea as requested, it was some horrid tasting black tea concoction. I eased for ice water with lemon to get the taste out of my mouth and got a glass of water no lemon, what ever jut roll with it...so one sip obviously not filtered water, tasted straight from the tap. Water tasted horrible, funny enough as water shouldn't actually have an overwhelming taste. We ordered the mandarin chicken dinner for 2. I asked if it was tasty and was told it's very good. For starters some sort of re-engineered cream cheese wonton were served, tried one not bad but the dipping sauce oh God!!! Tasted like Kern's fruit nectar thinned with water then thickened with cornstarch. I told the hubby crispy outside and tasty cream cheesy goodness inside but definitely avoid the sauce....straight up nasty tasting. Food arrived, mushy fried rice and mandarin chicken definitely not mandarin chicken, it was a greasy chicken thigh (I don't eat thighs) covered in what??? That's right same nasty dipping sauce served with the cream cheese wontons. How do you serve this slop??? Ended up leaving with out eating and owner/manager didn't make us pay. I would have paid for the wontons and taken them to go, that was the only edible item served. read more

I broke down In Payette decided to go to the Mandarin restaurant, while I waited for truck to be fixed. I am forced to be on a no sugar no carb diet due to health reasons, when I asked the host/waitress if there were either in the dish/sauce she rolled her eyes and had a horrible attitude towards me, when I pointed it out to her, she said it was me with the attitude, I have been in customer service off and on my whole life and never thought about saying something like that to anyone, if I could give zero stars I would, but can only go as low as one so that's what they are getting from me, I was insulted and will NEVER give my hard earned money to them or ever recommend them! read more

Great service, prices, location and portions. Some dishes you can usually get at a Chinese restaurant are done well here, but there are some here that I would not recommend. Hub and I were near Payette and decided to drop into the Mandarin Restaurant for a bite. So glad we did! The menu looks like any Chinese restaurant you've ever been to. But, don't let that fool you. What arrived before us was some of the best Chinese food we've eaten. They have family style combination dishes or you can build your own. We chose our own combo consisting of pork fried rice, egg roll, and Mandarin chicken which was ample for two people....especially since we were on the road and had no way to schlep food home. Every component of our plate was elevated. The Mandarin chicken was not those little nuggets slathered in gloppy sauce. This was a full chicken breast, breaded lightly, deep fried, sliced into strips, and drizzled with the most delicate and flavorful sweet and sour sauce (did I detect apricot?). The pork fried rice had a rich smoky flavor and the egg roll was huge with more filling than coating. The staff was delightful and the interior of the restaurant immaculate. It would be worth a trip to Payette just for another visit to the Mandarin. read more

This was our first time at the restaurant and stopped in based on the reviews. The place was crowded but we were able to still seat immediately. The waitress was a young female, extremely nice and helpful to everyone in the place but over tasked with about 30 people in the restaurant. She quickly got the help of I assume the owner and everyone was taken care of quickly. We ordered our food (#9) which was out fast and definitely plentiful, 2 large 2 go boxes after we ate. We had the broccoli beef, pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, fried shrimp, wontons, salad and pork & seeds. The broccoli beef was the best part of the meal, seasoned well. The rest of the food was good except the fried food had a bit of a strange aftertaste and a greasy film feeling. All in all I would try this place again and give some other items a try. If you like a friendly atmosphere and people, big portions and great prices then give this place a try. read more
