This place is definitely top 5 fav place for my husband!!he wouldn't stop mentioning about this place and how he missed their spaghetti!! We went around 5 pm right when they opened it was not busy, but maybe it's better to make reservations on weekends or dinner time!! We got pasta and I really love the red sauce one more than mine. Mine is pretty good too but it's just not as good as the red sauce one. The whole restaurant is sooo pretty and perfect for date night or girls night! It's a cute hidden gem in Fremont area

Haerfest is the perfect date restaurant for a quiet romantic night with delicious, authentic Italian food. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for a last minute date on a Sunday and were surprised that we were easily able to make reservations for 7pm. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived which was so surprising because it had such a cute aesthetic and the food was absolutely delicious. We were both super hungry so we skipped appetisers and went straight for the pasta and it didn't disappoint. The Tonnarelli was what both of us were eyeing and it delivered in every way, from the freshness of the tomato to the perfect consistency of the sauce. We also decided to be adventurous and try the Ricotta Gnocchi despite the fact that both of us are not huge fans of ricotta, me especially. I loved the base of the paste and the flavours were great, I think I just got bored of the dense texture of the ricotta after the first few bites. Our server was super friendly and recommended me an incredible white wine to go with dinner that really cut the acidity of the pasta. The sauces being to tangy and acidic was my boyfriend's only complaint about the food, but he was the one driving. I really loved the pasta here and can't wait to come back and try more of the dishes on the menu!

I had high expectations for this place as I love many of the GH restaurants. However, I was unimpressed by our meal that we had here. Service was perfect; ambience was lovely -- classy, yet not pretentious, warm and inviting. It was the food that was underwhelming. We got bread service and Waygu tartare to start. The honey butter go the bread was divine! That touch of sweetness with the butter was scrumptious! The tartare was a tad too onion-y and the chips that was served with it was soooooo salty! Almost inedible. For our mains, we got the Rigatoni and the Pork shoulder, which were nothing memorable. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly, but the flavors were just okay. The rigatoni was made with Njuda, which I felt was barely there. The pork chop was very fatty, but had good flavors and was cooked perfectly. It was served with these giant beans, which had lackluster flavors. I wish it came with some sort of salad or a nice acid touch somewhere, but it just felt a bit heavy and one-note. Overall, it was just okay. I appreciate the excellent service, though.

Was interested in their restaurant week menu, so came in for dinner. The place itself is cozy and pretty intimate. I liked their small open kitchen where you can see people plating, cooking, and prepping dessert. Service throughout the meal was kinda slow, but maybe to be expected as it seemed like there were only 5 people running the entire restaurant, kitchen included. Appetizers! Salad was light and refreshing, nothing crazy. Smoked whitefish had a nice smoky flavor, and the crostini was so crispy I could barely hear myself think while biting it haha. I really like the sauce on the broccolini, but some parts of it were very tough. Main! I had the salmon and it was so good. The skin was super crispy, the salmon itself was perfectly cooked and tender, and the squash and little side of vegetables added a good balance of sweetness and acidity to the bite. Dessert! I got the olive oil cake which was sadly on the drier side. I did enjoy the fresh whipped cream and the citrus + pistachio that was on top. Overall, some really solid food but also some small things that were a little disappointing.

Boyfriend lives around the corner and we've been wanting to try for forever. Went in for the late night happy hour and left even happier :) At the bar from 9-10, you can get pasta and garlic bread with a glass of wine for $25. We had the Campanelle and tonnareli - both were amazing. I usually like a white sauce but was super impressed by both! We also anticipated small portion sizes for such a good happy hour deal, but we both left very full. Not to mention the service was amazing- each thing that was put in front of us came with an explanation as well. 100% recommend and would love to come back! AMAZING date spot. Also bonus points for the picture of R

