Provided me with $100 cash and the remaining $328 a post dated check so I had to wait for the following day to deposit. Like numerous other reviews their check bounced. Sally their owner gave me a song and dance about being in the hospital with her father. This excuse was also given to other customers. She said she will CashApp me the money. Liars and Fraud! I also sold my old car to them on June 18, 2025 and was promised $385. I received $100 in cash and a check for $285. The check bounced. I called to get this resolved and the manager is conveniently never in the office. Avoid at all costs. If you are a victim of their fraudulent practices, please press charges. If every company was like Hackensack Auto Wreckers the world would be a better place!! I found this company by a third-party company. I needed to junk a car that i purchased from a repair shop. That car broke down on route 80 and died in the middle lane. Six weeks after i purchased it I have been arguing with the place, where i purchased the car. I had the car towed back to them."So they would fix it for free" a lie, they just boxed the car between two other cars and the owner would not get on the phone with me. Just told someone there to tell me the engine is dead. Now comes the feel-good part of this review. Mike the gent who tows the cars, picked the car up and dropped the plates to my home. Great guy. I found the two brothers ,i am sorry i did not remember their names. Are really nice and honest folks. I even purchased a cheap car from them, I am very happy with the car. I like to give Sally a special shout out. She 100% went out of her way to help me.I told her a story about having trouble with the paperwork in the MV the last time i went. She filled out the paperwork for me and had the young lady who works there, make an appt for me with MV. Then printed out the Appt paper i needed. Sally really has a great heart. She really cares and treated me like family! BTW: This is a family run business, that has been open for decades. I hope i don't need their services for a long time, but when i do. We filled out online form to have a car junked on the CashforCars website. They in turn used a middle man that turns it over to a tow company for pick up. After some mix ups by CarsforCash, I decided to cancel the transaction altogether. After 9000 transfers, I finally got the phone number of "Hackensack Auto Mechanic, LLC," (they also go under Hackensack Auto Wreckers) and called them to cancel everything. I got this rude, obnoxious person (Neal), who after I said it's 2006 Ford, said OK (w/o even confirming who I was or address) hung up the phone. Called him back and in short he was a real wiseass, rude, and unprofessional. If that's the attitude for picking up a junked car, God knows what other nightmares exist here. read more

I have a 2001 Honda prelude, long story short, no one makes my parts anymore. I rear ended someone on 4/29/2017. I needed a new fender, headlight and hood. They ladies in the office are the best!! They're so sweet and genuinely care about their customers. Anyway, they had my headlight and fender the next day, which is awesome!!! Then I tried to look for a cheaper hood, but to no avail. Finally got a hood through auto wreckers... the one deliever was dented. But I was really appreciative that they cared enough not to give me a messed up part. Lastly, got the brand new hood and the men in the shop help me out to my boyfriends truck with the hood ( my mistake of picking it up by myself lol) Mind you I had my car quoted for insurance and it was over 1200 for body work alone... thanks to auto wreckers I spent a whopping 575 on parts!!! They then promised to send cash so that we could have the money in hand and then sent ANOTHER check- went directly to the bank to cash it and the bank said they could not cash it! after several calls to fix the issue and a LOT of lies from the people who work there, as well as 3 trips to the bank the company finally "transferred" money into the bank account so they check could be cashed. They lied several times and were not friendly about their mistake. I was initially given a check was post-dated, a detail which I did not notice at first. So I waited to deposit the check until the next day--the check bounced. Then, it took me two weeks of persistent calling to get my money. Though they did reimburse my bank fees as well, I finally had to collect the cash at their office. They didn't call to set up a time as promised (I should have known then), when I called them they set up a time and I said that date was the only date I could have the car towed as we were moving. They didn't show up on that day. They said they were short one guy. We had to leave and left the car for them to pick up the next day. They came two days later. They took the car and never sent the check. I have called and called and every time they say it will be in the mail that same day.
