I asked for some advice from the server about what drink to get. I asked her which one was her favourite. She was really friendly and recommended the matcha drinks. I was in the mood for something with coffee flavour and luckily there was a matcha latte! The flavour was just right, and she even brought it directly to my table rather than calling it out and having me stand up to go get it. It was just a nice touch to the experience. I was able to enjoy my drink and read my book / write in my journal in peace! Peace is really what I needed today. I'm glad I was able to find it here :)

Not totally comfortable for long period but good for an hour or so. And you do want a quick turnover so more customers can dine in. I've been here a couple of times and it gets busier after 11 am. Quiet in the morning with most people having coffee to go. Service is great. They will bring your food and coffee to you when dining in which is unexpected. The flat white is ok, could do with more microfoam but it's good enough. The pastries are really nice. Get the croissant warm up for a better bite.

Pull apart was lighter than I expected. Other place's pull apart was so buttery, cheesy, however, this one was flaky and buttery, so, if you prefer light texture pull apart, you will like it. Cream cheese filling was nice accent. Pistachio loaf was more dense than I expected. It had pistachio whipped cream on top, so, cream helped loaf texture more smooth. Loaf had strong pistachio flavor. I liked whipped cream and loaf combination. Pesto and mozzalera swirl was a bit too salty for me. Dough was super flaky and buttery, I liked the dough texture so much, but filling could be more minder. Unfortunately, I did not have ferrero rocher danish. I heard that this one was the best. Mousse was so delicious and dough was very flaky and buttery. Overall, I think their pastries are always outstanding and good quality. The place was extremely busy and could not get a table. Next time, I wish I could dine-in.

A regular Hojicha Latte is around $8, a Matcha Latte is $9. I ordered their signature Cowdog Coffee ($9.50), which combines espresso with hojicha and vanilla. The flavour is quite unique--the roasted aroma of hojicha pairs surprisingly well with espresso, and the vanilla adds a subtle sweetness that ties everything together. It's an enjoyable drink, but at $9.50, it does feel a little overpriced. The West 4th location itself is fairly minimal. Compared to many trendy cafés in the city, it doesn't really have that aesthetic, photo-worthy atmosphere. One thing to note is that they clearly state there's no Wi-Fi and no power outlets, so it's definitely not a place to work or spend hours on your laptop. One thing I really appreciated, though, is their no-tipping policy, which is refreshing to see. I have a feeling a lot of people come here mainly for the branded to-go cups--they've become quite iconic. If you're drinking in, however, the drinks are simply served in standard glassware, so the experience isn't quite the same. I will probably come to try one of their matcha drinks, since that's what they're also known for. Overall, it's a solid café with an interesting signature drink, but between the premium prices and limited amenities, I don't think it's a place I'd visit regularly.

Croissant dough was a bit soggy and require more refinement. Service at Edmonds location was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I came here with a friend. She ordered a Coco Berry Matcha, and I had my "go to" favourite drink at any Waves Coffee house which is the Rooibos Frappe, made with yogurt. The Coco Berry Matcha is the Waves version of the what appears to be a somewhat viral drink right now. Basically, lots of places seem to be offering some kind of Match drink with a white layer and a red layer made from strawberries, or raspberries or maybe just red berries in general. My friend said her drink was not very good. The berry part of it was like jam. Huh? Jam in a drink? Weird! My Rooibos Frappe was awesome as usual. They usually give you the option of having it made with ice cream or yogurt. I have always found it to be tastier with the yogurt option so now I don't even wait for them to ask me how I'd like it done. I just tell them right away that I'd like it made with yogurt. Super unimpressed with my friend's report on the Coco Berry Matcha but since I've had multiple experiences at this shop before and they have generally all been good, I am still giving them a good rating for this first review.