We had dinner at Haerfest last night, and feel sad for missing out for 2 years of delicious possibility. It's going on our rotation of restaurants. It's a pretty little place, perfect for anything after work happy hour, a friends meet up and with comfortably low date lighting too. First, the service is excellent - everyone clearly believes in the vision and enthusiastically supports it. The host was friendly and knowledgeable and changed our lives with the recommendation of the Pears, a salad from the appetizer menu. Adorably, he says he asks the chef to prepare one for his mom's visits. And now we know why - it's addictive. It's fresh, crunchy with celery and almonds with a light hit of mouthwatering vinegar. Finally, a salad where celery works - who knew. I'd like it daily please. The charred carrots were amazing, like they were actually charred, because you know you have to be brave to go beyond a deep brown and stop before burnt. The cumin in the Dukkha spice was so warm with the honey. The cocktails were delicious, and as a bonus interesting without trying too hard. The tonnerelli is spectacular (made in house, goes without saying). Such a flex to get pasta that small done perfectly, the bouncy chew of the perfectly al dente. The really notable thing about that beef bolognese that it's very cooked down, so it's just (ha "just") an umami bomb, the beef, parm and tomato oozing into each other and you wishing it'd never end. We shared a plate, we agreed that next time we each get our own - and it's a generous serving, which is exactly what you want with that dish. The beef had a very lovely smoky flavor with a rich pan reduction that the server noted includes ginger, so not just a basic red wine reduction, and very nicely roasted fingerling potatoes (which for my taste could have used a salt bath, but I like salty potatoes). We soldiered on through to a lovely tawny port and the tiramisu, which was a dense custardy situation with surprising tiny sprinkle of sea salt.

Repeat guest! Love to arrive by 6 for a quieter, less busy setting. The staff from the waiter, to the chef, to Ryan the GM -- always hospitable and great. We sat at the counter so we could enjoy the chefs cooking. So fascinating to see them operate a full restaurant with a small kitchen. We ordered the charred leeks (WOW amazing), mussels (I'm not typically a mussels fan but I really liked this dish), and two pasta dishes (couldn't enjoy thoroughly as we were too full by this point!). We ended the meal with the olive oil cake, which was so good. Love coming here, and bringing friends for their first time. One of my staples in Seattle. The staff makes it worth the visit!

    Agnolotti and Tonnarelli
    Sabrina P.

My husband and I came here on a Friday for happy hour after seeing their "$25 carbs & corks" happy hour special on their door. Note- you must sit at the bar to partake in happy hour from 5-6 and 9-10 PM daily! We both got the white sangria as our wine, and then I had the agnolotti (stuffed pasta with ricotta cheese and caramelized onions) with leeks and snap peas, while my husband got the tonnarelli with beef bolognese. Both were delicious- I loved the fresh veggies on the agnolotti and am a sucker for ricotta cheese! Every pasta for this happy hour special came with a thick slab of garlic bread that was easy to bite into and dip into the pasta sauce. Our server/bartender was attentive and helped give great recommendations on what to order, and ultimately the great service, clean aesthetic, and location near the 62 bus route will definitely have us coming back for more happy hours!

Chocolate moose cake served as part of Valentines Day Prix Fixe menu.

I made reservations here for Valentines Day on or about Jan. 15 and the earliest we could get was a table at 8:30, which is not a problem for me. I don't mind eating later. We walked in the door at 8:32 and there were two couples in front of us also waiting to be seated. I don't know if they had reservations or not. The ambiance is modern with the counter and kitchen viewable right when you walk in. It took about 5 minutes for the hostess to get us seated. We had specifically booked a TABLE and they seated us at the counter after seating the other two couples at tables in front of us. They didn't seem to acknowledge this at all. The server then proceeded to spill water on the counter in front of me while he was seating us, and he didn't clean it up. I was feeling annoyed! The Valentines Day menu was Prix Fixe for $98 per person. I don't recall seeing the Prix Fixe menu on their website when I booked in Jan., but that's ok, I am not picky food wise. We ordered a bottle of wine to split as a couple and one of each dish on the Prix Fixe menu. The drink menu was a bit limited, especially on the wine side. The appetizer course featured all four dishes on the menu. Three of the four dishes were brought out to us almost immediately. I figured they'd bring the fourth (crab) soon thereafter. We finished the three dishes they brought us and the server asked us which was our favorite. I had to ask for the crab, otherwise they never would've brought it. My favorite, BTW, was the Beef Tartare. By the time we finished the crab and they brought the pastas, I was a glass of wine in and felt more relaxed. Service was more consistent after this and both pastas were great! My girlfriend is pickier about pasta, especially making sure it is cooked al dente, and both dishes were perfecto! We were already feeling full at this point! The scallops and waygu came next. Both were rich in taste and helped round out our paletes for the night. Finally, dessert - the chocolate mousse cake came in the shape of a heart for Valentines Day. It was amazing!! It had strawberries in it and it tasted exactly like a good piece of chocolate out of a Valentines Day chocolate heart. Yum!! I have a huge sweet tooth and was impressed by this dessert! My girlfriend likes savory flavors more and enjoyed the olive oil cake for herself. We weren't feeling ready to go home yet, so we ordered another drink. I ordered the AE Martini. I don't order martinis too often, but this one is the best I can ever remember having! Not too bitter, not too briney, and the stuffed olives with blue cheese were great too! I would recommend this martini! Overall, the food was great! I would recommend and return to Haerfest, and I'm optimistic that I could receive 5 star service on a night that is not as busy as Valentines Day. I look forward to trying the regular menu and updating my review when I get the chance to return!

    Orecchiette pasta

My partner and I were looking forward to treating ourselves to a fancy dinner to celebrate a special occasion, but we left Haerfest feeling disappointed. We had mixed opinions about the dishes we ordered, and many of the portion sizes were much smaller than we were expecting, especially given the prices. For appetizers, we got the Brussels sprouts and the charred carrots. The Brussels sprouts were pretty good, and came in a decently sized portion. But the carrots weren't anything special, and moreover, the portion size was laughably small. We were surprised to pay $17 for what was probably a grand total of 2 (artfully splayed out) carrots. For the main course, we got the orecchiette pasta and the fried chicken. The pasta had a good al dente texture, and came with a tasty sauce and sausage meat. The portion size for the pasta was uncharacteristically normal compared to everything else we ordered. Meanwhile, the portion of fried chicken we got (for $42 nonetheless!) was tiny, and the chicken itself was shockingly bland - like, it truly had zero flavor! The thick, mayonnaise-y, lemon-y sauce that it came with was good, and it was possible to salvage the chicken by dunking it in the sauce, but we would have normally expected the chicken to carry at least some flavor on its own. We were fully intending to splurge on a nice meal that day, but we couldn't help feeling that the meal wasn't a very good value for what it cost and what we got. We'd give our experience at Haerfest a 2 out of 5.

They really pushed the bottled water but the tap water was great. Italian fried chicken was off the hook.

Porchetta - Amazing tender pork belly w/ crispy pork skin
    Eric F.

My wife and I recently enjoyed our 26-year wedding anniversary at Haerfest, and we couldn't be happier. The food and service were amazing. My wife is from the Philippines, and we were both very impressed with the Porchetta. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, and the crispy pork skin was a perfect complement to the tender pork belly. We also highly recommend the charred leeks as an appetizer. It was so good we almost wanted to get an extra order, but it was all just the right portion of food.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I am so glad I finally did! We ordered a few things to share and every single dish was delicious! Shrimp toast: this was a great appetizer to share! Very crispy and the sauces on the side gave it a more complex flavor! It came with a sweet mayo and chili sauce. The chili sauce is definitely spicy if you can't handle spice so beware on how much you're using if that's the case. I also really enjoyed the slaw that came with it, it was very refreshing and it had a bit of sweet mayo flavor to it, I think it's the same as the dipping sauce but I could be wrong! Fried oysters: these were delicious! I think fried oysters can be a hit or miss for me, sometimes the interior can feel too dry and feel kinda of mushy-like, like I'm eating bread rather than seafood. But this had great texture on the inside while being crispy on the outside! The sauce on the side tasted like a pepper aioli which gave the oyster a nice tang *the fried dishes were great but after having a few, it definitely felt heavy, so this would be something I share with someone else vs eating it on my own Smoked salmon belly dip: I really enjoyed this! It was creamy and had chunks of salmon in it. It wasn't too dense or thick so it was perfect for scooping onto the kettle chips. The kettle chips were lightly salted so it was the perfect combo with the dip. Clam chowder: wow I absolutely loved this! This is different than any other chowder I've had. While I love a white creamy chowder from your typical seafood places, the base being a fish stock definitely brought out the seafood flavor vs a white chowder feeling like a cream base. This chowder still felt creamy and rich without the seafood flavor being overpowered. Rockfish bowl: the crab rolls were sold out by the time we made it to the register so we opted for this instead and I am so glad that we did. I didn't really expect this to blow me away but this was such a refreshing dish that balanced out the fried dishes we got. It used viet flavors that you may typically find in a banh mi which made it refreshing and had great texture from all the different fresh ingredients and fried garlic. I also loved how the fish came in patty form mixed with pork, it was flavorful and moist. I love any type of fish tofu/patty, I think it really makes fish flavorful when it sometimes can have a really mild flavor. I'll definitely be back to try the crab rolls!

So when I woke up still craving shellfish, RockCreek was the call. It was the right one. A dozen oysters to start: Kumamoto and Shigoku. Clean -- no grit, no sand. Get it. It was so delicious. Then came the crab Benedict. The side salad alone was worth writing home about -- big, buttery, peppery leaves draped in one of those feather-light vinaigrettes that sounds simple until you try to replicate it at home and realize you can't. But the real star of the entire plate was the potatoes. Crispy outside, genuinely fluffy inside, seasoned with conviction. A masterpiece is not too strong a word. Closed with a glass of pink wine. Was eyeing the bottle with the piglet on the label, but it was bottle-only -- a distinction I find increasingly arbitrary as a former server and bartender. One day that policy will be a relic. The European flair and intimate setting (only about 10-12 tables) make it feel like a well-kept secret. The quality is amazing! Everything is locally sourced and prepared with care. I had the cod, and it was truly a "melt in your mouth" experience. While it's on the pricier side, the value is there when you consider the craftsmanship and local support. The service was knowledgeable and warm; you can tell they have a lot of regulars, which speaks volumes. An amazing experience for sure!

It is somewhat difficult to get a reservation, because the space here is very small and packed with tables. The one downside is that it is a little tight and can be difficult to hear. But I'll take that for the opportunity to eat here. And as long as you go in with the mindset that you might drop some serious coin on the meal, you're gonna have a phenomenal time. Because we were so close to our dining neighbors, I was actually able to ask them what they were eating since it looked so good. And that's how we ended up with some mind blowing fritters. A perfect appetizer to start the night. They have a great selection of wines that are actually reasonably priced to buy by the bottle. I'm pretty sure I saw someone taking one home that they drank a few bottles out of also, which is a first. I was impressed by the creativity of the dishes as well. I'm not one to be impressed by cabbage, or ever order it, but the charred cabbage looked enticing. The cheese on the bottom, seasoning, and dates transformed this ordinary vegetable into a star. And of course you gotta see what they're doing with the seasonal veggies. I can't seem to ever cook squash the right way, but they crafted it into the ideal consistency where it was almost meaty. That New York Strip was out of this world though... the garlic sauce that accompanied it was just enough of a flavor enhancer that it didn't take away from a steak that was cooked to the ideal temp. I'll be back for more!!

We chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful sunny day and the scenery of South Lake Union and the space needle. Our waiter and hostess were incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout the entire visit, made us feel welcomed. The ambiance was lovely and the music was nice. And most importantly, the food was actually pretty good, full of great flavors yet surprisingly light, and nothing over powering. When the chicken came out a bit late, the staff apologized and comped a dessert and coffee for us which was really nice of them, it's such a thoughtful touch. They also brought out a candle and a personalized sign for our occasion, which made the moment feel personable and memorable. Overall, the ambiance, service, and food all came together beautifully. It was a memorable first visit and we'll absolutely be back for sure, forgot how nice PNW was on a beautiful sunny day. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in a stunning setting overlooking South Lake Union, and if you're a pet lover like us, this place was pet friendly as we saw other guests bring their dogs for the outdoor seating. Fyi as a heads up, it's a bit pricey with an automatic 22% service charge applied (excludes gratuity). Thanks for the nice experience, you guys did a great job!

The host did not want to seat us and tried to put us on a waitlist, even though the restaurant was practically empty. I counted maybe 5 parties max. When we told her we couldn't wait, she seated us without issue, which made the whole thing even more confusing. The service was terrible. It took forever to get drinks, and they were just okay. Most of the staff was hanging out at the bar for some reason, and one of them had an attitude when I simply asked where the bathroom was. Just truly so bad and hurtful. I usually give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, but this was not acceptable. We got the radish salad, and my husband got the oysters. He said they were amazing, and honestly that was the only highlight of our time there. Then the bill came and was completely wrong. Not one or two small errors, majorly wrong. We left feeling disrespected and disappointed, and we won't be making that mistake again. I truly hope things improve, because they have a lovely space.

starting off, i was pleasantly surprised by the portion of sourdough bread given prior to the meal…read more- as I wasn't expecting that the bread wasn't anything special - but i did like the outside; found it to be pretty crispy. also, i liked the fact that they gave you butter as a dip, although it wasn't easy to spread it on the sourdough as it was just one big block i thought the main part of this dish, the salmon sliders, were quite good, however this came in three separate 'sliders', each with a base of rosemary bread, a sliced tomato, and a portion of salmon, topped with pesto the actual salmon itself was ok - personally i thought it was a bit stringy and chewy, but otherwise not bad. being brushed with oil certainly helped with the taste however, the other aspects of the slider were fantastic normally, i don't like tomatoes, but it fit really well with this dish. the flavor was there but not overpowering i also quite liked the pesto as a condiment - there was a solid amount on there - and it added a nutty texture that was good the best part of these sliders, however, was the rosemary bread. this was exquisitely good - it was crispy, herby, buttery, and served as an incredible base for the sandwich as a whole. i absolutely loved every bite of this the other thing that was a great touch was placing the sliders on the bottom of the bread rather than the 'more fluffy' side. this ensured that the bread wouldn't get soggy from the tomato/salmon and had it retain its crunchiness to the maximum three sliders was also a pretty good portion size another thing i enjoyed was the salad. a lot of places think that lots of dressing, often oil, is necessary to make a good salad, but this place managed to deliver something that tasted really good and had nice flavor with the use of little to no dressing. i'm impressed at the end of my meal, i got a carrot cake from the dessert menu this was decently sized, and the cream cheese frosting on this had a wonderful flavor i didn't taste the carrot as much in the inside of the cake, but i could tell it was still baked well, and the frosting added a great touch i would say its more of a cupcake than a cake, however i came during happy hour, so for the price of about $14, the sourdough bread + the salmon sliders were a pretty good value i can't say the same for the carrot cake - as while it was good - about 9 dollars is a little too expensive for that

We come here a few times a year specifically for their happy hour - the prices are a bit higher than other spots, but you're paying for sustainably caught seafood, so it makes sense. This visit, we ordered a variety of happy hour items to share across the table: the crabby deviled eggs, crab cakes, salmon sliders, Manila clams, fried shrimp, calamari, and a side Caesar salad. Their complimentary sourdough bread basket is always a hit, too. The staff here is consistently friendly and welcoming, and the service is great every time. We've always been seated pretty quickly, and their outdoor patio facing Greenlake is perfect in the warmer months. Always a reliable spot for good seafood and a relaxed atmosphere.
